Laura Booth6 said:Does anyone here have actual experience sending, receiving, or transferring funds from Canada?

How on earth do you even manage that?

I managed to receive a payment from Canada once, but I had to go through Western Union to make it happen. 🙂>
Honestly, my medicine cabinet is always stocked with the essentials: Tylenol, DayQuil, Advil, and Voltaren. I’ll occasionally pick up some effervescent supplements from CVS, and that pretty much covers it. 😬
Oh, and I keep various anti-inflammatory creams and similar ointments on hand too. 😬
granitewalker17 said:I haven't sent anything through the mail all year, so I'm wondering—what’s the best way to ship perfume?
Do I send it as a boxed package with a declared value, or just stick it in a padded envelope as certified mail?
It’s definitely under 250 grams... and the value is $23....
What kind of price difference am I looking at between those two options?

thanks 🙂

If you ask me, I sent perfume once by using certified mail via a padded envelope. I made sure to wrap it incredibly well in bubble wrap, taped it up tight, and then tucked it inside a small yellow protective sleeve before sealing that inside an even larger envelope. It arrived without a scratch. 🙂
nimblepanther27 said:Angela Flores76 —but how exactly am I supposed to ship a perfume then?🤔

I couldn't tell you for certain, honestly. All I know is the general rule of thumb is that you shouldn't be mailing liquids at all. At least, that’s what I was told, even though I’ve sent things as packages before by wrapping them up like crazy—I mean, I wrapped mine like a hundred times just to be safe. Plus, I always make sure to ask them to slap one of those "Fragile" stickers on it.🙂
boldwalker16 said:The staff at the local USPS office are just incredibly rude. Honestly, no matter what you show up with—be it a simple bubble mailer or a massive box—it’s never "good enough" for them; they always have some unsolicited critique to throw at you. If you bring an envelope, suddenly you're doing it wrong; "You can't send it this way, you need to send it as certified mail or something." But the absolute peak of their audacity? It was when the woman behind the counter actually had the nerve to ask me what was inside my envelope (the bubble one, mind you). I mean, since when is that any of her business?? 😲 😕 Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense? 🤷 And while we're on the subject, regarding the rates—it's rare that the postage ends up being just 12-$4.25; it’s almost always over $6.00 (and that's just for sending stuff in bubble mailers).

Well, it depends on what you were trying to ship. They aren't allowed to transport perfumes or liquids, so they actually have a right to ask. 😉
Should you give your phone number to panhandlers? in Miscellaneous ·
Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue. 🤷 It’s entirely plausible that I would just go along with it, simply because I lack the basic instinct to react properly in those kinds of situations—and frankly, the thought of being rude enough to refuse sounds utterly mortifying. 🤷
Maria Roberts said:Sales tax hasn't been abolished; I just paid it today on everything I did at the Post Office.

Look, I don't know what kind of transactions you were conducting, but sales tax on postal shipments was indeed eliminated, which is exactly why shipping rates have dropped. 🙂
nimblepanther27 said:How long does it typically take for cash sent via the post office to actually hit a bank account at Chase? 🤔
Thanks🙏

The postal service moves at a snail's pace compared to banks, doesn't it? Still, I can't imagine the delay would be astronomical this time around. 🤷
It’s about time they finally lowered the shipping costs—or rather, since we aren't being hit with that sales tax anymore. 🎉
I honestly cannot fathom why anyone is still opting for standard shipping in this day and age! 😲
And frankly, she really should have been upfront about using standard delivery from the start. If you claim to have any real experience in sales, you ought to be explicitly laying out every single one of your terms. Isn't it just common sense? A buyer—especially someone just starting out—doesn't know all the little tricks and pitfalls you might encounter. Wouldn't it be infinitely simpler to just present clear shipping options and explain the specifics of each method right away? 😕
Laura Morris4 said:Look, this is my first time posting in this thread, so I’m hoping someone can help me out here...
I ordered a handbag from this girl online. The bag itself was $17, and she offered a 10% discount, which makes it $15
. So, I asked her how much the shipping would be so I could send the full amount at once, and she told me $8.25... basically, $70 total including everything.

Well, the package arrived today via standard mail, and guess what? The actual shipping cost was only $13, $27
.
It isn't even about the extra cash... it's the principle! Why couldn't she just have included $3.25 in the price of the bag, or at least sent a private message admitting she messed up the math?

It wouldn't have killed her to be honest. This isn't how a decent seller operates; she's just being dishonest...

To make matters worse, she claimed the bag only had a tiny scratch, but when I opened it, the whole thing is scuffed from front to back...

I am beyond disappointed.

Situations like this are an immediate red flag. Are we seriously living in a world where someone tries to overcharge $8.25 for shipping?! 😲 🙄

And the fact that the bag didn't even match the description? That’s enough to make anyone see red. 😳
brightcobra772 said:back when I was living out in the suburbs, I never once had to cough up a dime when a package showed up at my door. But now that I've moved into the city near downtown Chicago, every single time the mail carrier arrives, I'm expected to pay $1.75. Seriously, wtf? Where am I even supposed to pay $5.00 when they show up with $1.75 like this? Does anyone actually know why this is happening? And more importantly, how can I avoid this headache? Thanks in advance for any help! 🙂

This topic has already been covered around here. Personally, I have *always* had to pay those $1.75 whenever a delivery driver pulls up in a car or a van to drop off my stuff. My regular mail carrier never asks for anything, but the specific guys driving the delivery trucks? They always want their money. 🤷

Two weeks ago, I sold a shirt to a girl; she paid the full amount immediately, everything was seamless and went exactly according to our agreement. I shipped it out the following day, along with two other small packages, yet those two arrived instantly while this first one is still nowhere to be found. I stopped by the USPS office after five days, and the clerk there informed me that because of the holiday rush, things are moving slower than usual—essentially telling me not to worry and that it would arrive eventually. I don't have any sort of receipt or tracking slip. However, the girl keeps telling me that the package still hasn't shown up. She mentioned something about moving house recently, and I wonder if that might have anything to do with this whole mess.
So now I find myself wondering, what on earth am I supposed to do? 😕The buyer is genuinely wonderful and paid upfront, and I sent the item promptly, yet she still hasn't received her new shirt.😢

Listen, she ought to check her old address if she moved during the interim and you sent it to the previous location. It is possible the package is sitting at a local post office or perhaps got left behind there. 🤷

Unfortunately, if you lack any proof of postage, your hands are tied.
Maria Thompson4 said:Hey there! I don't have the energy to wade through all these comments right now... but what happens if she "forgets" to send the money after I've already paid her, then claims she "sent it" but nothing ever shows up? It’s been nearly three months. She won't even bother going down to the local USPS branch to check if it was lost in the mail or anything. 🤷

The sheer audacity! That is immediately unacceptable! Why should anyone care if other people received their funds when you're still left empty-handed? You aren't "other people." ☕

Why hasn't a single one of the moderators from the Classifieds section bothered to weigh in with an actual comment on this thread?

Does reporting posts even serve any practical purpose at all? 😕
How do I use Multi-Quote? in Forum Help! ·
@redhawk76

So, here is how you handle quoting text:

HTML Code:
text you want to quote

Now, sure, you could sit there and type out the code manually if you really enjoy wasting your time, but why bother? It’s much simpler to just highlight the entire block of text and click this little icon shown in the image. It’ll generate the code for you automatically. Isn't life easier when you don't have to do everything by hand?

It seems to me that PalmaSutre hasn't been around for a few days now, and as for Taipan... I honestly have no idea what’s going on with him; personally, I haven't noticed him performing any moderation duties lately.🤷

@rapidrider3/">@@rapidrider3 — Look, I suppose there’s nothing wrong with someone wanting their own dedicated thread for various topics, but let’s be realistic: if you’re going to do it, pick one single thread instead of cluttering the board with five different ones. And for heaven's sake, can we agree on an update schedule? Maybe once every five days? Instead, we get hit with posts every single day or every other day. It isn't "engagement"; it's just pure, unadulterated spam. It's pointless. That’s exactly why this entire PDF is such a bloated, overstuffed mess. Honestly, it shouldn't take much effort at all to clean this up—it's purely a matter of willpower. Or rather, it's a matter of whether the people in charge actually have the spine to do it. 😳

boldhound8 said:Look, I’ve said it before—on three different forums, including this very one (which you really ought to remember)—and believe me, it’s true. You simply cannot maintain order on such a niche forum without some level of authority.

But see, clearly "dictatorship" means something entirely different to you than it does to me. 😬
To me, it isn't "dictatorship" when an admin merges five separate threads from a single user into one dedicated topic, or deletes posts that don't belong. No. This specific forum has its own unique rules, and it should be treated as such. Of course there needs to be a certain degree of strictness to keep things organized.

However, as I have already stated, the primary issue with this board is exclusively those individual threads that multiply like crazy. Here is a recent example—some guy is selling nothing but clothing, yet he opened four (?!?!?!) separate threads: 🙂 😠

men's jeans
men's sweaters and tees
Ralph Lauren men's tee
Calvin Klein men's tee

Seriously, what is the point?! 😕 🙄

If you have just five people doing that every day, opening four threads each, you end up with as many topics as your heart desires.

And yes, another major problem with this board is the lack of moderators—there should be at least four active moderators working staggered shifts. If there were more hands on deck, maintaining the board would be much easier, and I am certain order could actually be established that way. It would be far more efficient and faster than the current mess. 😳

@boldhound8/">@@boldhound8 - Look, I’m not suggesting we turn this place into some kind of digital dictatorship, but does it really need to be this way? Is it truly necessary for a single user to clutter our feed with five different threads when they could just consolidate everything into one coherent post? Why on earth are we opening an entirely new thread just to talk about one single item of clothing when we already have a dedicated mega-thread for apparel and similar stuff? It’s inefficient, isn't it? 😳
