Sandra Gomez50 said:We are looking to host a wedding for about 70 to 80 guests sometime in 2010, ideally somewhere near the coast or by a river in the San Francisco area or its immediate surroundings. So far, we’ve received quotes from Salt Lake City and Taco Bell, both coming in at $40 per person.

I could really use some help navigating a few specific details, so please, save me from my own indecision.
1. Has anyone here attended a wedding at The Old Tavern near the Santa Monica river? My wife insists that 70 people is the sweet spot for that venue, but since the space seems quite intimate, I'm worried about it feeling cramped. If you've been there, how was the food and did the guest count feel overwhelming for the room?
2. Is there a cafe or restaurant out there that would allow us to rent out just a terrace—preferably one with a roof—for a single night? We are considering hosting an after-party for our crew where we simply rent the deck and bring in outside catering.
3. What is the standard going rate for a wedding DJ these days? I have scoured every corner of the internet and still can't find a clear answer. Also, if anyone has a recommendation for a great DJ, please send their name and number via PM.

Regarding The Rusty Anchor, the food there is absolutely fantastic.
If you want to be near the water, you should also check out San Antonio in the coastal area.

viadel makes absolutely killer pastries, and honestly, their cakes are even better. 👍 👍Their cookies run about $12 per pound, while the cakes start at $33 and go up from there.

I was also wondering if Phoenix might work, but honestly, I'm not even sure if they have halls that fit the size we need...

thanks!😉

Oh, I totally forgot to mention—those kinds of venues can get snatched up months in advance, sometimes even a full year ahead of time,

Look, if you already have a date in mind, why wait around? Just go down there and find out if they're even available. And honestly, if you're actually planning on hosting that many people, wouldn't a venue like Bolero right in the city work just as well?

Also, where did you all find your wedding shoes?? I’m looking for something with a bit more flair than just a basic pair. 🙂

Kyle James4 said:Dear fellow forum members,
I’ve been scrolling through countless pages dedicated to weddings in California (I think I saw over 5,000 posts)... I haven't quite managed to get through all 5,000 since there is so much casual chatting mixed in (a small critique, please don't be mad at me! 🙂... but I am really just looking for concrete information). Even if a lot of things are being repeated, I would truly appreciate it if you could help me out! :-)

I actually live in Germany, so trying to organize a wedding in California is proving to be a bit of a challenge, though I'm giving it my best shot because I have so much family coming in from out of town.
I am aiming for a wedding somewhere between Savannah and San Francisco for about 135 guests. I looked into Grace, which seems very exclusive, but then again, that might explain why I'm saving up for this instead of having a car... my main concern is finding enough space for everyone, and I'm also a little worried about rain in July... I know it's rare, but just imagine... we are all outside and suddenly it pours. We'd look like something straight out of a "Rain" music video by Guns N' Roses... ;-))

>>> Do you have any recommendations for a good restaurant or venue other than Tulsa or Marina Frapa???? (My friends and relatives have already held their weddings there, so I am hoping to find something "new.")
>>> Has anyone worked with Pimpinel Catering??? What is their reputation like? How is the food at a reception when they handle it?? Does anyone have a recommendation???

It would honestly be wonderful if you could answer and help me navigate this—I haven't quite figured out how to use the "search" function on these boards yet...

THANK YOU!!!

Paul Mendoza17 said:Angela,

That is a sharp observation 😉. When I originally asked my question a month ago, I assumed—as most men do—that I would just invite around 200 close contacts. But that isn't how it works when you're dealing with a fiancée 🤷. Now, my future wife has started calculating ☕ everyone we need to invite, and we've already hit over 350 names (assuming everyone attends). Even with that 10-20% drop-off, we're still looking at a headcount of about 300.

I couldn't agree more with what Angela Flores3 wrote...
Don't expect that many people to actually show up on the wedding day; honestly, half of them won't even bother to reply to let you know they aren't coming...
Paul Mendoza17 said:Jack,

I'm currently in New York City and I'm not very familiar with the venues in San Francisco. I was hoping someone could give me a little help finding a hall for a party. I'm looking for a space that can accommodate roughly 320 to 400 people.

I really appreciate any information or recommendations you might have.

Could the Bolero at Victrola actually fit a crowd that size?

Zachary White9 said:What do I know about Ira? She grabbed coffee with me once and mentioned the reveries are exactly the same as they were a few years back when her sister was getting married—just those silly fabric roses, in a million different shades of pink, and nothing but roses 🤷

Well, there’s plenty of other floral options out there besides just roses, isn't there?

Zachary White9 honestly, my recommendation is to go 100% for the guys without worrying about finding any women there; I was actually at the party where they were playing, and I didn't hear a single female vocalist all night, so why bother? As for Ire, she definitely has the best selection of decorations, though maybe their shipment just hasn't arrived yet—you should probably check in with Auntie to see when the new stock is coming in.

gentleheron5 said:I SIMPLY MUST BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION! I was recently attending a party out in San Francisco where a band called the Atlantic was performing, and they were absolutely phenomenal! One of the musicians looked incredibly familiar to me—it felt as though I had seen him playing in a manga back in the day, and seeing him live brought all those memories rushing back! I actually went up to him and asked for his contact information because I mentioned to him that we’ve been having some serious issues with our music scene over in San Diego, so he was kind enough to give me his number and told us to feel free to reach out whenever we need them. Here is the number: 095 887 8310. Honestly, guys, these musicians are just outstanding!

Just a little tip from me: maybe don't write in all caps, and perhaps send phone numbers via private message instead?

but honestly, I’m starting to feel like I won't even have a say in the matter anymore 😁

Honestly, I think one of the ladies on this forum had something similar once, though I can't quite recall which 🤔
maybe you could check out some local bakeries or look through their cookbooks?
When are you arriving in SF?
Angela Flores3 said:Hey guys, I need some serious help here:

So, basically, I picked out this gorgeous, insanely talented lady—she’s the pastry chef over at the Marriott—to handle my wedding cake, but she’s dealing with some family drama right now and might not even be available on May 23rd.

Please, please hit me with recommendations for someone legit who does killer work and can pull off a massive, high-end cake for 250-300 people (honestly, budget isn't an issue for me).

I know, I know, I'm totally screwed because the big day is only three weeks away 😕

I remember some of you recommending makeup artists around the San Francisco area a while back, so if anyone wouldn't mind sending me their numbers via DM, I'd really appreciate it. I've asked everyone I know, but nobody seems to have any leads, and I'm running out of time...🤷

The Ino-Kaštela bistro was absolutely stellar; the servers were incredible, practically hovering by our table to ensure we had everything we could ever need before we even realized it... the food was simply divine 🙂, a perfect ten out of ten
. As for the live music from Vine and Ivo , what can I even say? Major props to them! These guys are fantastic and they cultivate such an infectious atmosphere that I honestly found myself in disbelief... 👍

Hopefully, this helps someone out there

Sorry, I just sent you a DM—it turns out those were actually made by that woman who does local handiwork from home.😍

Raymond Brooks7 said:Look, everything is subjective... don't just go copying what someone else did... it all comes down to the flowers themselves. Is it peak season? Are they even in stock? What kind are we talking about? Will there be one lone stem in a vase or a massive explosion of blooms?

For instance, I once hunted down these specific white and green roses and some lisianthus that were just disappearing from the market right when I needed them—availability really dictates the final bill...

If you ask me, everything you guys listed above... you actually need more than three of those elements $0.00 :nezna:

I mean, there is no way a four-meter floral arrangement isn't going to cost a fortune $167... it's obvious that your own preferences are what drive the price!

Well, I'm pretty sure I already mentioned that it all boils down to what you want; my whole point was just that if you take a stroll and really look, you'll see the difference
