You women are seriously out of your minds.😎
Starting a small business in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Politicians here are definitely just playing petty local politics, and I mean it. They keep preaching that more small businesses and startups mean a stronger economy, but try explaining that logic to a blue-collar worker who hasn't sat behind a desk a single day in their life. It’s nothing but empty talk.
Frida Kahlo in Movies ·
But honestly... Every single time I come face-to-face with her unique persona and her body of work, I can't help but wonder:
How on earth has nobody made a movie about Frida Kahlo yet? 😕

I am seriously counting down the days until I can finally watch it....

Well, if you've got a thing for Brad Pitt!!!
Humans have been eating meat for centuries, so our bodies seem pretty much wired for it. And don't even get me started on the amount of antibiotics, hormones, viruses, and bacteria we end up consuming nowadays—that's a whole other conversation. Personally, I cut pork out of my diet because it just wasn't sitting right with me. That said, I still have a major weakness for things like sausages, ham, and bacon. For a while, I tried living on soy, but eventually, I couldn't even look at it without feeling nauseous!

shadowraven382 said:Such an incredible movie! It’s set back in 1862 and really captures the struggle of Irish immigrants fighting for equal rights.👍

It’s basically the same kind of adrenaline rush you get from Die Hard or a classic Deadly weapon, just with period costumes!👎

Lilly said:I watched it. It's a Sega classic. Honestly, I liked it way more than Moulin Rouge—I was actually dying of boredom from all the melodrama in Moulin Rouge.

Same here!👎

Potassium Permanganate in Health ·
No way. You’d need something like 50 grams just to make that main pool look even remotely colored. And even then, the jet itself is going to stay white. If you actually want to change the color of the stream, you're looking at needing about half a kilo.

As for using permanganate to wash your face—don't even think about it. There are way better products out there that actually work without being so harsh on your skin.

There is nothing I hate more than people acting like experts on things they clearly know nothing about—vividstag31, I’m looking directly at you. And honestly, all this bureaucratic nonsense regarding starting a small business? It’s doing nothing but hurting everyday people and stalling our entire economy. In America, you can get up and running with basically one single document, which is why we lead the world. Meanwhile, look at where we are right now. How did we fall so far behind?

To’s Scorsese at his best for me—we're talking incredible direction, brilliant concepts, and top-tier acting, but just a good movie. I absolutely love the guy; there isn't a single one of his films that I don't 😉like even a little bit, but he somehow manages to stumble on something in every single movie that keeps it from being truly great.

Like a critic from The New York Times put it, the film feels like a Bruegel painting come to life. To be more precise, Scorsese used a Tolkien-level obsession to build out this entire geography, setting, and "mythology" for his various "factions," but the characters themselves (with the exception of Bill Butcher—BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT D.D.L.) are either flat archetypes or just completely useless. Even the plot is pretty thin, unless you ignore all the heavy-handed symbolism and allegories that feel slightly anti-American (like, for example, the assassination of an immoral, violent gang leader taking place... where? In a Theater! 👍 ).

It could have been shorter. It definitely didn't need that "melting-pot-method-for-building-a-nation-is-hard-but-heroic" message during the final scene, and honestly, it could have used a lot less pretentiousness.

Still, I'd give the movie a four out of five, and Scorsese definitely isn't ready for retirement yet.

By the way, I was watching this indie existential comedy from Uzbekistan a few days ago. Black and white, obviously. It was phenomenal. Honestly, it blows any big Hollywood blockbuster out of the water. There’s this one shot—it lasts about fifteen minutes—where you just see a sparrow sitting on a telephone pole, and it's absolutely unrepeatable. 😁 😁

😁 😁 Neyebowski, maybe you should just stick to your LJES and leave the heavy lifting to those of us who actually get it... 😉

I mean, look, Brad Pitt is an incredible actor with massive charisma... 🙄 he’s got that same magnetic pull as Richard Gere 🙂

copperdriver15 said:This movie is eight hundred times better than any Hollywood blockbuster. Seriously, that fifteen-minute shot of a sparrow sitting on a telephone pole? Absolutely legendary. Nothing else even comes close.

I bet it’s just some pretentious indie director from the Midwest trying to make a name for himself while filming a documentary in rural Nebraska. 🙂

Bob, sending all my best to your husband.

Thanks for the kind wishes! Honestly, trying to keep up with all these threads and diagnoses is overwhelming. I’ll admit, even at 48 with a decent education, I felt completely clueless the moment the doctors told my husband he had Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, specifically Mantle cell. He’s a journalist, and even he was lost. I guess it's just human nature—we always think these things only happen to other people!
He just finished his seventh round of chemo. There's one more to go, and then we'll look at alternatives to ensure he's fully cured, like an autologous stem cell transplant or potentially using his brother's cells if they're a perfect genetic match. I'm not sure how much you all know about that process, but we've watched plenty of videos and are mentally bracing ourselves if that's the path we need to take.
How did it start for him? It began with two symmetrical lumps right where the skull meets the neck. After taking some medication, those actually disappeared. But three months later, two more lumps popped up in his neck near the tonsils, along with terrible night sweats, hoarseness, weight loss, and unusual snoring at night. When we got his bloodwork back, his white cell count was 171,000!!! His spleen, acting like one massive lymph node, was swollen to about 12 inches! He’s handling the chemo really well, except for those zero days when his platelets and both red and white cell counts bottom out. During those times, he needs transfusions for blood and platelets.
So, that's our situation. Please, keep sharing your stories here. Everything you find online is just "official medical info," but the real human connection and shared experiences are something else entirely.
Sending my warmest wishes to everyone. I hope for quick recoveries and for everyone to get back to their normal lives soon. Sometimes, staying active and fighting back is the only way to beat this!
Best, Bob

Phew, that’s better... 🙏 For a split second there, I actually mixed him up with Leonardo DiCaprio... feeling much better now... 🙂

I mean, it's a blow for Leslie too... 😢 but Leonardo is definitely my favorite... 🙂

Still, it's such a shame about Leslie 😢

Folk music was huge back in the day in places like Sisak, and honestly, people are still listening to it today. But Sisak isn't the only place where that kind of sound has a following—not by a long shot...
