Sandra Brooks91 said:Since there was no receipt issued, it looks like you might actually be right after all. Besides, this whole thread would be pointless if everyone just "went and asked." If you don't know the answer, maybe find a hobby 😉 instead of commenting, right? It’s really not that deep 😉

I had the exact same thing happen to me recently... they charged me $1.75 without providing a single receipt or even a digital confirmation! 🤷 I was thinking the exact same thing as you, Sandra Brooks91

Well, if you go that route, you won't have any actual proof that you ever sent it...☕
It’s worth spending a few extra bucks to get it done right; at least you get a receipt, which gives you some leverage to wave in front of the clerk at the Post Office if things go sideways... 🙏

If you want a paper trail, you need that receipt they give you at the USPS counter... For instance, I sent a shirt via standard mail just yesterday and it already arrived today... everything went smoothly... and right next to me, there was a little slip clearly stating $2.25 postage paid!!!
I realize it might be a bit risky... but the lady I was sending this to was insistent, so here goes nothing. Now, I can only hope it actually arrives in one piece and looks the way it’s supposed to! 🙂
Donna Martinez95 said:If you send it through the standard channels, you're probably going to end up with a measly 5.$3.25 🙂

Just make it clear that you want something standard, and leave it at that. 🙂

I really appreciate the help! I was just wondering, though—would there be any issues if I specifically requested to send my mail via standard service? I’m mostly concerned about whether the clerks at the post office might push back or give me some kind of hard time, claiming that certain items aren't eligible for standard shipping or something along those lines.
I’m honestly feeling a bit lost in this sea of shipping information... I need to send off a jersey, and a friend asked if I could just send it via standard mail in a padded envelope. Can I just take one of those larger bubble mailers, tuck the shirt inside, seal it up, and then head down to the USPS to ask them to process it as regular mail? If I do that, will it cost roughly $5.00? This is my first time actually shipping anything, and I have absolutely no clue how the process works. I’d rather ask 🙂
beforehand than get absolutely fleeced by the clerks at the counter like some other people have.
Maria Grant42 said:To make it simple to remember: pneumonia generally presents with three main hallmarks:

a cough (either dry or producing phlegm)
fever (usually topping 100.4°F)
intense fatigue

I appreciate the response... honestly, I’ve been well-versed in everything regarding illness because my mother works at the Mayo Clinic, and I've had access to that expertise for over 20 years. Having her there means I get the best possible care available... even so, those lab results and the fluctuating levels still had me feeling pretty uneasy.

Thanks again!
Maria Grant42 said:The blood work looks fine, though we’re missing the ESR results.

ESR for what?
I just realized I missed that question...
I had my blood and CRP checked at an urgent care clinic using a finger prick—that's specifically why I went to a clinic that offers finger-prick CRP testing. I have a massive phobia of blood draws; it isn't even about the needles, it's the actual process of having blood taken. So, I only have the specific results I mentioned.
Maria Grant42 said:Are you experiencing any other symptoms? A cough? Pain in your ribs or just below the sternum? Any joint pain?

If you are feeling generally better—meaning no chills or rigors, and your temperature hasn't spiked above what you previously reported—then it stands to reason that the antibiotic is actually doing its job.

I am a bit confused, though; did your doctor specifically diagnose you with pneumonia or bronchitis?

When is your follow-up appointment?

If the malaise persists, or if the cough and fever continue to drag on, it might be worth getting a chest X-ray. At that point, we’d need to consider switching antibiotics to rule out the possibility that you've developed pneumonia.

Thanks for the reply and for asking the questions I neglected to mention myself.. 😉

I should have noted that I have a very heavy cough. Because I can't clear my throat properly, I've been taking Bisolvon, which has helped significantly; the coughing feels much more manageable now. I had a rengen taken the very first day the fever hit, and everything looked fine. Both the pulmonologist and my primary care physician listened to my lungs and confirmed they didn't hear anything unusual. As for fatigue, I don't feel weak at all!

Regarding the diagnosis, the doctor wasn't particularly specific. She just stated it was an upper respiratory infection and expressed relief that it hadn't moved down into the lungs. It actually surprised me how vague she was with the diagnosis. My follow-up is this Friday, once I finish the last dose of the antibiotic. For instance, I had no fever at all this morning, which is typical—I usually feel fine in the mornings, but by the afternoon, my eyes start stinging and I know the fever is returning.

Other than that, nothing hurts, aside from some chest discomfort from the coughing. That's about it.
I was hoping someone might be able to offer some insight here... My partner recently dealt with a case of contagious pneumonia, and naturally, I caught it while we were together earlier this summer. However, instead of the infection settling in my lungs, it seems to have targeted my respiratory tract, leaving me with a persistent, heavy cough.

My doctor ordered a CRP test, and the results showed significant inflammation; it came back at 23.29, which is quite high considering the normal range is typically between 0 and 5.

Here are the rest of my lab results:

RBC 4.36 (3.86 - 5.08)
Hemoglobin g/dL 128 (118 - 149)
Hematocrit 0.364 (0.350 - 0.470)
MCV fL 83.5 (83.0 - 97.0)
MCH pg 29.4 (27.0 - 34.0)
MCHC g/L 352 (320 - 345) - HIGH
RDW % 12.5 (9.0 - 15.0)
Platelets 10e9/L 141 (158 - 424) - LOW
MPV fL 10.7 (6.8 - 10.4) - HIGH
WBC 6.4 (3.4 - 9.7)
Neutrophils % 21.9 (44.0 - 72.0) - LOW
# 10e9/L 1.00 (2.06 - 6.49)
Lymphocytes % 53.8 (20.0 - 46.0)
# 10e9/L 1.29 (1.19 - 3.35) - HIGH
Monocytes % 23.9 (2.0 - 12.0) - VERY HIGH
# 10e9/L 1.09 (0.12 - 0.84)
Eosinophils % 0.2 (0.0 - 7.0)
# 10e9/L 0.01 (0.00 - 0.43)
Basophils % 0.2 (0.0 - 1.0)
# 10e9/L 0.01 (0.00 - 0.06)

Based on these numbers, I was prescribed Lekoklar XL 500mg—an antibiotic—this past Friday. Despite that, my fever hasn't broken even after a week. These labs were taken on Friday, and while my temperature initially spiked above 100.4°F, it’s currently hovering between 99.1°F and 99.4°F. It fluctuates constantly over the last three days, rising and falling again. I haven't been taking any Tylenol to suppress the fever.

Could anyone explain what these elevated and low markers signify in this context? Furthermore, is it realistic to expect the CRP levels to stabilize within a single week? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

George Lopez10 said:What on earth were your criteria for picking the cake's look?

The ingredients in these things are pretty much all the same 🙂

I’m looking at them and they all look gorgeous—it’s impossible to make a decision!

Also, does anyone happen to know the pricing at the Hershey's discount store for those fudge brownies, Griotte bites, and those little mini chocolate bars sold in bulk? Or even just a rough idea of how much cheaper they are...

All I know is that grabbing those chocolates in bulk from a place like Hershey's is definitely the smarter move. It’s obviously a much better value if you're looking to pick up a larger quantity.

I’m inclined to agree... my cycle tends to get a bit wonky for a few days once summer wraps up. I read somewhere that it’s due to the seasonal shift—assuming you aren't living on the coast, obviously.

I just got my period after being two weeks late 😲 and I’m honestly losing my mind over it... this has never happened to me before, and I have no clue why it's happening now. It’s never arrived early like this, and of course, it happens right as I’m getting back from a beach trip. Is this just some weird reaction to the change in weather, or could it be something more serious? I go for regular checkups with my OB-GYN and everything always comes back normal... but this sudden shift has me completely on edge! 🤷

Ethan Green10 said:At the local bakery, those little cookies go for about 10 to $6.75, depending on how fancy the icing is... so just do the math...
Personally, I thought the price sounded a bit steep 🤣

That’s pretty standard for custom cakes, too—they usually charge by the slice. You decide how many people you're feeding and the price fluctuates accordingly. That’s actually what my cousin ended up paying back in Charlotte...

I recently treated myself to a chocolate mousse cake topped with fresh strawberries... it was absolutely divine. There’s something about that light, chilled texture that just hits the spot perfectly. Truly heavenly. I highly recommend seeking one out. It also featured a layer of marzipan on top, which was a brilliant touch. I’ve actually gone ahead and bookmarked a few posts right above this one that feature the recipe. They're excellent.

My cousin had a cake just like this one at her wedding two weeks ago (specifically that bottom right one with the strawberries...). Every single tier was coated in that marzipan... and I have to say, it was incredibly delicious. It wasn't even overly sweet, which was a pleasant surprise.

fadedmaker84 said:Which of you ladies who have posted photos of your cakes here actually used marzipan for the "glaze"? We specifically coordinated with the bakery to have the cake covered in fondant, but now they're calling to say that since the July heatwaves are hitting so hard, they just can't work with fondant anymore. They told us if we want, we can go with marzipan instead. I've never actually eaten a cake covered entirely in marzipan; I only remember it as that incredibly hard substance used for tiny cake decorations. Won't the whole cake be rock hard if it's completely encased in it? Visually, marzipan looks similar to fondant, but I honestly have no idea how it's actually going to turn out🤷 and I don't have a chance to go down there right now to see it or taste it. God, I hate dealing with unreliable service; it's always something—they either don't have what you need, they can't do it, or they simply won't. grrrrrrrrrr
Thanks, ladies.

I recently had a slice of wedding cake at a reception that was covered in marzipan... but I mean the soft, high-quality kind. Personally, I think it's fantastic; it’s incredibly smooth. I suspect you might be thinking of that rock-hard stuff they use for modeling, which isn't how you glaze a cake. There is a much softer variety that works beautifully. It’s sweet—perhaps too sweet for some, but just right for others—but if you ask me, it's delicious.

I’m on the same page. Carl Myers7—my cousin, actually—had a wedding cake for about 80 guests just a few days ago, and she shelled out roughly $567... It was massive, three tiers high, and I suspect they were actually pricing it for over 100 people... which makes your quote look incredibly reasonable by comparison.

Harold Sanders said:man, I gotta say, this is actually 😍 pretty freaking adorable!

Are you seriously suggesting that the quality of my photos is actually that subpar? 🤣

I decided to include that one gore torte because I recognize how much effort goes into making them, even if they aren't exactly my cup of tea personally. I wanted to give them credit where it's due. My actual style leans much more toward the other things I post around here; those early entries at the top of this page represent something entirely different from my usual aesthetic.
