Psychology: Is it all just fluff? in Psychology ·
Angela Morris said:It is clear you did not read my introductory remarks...

Okay, I’ve actually sat down and focused on reading this properly now.

Everything you see on TV or read in books is just a reflection of someone else's thoughts—it's someone else's creativity (and honestly, most people are getting way too rich off it these days).

Just because you see something doesn't mean you have to model your life after it or follow that exact same path.

Alright, time for a little bit of cheesy inspiration to wrap things up: you are the master of your own destiny.

How can anyone claim psychology is just some useless bullshit?!

Look, I get it if you think some specific therapist is a total hack, or if you’ve hung out with those pseudo-intellectual types who love throwing around shallow psychoanalysis like they actually know something. But calling the entire field of psychology "trash"?

That’s like saying physiognomy—the idea that you can judge someone's character by their face—is just "basic nonsense."🤣
Hey everyone, sending big love to all of you, especially Angela Wright 😉

My mom just finished two sessions of brachytherapy followed by a cycle of 10 smaller ones. She’s got a follow-up appointment in a week, and then we'll finally know what the next steps are. It might sound like a cliché, but you really have to hold onto faith and the will to fight—not just for the patient, but for all of us who are feeling everything they feel.

Right now, she’s doing okay for the most part, though she’s dealing with some pretty intense pain and trouble swallowing, which makes eating difficult.

I’m really hoping and praying this is just a temporary phase. Even her doctor mentioned that these side effects could actually be a positive sign that the radiation is doing its job.

It’s so important to stay strong and be that rock for our loved ones during times like this. 🙂

Here is a wonderful song to lift your spirits. Stay brave. 😉 🙂

Michelle Cook83 said:So, tell me—how long was it from when you first got that sore throat until you ended up with a kidney infection? And are you absolutely certain it was pyelonephritis and not glomerulonephritis?

Honestly, I have no clue exactly when the kidney issues started. How was I even supposed to know? 🤔
The sore throat lasted about three or four days, then I spent the next five days stuck in bed with a high fever, feeling like my whole body was aching. Around day nine, the pain moved to my back, and that's when I headed to the ER.

My diagnosis was acute non-obstructive pyelonephritis...

So, which pills actually won't wreck you if you take too many?
I honestly don't think popping one or two Ketoral tablets a month is that big of a deal. 😉

It lasted about three or four days. Why do you ask? 😕

Dealing with Pyelonephritis in Health ·
Hi everyone

Back in early October, I ended up hospitalized. It all started with a sore throat. 🤷 I honestly thought it was just some common cold or something, so I went to my doctor and got an antibiotic prescription. For the next three nights, I’d get a slight fever right before bed—nothing crazy, just around 99-100°F. But then things took a turn for the worse. My temperature would spike several times throughout the day, hitting 102°F by evening. This went on for about seven days. I kept telling myself it was just the flu and it would pass. Then one night, my fever shot up past 104°F. I was basically semi-conscious; I couldn't do anything but lie there. I couldn't even eat or drink. It felt like a coma... My mom actually used rubbing alcohol on me to help break the fever, and within half an hour, it dropped to 100°F. I crashed immediately after.
The next day, I headed to the ER. My lab results weren't great. I mentioned that back in May, I had to go to the emergency room because of blood in my urine, so they decided to admit me. They put me on an IV and started me on intravenous Garamicin. My fever stayed around 100°F for another three days, mostly hitting right before bedtime...

Anyway, long story short: I spent seven days in the hospital. They diagnosed me with pyelonephritis. It feels weird because this time there wasn't any blood in my urine and I didn't have typical symptoms when peeing, but the constant fever and those agonizing lower back pains were definitely there. After being discharged, I took Nolinc for two weeks. It helped, but I still felt completely wiped out.

Since then, my fever has flared up maybe four or five times. I thought that was somewhat normal, but my OB-GYN told me it’s actually pretty concerning. I had some tests done last week; my urine culture came back clean, but my blood work shows something isn't quite right, and my urinalysis is off too (even though I don't really get how the urine can be "bad" if the culture is 🤷). I have to go back to the hospital next week for more testing.

What I really want to know is: how can I prevent this from coming back? I can't seem to force myself to drink 3 liters of water a day; it's just not a habit of mine, and now it's becoming a huge issue. I try to dress warmly, wearing layers and bodysuits, and I eat dried cranberries, but I still feel like total trash...

I've tried supplementing with different vitamins like Centrum and stuff, but nothing seems to kickstart my recovery.
Some people have suggested that emotional stress affects the kidneys and that I need to "get my head straight," but I struggle with depression constantly... I also got a referral to check my thyroid levels because I think I might have symptoms (insomnia, sweaty palms, sudden mood swings, hair loss...). Is there actually a connection between the thyroid and the kidneys?

How do I get through this? A friend of my mom's has been treating her daughter for pyelonephritis for five years now, and that absolutely terrifies me. On top of that, I can't stay on antibiotics forever; every time I finish them, the infection just comes right back down there...

Any advice? Maybe certain vitamins or something else? Please help... 😢

I've been falling down a YouTube rabbit hole lately, and honestly, I'm really feeling the Dropkick Murphys. Time to keep digging... man, I am officially obsessed. 😁

Honestly, out of everything you guys mentioned, I’ve only ever listened to Flogging Molly, and they are absolutely incredible... so yeah, I’m definitely going to start downloading the rest of them right now. 👍 👍

Oh man, that sounds absolutely awful. 😢
I honestly don't know how your OB-GYN could just tell you that's just how it is. 😕
Seriously, don't just brush this off; I’d really recommend getting a second opinion from some other specialists to see what they think.

To be fair, I deal with pretty intense pain too, but my situation is nothing like yours.
I usually take some Aleve as soon as I feel even a tiny bit of discomfort—I refuse to wait until the last minute because once it hits, it can be totally unbearable.
I used to use Advil, which works great too.

WTF?

Oh boy... here we go...

Like I said—it's an M&M's. 😉

It was actually like that for a while with the Hershey's surprise eggs—they only had M&M's on the shelves.
They'll bring it back. Hopefully. 🙂

I wouldn't bother heading out to a deserted island if it’s really that lonely. 🙂
