Angela Wright said:Because this is such an incredibly brutal time—not just for those fighting the illness, but for their families and loved ones too—and because there's such a massive lack of real psychological support in our society, I decided to take matters into my own hands. Having gone through this nightmare myself, I started this forum so that we can look out for one another, offering advice and genuine support to anyone navigating these waters.

Please, feel free to share your story here. I promise I’ll always be here to reply, offer some guidance, or just stand by you. It's so hard, and sometimes being a caregiver or a bystander is even more exhausting than the fight itself.

I’ve been through hell personally, and honestly, I don't think anyone should ever have to endure this alone.

Sending huge hugs to everyone.

I am in a complete mess right now. I got stuck in a cycle of drug abuse, and I've been in outpatient treatment for a while now. But honestly? Being under medical supervision feels worse than when I was out on the streets using. I'm taking 18 heptanones, an antidepressant called CITALON, and a sedative called Prazine. Before that, along with the heptanones, I was taking ZAN to sleep and five 10mg tablets of Apaurin every single day. I used to stick mostly to heroin, but I finally decided to get help because I was terrified of catching HIV or Hepatitis. During my last overdose, when the paramedics were trying to bring me back to life right there on the street in downtown, I told them I'd had enough and that I wanted treatment. But man, these meds hit my brain so hard it's terrifying. I feel like a lab rat being experimented on until they finally stumble upon the right combination for me.
wiredpuma5 said:Ugh, if your liver and brain can actually handle it, you’ll consider yourself lucky.
I know from experience that Citalopram tends to trigger quite a few side effects initially, though you might start feeling a genuine lift in your mood after about three months. You become more sociable, more upbeat—you just feel better. But getting off Citalopram? Good grief... it's a nightmare.
Headaches, insomnia, those "brain zaps" that feel like electric shocks in your skull—it's a total disaster. Just a quick heads-up: Citalopram doesn't cause psychological addiction, but it does create a physical dependency, so stopping abruptly just throws your entire system into chaos.
As for Prazo, I'm not an expert, but since that's an antipsychotic, it can cause extrapyramidal symptoms or things resembling Parkinsonism. You really ought to have your doctor walk you through that.

I won't lecture you, but honestly, what led you down the path of drug use? It's a dark place to be. 😢

I truly hope you make a full recovery soon.
Good luck.

That's a fair question about why I started using. Honestly, I don't even know myself. I started when I was 14—just a kid, naive, inexperienced, and with plenty of cash in my pocket. I was the perfect target for dealers, and an easy one at that. I've learned a lot, though, mostly just trying to claw my way out of it. I'm on 5mg of Heptanon; it's not much, I barely even feel it, I basically just take it to keep the withdrawal away. But the depression and this weird psychosis are killing me. It feels like constant panic attacks; I get this overwhelming sense of dread and I don't even know what I'm afraid of. It's such intense fear that it triggers actual panic, and it feels like it's driving me insane. That's why the doctor prescribed Prazin and Citalopram. On top of all these feelings, I've been carrying this guilt since childhood that fueled my depression, and the drugs definitely made everything worse. Back when I was on heroin, things were different—there was always that euphoria, I always felt good. With Heptanon, that's gone, and it feels like there's just a permanent void left in my head. I'm so confused. I want to go through rehab, but I feel too weak. I can't face the withdrawal; the agony is more than I can take. I feel like my brain might actually snap.

Well, hold on a second 🤷

You can, just don't try using a backup account while your main one is under a ban...

Look, you put the wrong email on your first account...

Who cares? Just use this one for now. 😬
If you really need access to that first account, just shoot an admin your original username and the correct email address. They'll send you an activation link to get back in.

Or you could just take a second to remember where you actually started this whole mobile phone thread 🙂

Is that really what you were going for? Because with a post count like yours... it’s a little bit... questionable, if you ask me 😬

Stop talking nonsense, and maybe people will stop being jerks to you...😉

If he actually pulled that off, it would be absolutely perfect.

Hey everyone.
I finally decided to sign up here, though I’ve been lurking on Reddit for a while now. I’ve been diagnosed with depression and I'm currently managing a few different medications. I had a serious struggle with heroin in the past, so I’m also taking 18 tablets of methadone a day. Starting today, I’m adding Citalopram to the mix—beginning with half a 20mg pill for four days before moving up to a full dose. I'm also supposed to take 25mg of Prazosin three times a day, I think. I'm honestly pretty terrified about the side effects. I just want to know if anyone has experience with this kind of regimen and if the depression will actually lift. I deal with this crushing sense of guilt that started when I was 14 and has only gotten worse as I've hit 22. Even though I'm young, I spent five years struggling with heroin; I've been clean for six months now thanks to methadone treatment, but the depression is still hanging over me like a cloud. My psychiatrist mentioned that antidepressants take a long time to kick in and that I’ll likely be on them for the long haul. Has anyone here actually managed to beat their depression?

Yeah.

Honestly, you’re better off grabbing another 4 or 5 boxes worth of those 10-point rewards sooner rather than later just to be safe.😬

Is this just one of those clickbait threads designed to see how many views it can rack up? 😬

It’s like those fake stories about "Taylor Swift dropping a cinematic masterpiece" that get hit with a hundred clicks per minute. 😲 😬

Honestly, why don't we just start one single United thread specifically for nickname change requests? 🤷
It would definitely be a lot better than having people constantly cluttering the board with new topics every five minutes. 🤷

Just wanted to shake things up here and see if anyone has any recent experiences with this type of therapy. Also, does the gap between finishing the last radiation cycle and starting this treatment need to be exactly six months, or is there some wiggle room?

So... I'm looking for a dentist covered by Medicare, specifically someone in Chicago who can handle getting permanent braces installed.
If anyone has a recommendation... also, does anyone know what the waitlist looks like right now?
Thanks!
What's your biggest pet peeve? in Close to Politics ·
Back when I was living in the Midwest, my neighbors used to throw racial slurs at me because of my mixed heritage, and online, people would label me based on some political stereotype instead of who I actually am. I wanted to check in with you all—do you experience that kind of nationalistic tension or "he said, she said" tribalism here? Personally, I just love people regardless of their background; hate never solves anything. What’s the vibe like for you guys?

brighteagle39 said:I have to disagree there. To me, the whole point is that you *should* try to shift your mindset toward something better. Why stay stuck in the mud of depression? You have to fight against it using every tool at your disposal. It’s far too easy to just give in and let the current sweep you away, but that isn't the answer. Of course, I realize that sometimes life hits you hard and you can't just bypass sadness or whatever else comes your way, but we shouldn't allow ourselves to linger in those dark places for too long.

I'm with you on that, I just think action is the real game-changer. You can play around with all the "positive thinking" mantras you want, but if you aren't actually doing anything, the smallest setback is still going to knock you right back into the gutter.

Angela Morris said:Yes, I feel like I am starting my thousandth attempt at self-improvement and positive thinking today...😛

But honestly, you can't just force yourself to feel a certain way when you're feeling completely different inside 🤷

To me, actions speak louder than words. You've gotta be real with yourself.

Angela Morris said:Yes, I realize happiness is a choice. But right now, that feels less like actual help and more like an empty platitude...

It really is just a empty phrase if you aren't actually putting in the work. You can't just flip a switch and decide to be happy without doing anything to make it happen.

Even a tiny step counts as a solid start.
