Karen Cruz2 said:Hey silentpuma28 and David King72, what were you guys using?
I'd appreciate any advice you can give. 🙂
I haven't actually bought any myself,
I've just been using my old ones from when I used to visit florists.
Megan Reyes73, what on earth are you actually doing?
I’m backing what silentpuma28 said here.
Ladies, do yourselves a favor and go take a stroll through some local shops to see for yourselves; my first friend had an auntie handle everything from the home decor and boutonnieres to the bouquet, the venue, the Church • tablecloth, and even the car decorations, and she was charged $2.50 for the whole setup. Meanwhile, another florist who works out of her own home took just $1333, and honestly, I think that’s a massive gap—I know the home-based lady does amazing work, but such a huge price difference feels a bit much, doesn't it?
Don't get mad at me, but that's just how I see it, especially since this other florist also made her a keepsake holder that’s actually built to last forever.
Then there's another friend of mine getting married tomorrow; she handled the invitations, thank-you notes, home decor, the Church • tablecloth, the venue, boutonnieres, and the bouquet herself, and then $1500
will be helping out too. It all really comes down to what you decide to outsource, but if you ask me, I've heard from plenty of reliable sources that some flower shops will absolutely rip you off 😍 if you aren't careful.
Andrew Wilson9 said:Hey, does anyone know which company in Miami handles fireworks, foam cannons, room painting, and stuff like that? Also, where can I pick up some flares in Miami?
You can grab some flares at that little shop near the Safeway, I think it's called
Mirnovec or something like that...
Jack Miller4 said:I completely forgot to mention how many guests were actually on the list 🙂 somewhere between 180 and 200 people. I spent some time over at the Diocletian building earlier, and while the traditional beef stew they served was absolutely divine, that banquet hall was just far too cramped for a crowd of that size.
By the way, which hair salon did you end up using? 🤷
Does somewhere like Orange County, maybe around San Diego or Irvine work for you? Just let me know what you're looking for, and someone here will surely pull together a list of venues for you.
Jack Miller4 said:Good morning, ladies,
I was hoping you might be able to help me out with a few questions I've been pondering.
1. Has anyone heard if Jack's villa has stopped serving those delicious pear desserts?
2. Where can I find the absolute best catering? I know taste is entirely subjective, but honestly, for me, the quality of the food far outweighs how fancy the venue looks.
3. Looking at Nirs online, everything seems lovely, though I seem to recall reading some threads here a while back where a few women shared rather disappointing experiences. I can't quite recall the specifics, though—does anyone have a different perspective on them? They appeal to me quite a bit, especially since they allow for a reception before the church ceremony. Aside from there, where else in San Diego could I host something like that, and what kind of budget should I be looking at?
Thanks so much, and best regards...
1.Yeah, they aren't doing the mashed potatoes anymore.
2. How many guests are we talking about? If it's around 100, I'd say the Dioklecian venue in the suburbs or maybe Ino in the Kaštela area would work.
-suburbs,
ino
I'll try to think of others, or maybe the other girls can jump in.
3. One girl on the forum didn't have the best experience with them, but if I recall correctly, you might be able to host a reception at Lara's Place, though I'm not entirely sure.
Karen Cruz2 said:Right you are, Mom... hahaha...😂
Keep in mind I had blonde hair back then.🤣
thanks
It doesn't matter, you're forgiven 😉
Karen Cruz2 said:Wait, where did your mom end up using for catering? And what kind of prices are we talking about here!?😕🤷
It wasn't my mom who ordered it, actually; it was a close friend of mine who’s getting married next weekend, and if I had to guess, she probably dropped about $500 per person on this. I’ll take some photos for you next week and share my full impressions so you can see everything for yourself, but honestly, isn't it easier to just check the reviews left by other women on these forums who have used their services before?😍
mistyraven272 said:Oh man, I totally blanked on that... do florists require a deposit right away or do they just put you on the books? Still undecided on the catering... I'm leaning towards getting it, but maybe just for my place since my family won't deal with any of this crap.🙄
From what I understand, you shouldn't be handing over any deposits to those private caterers, though if you're looking at local florists, you might want to double-check that part yourself just to be safe—isn't it better to be certain? Honestly, that catering service is a total lifesaver; I actually used them just last week, and they showed up yesterday with a full list of exactly what we needed to provide in terms of food and drinks, while they handled every single other detail themselves. It takes so much weight off your shoulders when you don't have to micromanage every little thing, and quite frankly, I think it’s one of the best things people have ever come up with.
mistyraven272 said:So, I finally pulled the trigger and went with Lisjak 😁 But I gotta ask you guys... I've already booked the venue, the DJ, the photographer, and the church, so now what? What's actually next on the list?? It feels like I'm way ahead of schedule since the wedding isn't until December
Help a girl out...
Well, you've knocked out the big stuff, so now it's time to focus on the flowers (honestly, I’d suggest booking those sooner rather than later) and then just breathe until November rolls around to handle the smaller details like the cake, drinks, and everything else.
Are you planning on hiring a caterer?
amberpanther17 said:Help! I just finished reading a few pages online and now I’m terrified that I have to redo everything from scratch...
Basically, my little rascal is heading off to join the Navy, and from what I can gather, we need to reserve a hall at least a year—if not longer—in advance???????
I honestly felt a bit lightheaded just starting to pull all this info together. It's overwhelming!
It’s such a shame they don't just accept that certification from Las Vegas ;o)))
To be totally honest with you guys, I haven't the slightest clue where to even begin.
If anyone out there feels like being a hero and pointing me in the right direction... please help meeee
Honey, the absolute first priority is securing your venue and the music, because if you want anything decent, you really need to lock those in about a year ahead of time. After that, you can worry about the photographer, the flowers, and all the legal paperwork.
mistyraven272 said:Hey 🙂
Been lurking here for a minute now, but finally decided to jump in... Gotta say, you guys have been a lifesaver with all the advice. Seriously, thanks a ton. Anyway, I'm getting married this December. Right now, we've only got the venue locked in—the Bolero—but finding music is turning into a total nightmare... if anyone's heard anything about The Kiki Band or Major League, let me know. Any info helps 😁
The Kiki Band is actually a solid choice too
I'll shoot you their number via DM
wiredbison98 said:Listen, ladies, I booked my hall two whole months ago—and that was for August 2010! That should give you a pretty clear idea of how much lead time you really need!!
🙂
So, where on earth did you book this place?🤷
And you still have
N/A
over in LA, they’ve got that new salon, the fable
Anonymous said:thanks for the heads up 🙂
so I've still got Mammoth, Ino, and Castle left on my list... 🤔
Fine, if you say Diocletian's place is small, then I guess I owe you an apology...
But honestly, INO has two separate halls, and I had such a blast at the party there that I’m already heading back on April 25th.
One hall is on the ground floor while the other is upstairs,
and when I was actually at the party, I didn't even realize there was a second level; plus, they have a massive parking lot, great food, and the service is top-notch. 👍
Anonymous said:Hey everyone, could I get a little help here? 😍
I'm on the hunt for a banquet hall or restaurant for February 10th. We're expecting about 180 people, and I'd prefer somewhere just outside of Miami. Maybe something near Key West, Podstrana, Solin, or the coastal areas.
🙂
You've
got options: In the suburbs, there's Amigos, Diocletian, San Antonio, or the Le Meridien
For the tech/industrial areas, try TTTS-Robot or Imenjak
Around Solin, check out Zvonimir or Gaspic
Near the coast—Castello, Ino, or Sv. Kriz(Civo)
And if you head toward Dugopolje, there's Dolis, Phoenix, or Sunce😍
A robot and a manager on TTTS
Karen Cruz2 said:A friend of mine just booked a local choir group for her wedding...$500 they’ll be performing right on schedule in the hall 😉
Does anyone know of a good dance studio? I'm getting married in five months and would love for us to learn a few moves before the big day. ☕
Actually, I just saw an ad for an adult dance class being held at the local elementary school out in Yosemite
John Rivera57 said:Guys, please. I need a solid DJ for July—ideally someone from San Francisco or Seattle, but honestly, I'm open to anyone willing to make the trip out to Portland. Please, if you know someone actually talented and not just some talentless hack hiding behind a laptop screen.
Thanks, thanks!
Someone will reach out to you. The forum is usually a ghost town on the weekends, so your best bet is to check back on Monday.
