The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
GustiSok said:off topic

I mean, I guess I get Ukrainians better than I ever could understand Canadians. 😁

It’s kind of the same deal with Ukrainians or Russians... they probably have a better handle on Canadians than we ever will.

Explosions rocking Kyiv, Russians hitting yet another city. Zelenskyy says this night is gonna be the worst one yet.

Explosions and gunfire echoing through Kyiv. Zelenskyy: ‘This is going to be the toughest night, they’re hitting us hard.’
In some pretty intense video message, the Ukrainian president warned that the Russians are aiming to take Kyiv tonight.

...except, I guess the Ukrainian news sites aren't really mentioning the full story here:
https://www.ukrinform.ua/
https://www.unian.ua/

They're all talking about a downed Russian Il-76 and some baby born in a subway station.

Just spinning those patriotic vibes.

Someone's definitely muddying the waters over there.

BTW. Maidan just means square, so you can't really call it Maidan Square.
The actual name is Maidan Nezalezhnosti or Independence Square.

So, we’re talking about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. ☕

Gregory Ramos3 said:Probably... I was just catching some news on CNN about how Romanian planes intercepted a Ukrainian fighter that drifted into their airspace, since they've been ramping up patrols and staying on high alert since Thursday...

The Ukrainian F-15 Eagle probably just ran out of fuel and didn't have any backup, so landing in Romania was basically its only move.

So, I just saw some reports about a Topol-M ICBM being prepped for launch—apparently carrying a warhead capable of hitting the USA—over in western Russia. They’ve got something like twenty of those things stationed right in that sector, and honestly, it feels like it has absolutely nothing to do with the situation in Ukraine. Just my two cents, I guess.

Quote : Sunny Ways said:That tank and those two vehicles are all part of the same unit... they were just posing as Ukrainians after crossing the line. They realized who they actually were pretty fast once they got caught, and then they got absolutely crushed.

And that’s really all there is to it.

Or even simpler—they wrecked a car, blamed it on some fog, and cooked up this whole story about evil saboteurs. I mean, come on. It’s hard to believe there isn't a single photo or video out there showing a destroyed convoy getting intercepted during a routine trip into town.

GustiSok said:Wouldn't it be better if people actually saw the raw reality of war? Obviously, you'd gotta throw in those necessary graphic content warnings first.

After having to wade through this absolute train wreck of a rant, maybe we don't need more of those scenes. I mean, really. No.

The Democratic Party in Kyiv is running at full capacity
https://www.unian.ua/war/vibuhi-na-k...-11718481.html

Electricity and heat are being fully supplied to Kyiv, according to a statement given to UNIAN by Mykola Povoroznyk, the first deputy head of the Kyiv City Administration.

"We aren't looking at any risk of blackouts. Everything is up and running. There’s really no threat of disconnections here. Yeah, there were some explosions near the Tetz-6 plant, but the power station itself didn't take any hits. We've got another shift on duty right now. Everyone's clocked in and making sure the city keeps its lights on and stays warm." - he said.

There were a few smaller blasts nearby, but the thermal plant is doing just fine.

Leman_Russ said:Has it even crossed anyone's mind that the Ukrainians might just blow up those gas pipelines themselves if they realize the game is up? Maybe it’s some EU revenge tactic because they're total cowards, or maybe it’s just about hitting Russia where it hurts—cutting off their cash flow.

And then, obviously, since there's no gas flowing anymore, Russia loses one of its biggest bargaining chips.

I mean, looking at the data here, half of it moves right through Ukraine.

But clearly that isn't what happened, seeing as the Ukrainians have been complaining for months about how little the Russians are actually pushing through their territory.
Like I said before, if lonetrucker4 decides to bail, that whole subforum is pretty much dead in the water anyway.
Honestly, I doubt we’ll ever find another mod who could actually handle this kind of constant, years-long harassment. If my colleague finally just snaps one of these days, there’s really no other option but to shut that subforum down entirely.
Grace Wood5 said:I think we both know what I was getting at here. 🙂
I wasn't asking for special treatment from lonetrucker4, and I don't expect to get any. We agree on some things and clash on others.
This isn't the first thread where the concerned crowd has tried to unnecessarily kick lonetrucker4 to the curb, and I just couldn't sit there and stay quiet anymore.
The only reason I call him "Sharp" is because I think he's way too soft when it comes to policing the nonsense posted on this forum—but again, that's just my personal take.
Anyway, I'm done with this topic. I said what I needed to say, and my coffee is getting cold. 😉

I see you're rushing off to fix that coffee like a hero. 😬
Grace Wood5 said:Look, sorry, but responding to your concerned post was just a reaction—it wasn't provocation.
And as you’ve so graciously observed, this was one of the rare times your concern was actually correctly identified and assessed.
But like I said, driftingtinker is taking over that role. The moderator setup is different now, and there's less tolerance for nonsense. Consequently, I (likely the biggest troll and spammer on this entire board) will be getting banned way more often, leaving you all free to keep posting exactly how you always have. 🙂

Nobody is out here collecting bans like trading cards, and nobody is just gonna run wild doing whatever they feel like.

As long as people aren't jumping down throats, throwing personal insults, or intentionally derailing threads, we shouldn't have any issues. Everything else is fine by me... I mean, it's hard to imagine criteria being any more chill than this.

Banning isn't the move; just deleting the messy posts is a much better tool to use.

Though, if I had to take a quick look at the situation, I’d say maybe 90% of the drama on this forum comes from the fact that most people would rather pick a fight with lonetrucker4 than actually have a conversation.

I actually went back to pull a few examples from that day, and when I look at your last 50 posts, 23 of them (from Canada/Mexico) have already been nuked by several different mods. And honestly? Even looking through the remaining 27, I’m struggling to find anything remotely constructive.

Let's just drop it, but take this as your final warning before we move toward a partial ban.
Master thread for delete post requests in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Look, there’s this rule called "this forum isn't your personal playground," which basically means you don't get to dictate what everyone else writes or where they post. And honestly? You don't owe anyone an explanation for your own takes either.

The whole thing about constant daily deletions is just a blatant lie, and I’m not even gonna touch the fact that someone spent today playing games by reposting the exact same deleted content four times in a row. Then, to top it all off, you have the nerve to drop a link to this complaint in the thread like you're some kind of sage.
I mean, it still doesn't make sense why some outsider thinks they can just swoop in and lecture everyone. Every single sandbar has its own weird little quirks and complex dynamics that you just wouldn't get from the outside.
Jeremy Johnson18 said:One of the first things I suggested when I stepped up to mod was that people try taking a slightly different approach with you. Honestly, I thought it was just an issue with the politka side of things.
Obviously, that didn't work and I just ended up looking like a naive idiot, but I'm glad you and Andreja are on good terms now.

So, it actually works after all. 👍

We had this brutal start where everything just escalated out of nowhere, and then we basically settled the whole mess with one exchange: "Can we just wrap this up?" — "Fine."

and it feels 🙂
Jerry Robinson56 said:Review:

😂 Fantastic. If my memory serves me right, I received a similar warning ages ago, though it was retracted immediately, so technically it doesn't count.

But look, since moderator Jeremy Johnson18 stated that moderator recommendations actually carry weight... why don't you try pushing for a pardon on his behalf?

The team knows what they're doing, and they do it pretty damn well.
Larry Walker24 said:Oh yeah, give that guy an Oscar already!! 😂 😂 😂

As for me—what kind of nonsense is this ban? Then I look up and my blood pressure hits the ceiling. He doesn't even moderate that section. And of course, I just get hit with canned responses.

I didn't quite catch how you're whining in the chat of a different subforum instead of staying here on ours.🙂

From Nice—she's actually given me my biggest streak (can't say exactly how many, but it's a lot)

I keep a running tally of my cards, so I always know exactly who’s been hitting me up (not counting yellows)

At one point, I hit 990 points

The absolute peak, though—getting carded while you're already banned

Did you totally forget about that warning from the mod who doesn't even moderate this subforum? 🙂
