Car loans in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, I’m thinking about picking up a used car, and honestly, I have zero clue how the whole financing thing actually works. Before I go wasting my breath knocking on doors at places like Chase or Bank of America, can someone walk me through the process? Since I’m pretty convinced most dealership guys are just looking for any excuse to rip you off, I’d much rather buy from a private seller—you know, just find something decent on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. My big question is: can I just walk into a bank and be like, "Hey, good morning; look, I want to buy a car, but I haven't found the right one yet, so can I just grab the cash now so when something pops up I can snatch it up immediately without all the extra headache later?" Is the bank just going to give me that look—you know, the one where they basically say, "Please take as much money as possible so we can fleece you like a sheep"—or are they going to demand things like a pre-purchase inspection or some other bureaucratic nonsense I read about online? Because if that's the case, how on earth are people buying and selling so many cars privately? I hope this makes sense—I'm just looking for a little enlightenment here. Thanks. 👍

Just put "bring your own rocks" on the flyer
Kudos to the dogs—maybe then the festival might actually gain some quality. 👍
Total disaster. I took one look at the lineup (if you can even call it that) and just...
Just one 7-$2.75 if I had to pick anything worth actually showing up for.

I mean, if you actually know your way around Pro/ENGINEER, CATIA, or even Inventor... now *that* shows some actual skill. 🙏 🙏

But honestly? The real pros are the ones who actually understand the trade.
From my own experience, no software on the planet can replace that. Sure, being fast in a program speeds things up, but if you don't actually grasp how the end product works, you might as well throw it all in the trash—forgetting everything about German precision or high-end CAD.

Steven Robinson31 said:First off, head over to your layout tab. Set up your printer and pick whatever paper size you want—just right-click the layout name, hit "Page Setup Manager," and then "Modify." Once that's set, create a viewport if you don't have one already (use the -vports command).
Now you should see your entire drawing inside that viewport (sort of like when you run a zoom extents in Model space). To actually get "inside" the model from the layout, just double-click anywhere within the viewport boundaries or click the "PAPER" button at the bottom of the screen. From there, you can move around, zoom, and pan however you like. When you're done and want to get back to the layout view, just double-click outside the viewport or click the "MODEL" button at the bottom.

As for how the DVIEW command works: jump into Model space via the layout and type "dview" into the command line, hitting enter twice. It’ll throw a bunch of options at you—just type "TW" and hit enter. Then, it’ll ask for the rotation angle. By default, this is an absolute angle (counterclockwise) starting from East. Once you've entered the angle and hit enter-enter, jump back out to your layout, and your drawing should be rotated exactly how you wanted. That's pretty much it.

It works. 😁 Thanks a ton.

Steven Robinson31 said:you can totally handle that through the layout—no sweat—just use the dview command (pro tip: you'll need to jump from the layout back into model space for the command to actually trigger)

Can you walk me through the steps? 🙂 I'm honestly lost on how that actually works 🤔
nimbleotter18 said:Look, you can't really mess with the rotation settings in the Page Setup Manager to align things with the drawing—it just won't let you do it—so I'm not sure if there's any workaround there. Either leave it be or just rotate the entire drawing itself; honestly, that shouldn't be much of a headache.

Yeah, I figured, but I was still wondering...
thanks 👍
nimbleotter18 said:I tried it myself and finally figured out the idea—thanks! 👍 I've been at this since 2008.

I actually didn't know about this part, but now I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to arrange my symbols in the command space around the drawing area.

Honestly, I have no clue on that one, though you’re going to need a massive monitor to pull it off.😁
P.S. I put up a post earlier but nobody's biting. Maybe you'll know—how do I print drawings that are set at an angle without rotating them back to horizontal or vertical?
Best,

Does anyone know how I can print drawings from AutoCAD (2006) when they’re stuck at some weird angle?
I'm trying to figure out how to grab the frame corners so it actually prints normally—you know, like a standard horizontal or vertical layout instead of this mess.
nimbleotter18 said:Alright, so I toss all my blocks into one folder—now what? How am I supposed to call them up using CTRL+2? Can you be a little more specific here?

Look, saving them in a folder is fine—doesn't really matter where. Just hit CTRL+2 and the DESIGN CENTER window pops up. Find your folder on the left side, and once you double-click a file, a bunch of icons will show up in the right pane (blocks, dimstyles, layers, etc.). Double-click "blocks" to see your stuff, then just drag and drop them straight into your drawing. Or, if you prefer, just use copy/paste, or right-click the block and select "insert block"—that way you can actually scale it before dropping it in. This is all based on how AutoCAD 2006 works, anyway; I haven't a clue about the newer versions.

It’s honestly such a drag—every single time I work on a new layout, I have to manually copy all my custom symbols (which I’ve set up as blocks)
over to the workspace just so I can pull them from there when needed.

What I actually want is to have them floating right there near my drawing area—you know, like a toolbar where you can just click an icon.
Basically, I want them as icons that stay pinned to my screen every time I launch AutoCAD.

I’m pretty sure it’s possible, but I haven't a clue how to pull it off.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!🙏

I'm not sure if this will do the trick for you, but you could try dumping all those blocks you use into one specific folder. Then, whenever you need one, just hit CTRL+2—that should open up your Design Center by default—and you can just drag and drop whatever you need directly into the file.
Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but that's all I've got.

Jerry Martin19 said:It’s just a colorful circus for bottom-feeders now—not actually a punk festival, just a magnet for every kind of lowlife out there. It's been going downhill for years.

Look, sorry if I stepped on any toes here—I'm just being blunt. All I'm saying is the festival was total garbage. A few years back, it was actually decent; now? Not even close.

Man, the crowd was absolutely electric—honestly, I think they were easily the most well-received band of the night. And if you ask me? They actually played pretty damn well, too.

Try listening to some punk—though honestly, Spike's stuff just feels like high schoolers trying too hard to be edgy. But once you dive in... 🤣 It’s got those dual guitars working in thirds. When I first heard it, I genuinely thought it was just another Iron Maiden cover band.

David Bishop14 said:Wait, did that festival actually end up happening? My brother skipped it because of the rain, so I'm curious if it was a total wash or if things actually went down last minute.

It happened on Saturday.

What a total disaster of a festival. If this was supposed to be a punk fest, why was three-quarters of the lineup nothing but metal? And not even good metal—just straight-up garbage. Shout out to those guys from Chicago (can’t remember their name, but they played right before the last set) though—they were the only ones who actually saved the vibe.
Kudos to the crew for putting in the work and getting this organized, 👍 but seriously, next year just call it "Dora" and bring in someone like Jack White, or better yet, send him back to where he belongs and actually get some organization in the lineup.

Tutu; he was my absolute first introduction—I’ve listened to a ton of them since then, but honestly, this one still stands as the best
