Hey, has anyone else had a chance to check out this movie yet...?
Wait, has this topic actually come up before, or am I just overthinking things...
I’m probably going to be running a little late again, but here I am anyway...

I watched it. It was garbage. Honestly, I felt like I was dying of pure boredom and sheer cheesiness while sitting through Moulin Rouge. I actually found Chicago much more engaging and better executed. Mind you, I have to admit, this whole genre isn't really my cup of tea.

Chicago isn't even playing in the States yet 😢 . Thank God we have a week of Oscar nominees lined up, so I'm heading to catch it this Thursday.

I caught the musical about a year or two ago and absolutely loved it—though if I’m being honest, I think Bombay Dreams is actually the superior show—so I really wasn't quite sure what to expect when sitting down for the movie version.
But, I have to say, it turned out to be way better than I anticipated!
It feels a little bit "stagey" at times (you know... almost like watching the actual musical but just with more frequent costume changes 😁 ), but it works perfectly fine for me.
Catherine Zeta-Jones was nothing short of sensational (which is saying a lot because she isn't usually my favorite actress, so that should give you an idea!), while Renée was just... okay... I honestly feel like they could have cast someone much stronger for the role of Roxie Hart.
Oh... and you definitely need to pay attention to Renée's Non-existent Renée in the film. I mean... she looks so incredibly thin... she’s so gaunt that she almost reminds me of someone starving in a remote part of Africa...

I'm heading to the show tonight, and I am making a point to NOT pay any attention to Renée or her breasts. 😁 I'm with you on that one—she’s definitely a questionable choice.

I thought Moulin Rouge was a blast, so if you guys are saying this one tops it, I guess I'll have to see for myself. 👍

I honestly think the Moulin Rouge version hits different because the lyrics have such a unique vibe... it’s just so much more stagey! If you’ve ever actually seen the musical, you know exactly what I’m talking about... but either way, it’s still a great watch.

Could you please, please pay close attention to Renée's breast... 😉 😁

The movie isn't bad—it’s actually pretty fun and easy to watch—but honestly, I thought M. Rouge was way better.
PS. And where on earth are those breasts? 😁 😁

No joke, I actually liked the movie; I love that whole "cabaret" vibe.
The plot is pretty cliché, but it’s well put together

Though I’d cut a few filler scenes; it drags on a bit too long

Zeta is magical, and Renée? Just wow.
Honestly, where did they even find her? How did she become such a massive star overnight???
When the trailers first came out, everyone was talking about Zeta, so I totally assumed she was the lead

Haha, but honestly, that’s kind of the whole point of the scene... Since Non-existent Renee doesn't actually have any curves, well... they just aren't there! She looked like she starved herself so much that instead of a cleavage, you just see a hollow space on her chest! 😲 😲
Personally, I thought Renee was just okay in this one... I really feel like they could have cast someone much more impactful for that role, even though she’s actually a decent actress in general, but in this specific movie... yeah, no way!
Queen Latifah was great, though. 👍

I actually found this movie way better than Moulin Rouge, which really caught me off guard. Everyone was hyping up Moulin Rouge back then, especially since Nicole was at the peak of her fame. This one felt much brighter; it was a pleasant surprise for me.
Renee doesn't lack anything, though Neja’s hips look like she hasn't quite grown into them yet. Regardless, I enjoyed her performance, and honestly, after seeing a thousand movies, Gear was actually decent for once.

I thought this movie was seriously good..
Look, I wouldn't say I'm some huge musical fanatic or anything—that's just not my vibe—but this one? It actually works. 🙂

It can be a bit much if you aren't really into all that constant singing and dancing, but... honestly, you'll get through it. 😁

The movie was alright. I’m not much of a musical person myself, so I actually left the theater feeling pretty upbeat.
The issue is that even if it walks away with 16 Oscars, everyone is going to forget it existed five minutes after the credits roll.

The RZ is perfectly fine.
Her transformation from that chubby kid you used to see on The Daily News to this skinny woman is pretty wild to look at.

But man, all those nominations...

It’s basically engineered to appeal to you. It’s like when you accidentally end up at a McDonald's; you know the food is total garbage, but once every few months, it actually hits the spot. 😁

I’m in total agreement with the takes over at The Daily News. Honestly, watching CZJ and RZ dance around each other felt a little pathetic. You had one powerhouse beauty—at least in my eyes—standing next to a scrawny, unattractive old lady who looked like she hadn't seen a decent meal in years. It was almost comical seeing baby-faced RZ, with those overly plumped lips, acting all "decisive" while turning down CZJ’s offer for a joint show. 😁

Queen Latifah is impressive, but I think her duet could have gone much better. She really should have let the Queen persona loose and delivered some more powerful vocals.

I have to ask, why does everyone seem to have such massive prejudices against musicals? They’re just movies like any other, and I honestly don't get the hate... It feels like people just dislike them because characters break out into song and dance, and that's where they stop. It seems totally subjective, and frankly, I don't follow the logic at all...

Personally, I loved Chicago. If it had swept all 13 Oscars, I wouldn't have complained for a second—I'm fully rooting for it. Out of all the nominees I've seen (aside from Gangs of New York), none of them even come close. None of those films left me feeling as energized as Chicago did once the credits rolled...

Renee & Catherine are fantastic. I really don't understand the criticism directed at Zellweger—people saying someone else could have played her part better—but hey, to each their own...

Seriously, Steven Ruiz, you are obsessed with boobs.🙄 ...I actually watched it and thought it was great. Honestly, Queen Latifah was the best part playing the role of Mom.

The movie was an absolute train wreck—honestly, how could it possibly get any worse? What were they even thinking?🙂

This movie is such a blast! Everything about it is just so well done. I highly recommend checking it out—it’ll give you a great idea of who to root for once Oscar season rolls around.
Man, I wish I could party as hard as they do!
