Alex Moore3 said:They skipped us in my neighborhood again too. After I called, Sanitation gave me the excuse that they won't be back until the next regularly scheduled pickup. They apologized, claiming they're short on workers and trucks, but promised they're working through the backlog so everyone gets at least one pickup a week. You really think it's just 5%?😁

Just notice how I'm quoting what I saw on Index.

In my neck of the woods, they actually handled the last two pickups, and they even power-washed the street yesterday.

Update: they're emptying the bins right now

Eric Adams is out here claiming things are finally "getting back on track" with the trash pickup in New York City. Apparently, 95 percent of the routes are running perfectly on time, and he’s acting like that’s some kind of huge win. He says the other five percent is just a minor delay in certain routes, insisting there aren't any missed pickups—just slight delays—and that they'll have it all sorted out "very soon."

I mean, easy for him to say, I guess. In my neighborhood, they've already skipped three pickups in a row.

Look, folks... this stuff is just unreadable and (for the most part) totally off-topic. Just stop it already. ☕

That moment when some legacy political hack who only got their job through cronyism calls for your resignation 😢

Let's move this whole RO debate over to the right thread:

New York City scrapping the parental caregiver allowance

Benjamin James6 said:I shall wait, and wait. Eventually, I will go see for myself.
It reminds me quite a bit of how they handled the traffic flow through Taylor Swift's neighborhood; they initially insisted it was physically impossible and went into great detail explaining why, only to suddenly declare it perfectly doable just one afternoon later after facing some intense public pressure. By the way, that particular promise wasn't even tied to the repairs on John Doe's street.

On a side note, you happen to be a media professional outside of this forum, don't you? I couldn't help but notice that you have a very distinct writing style that is quite characteristic of a journalist.

Then I roll by the underpass around 9:00 AM this morning and it’s totally deserted. I guess I'm just lost.

By the way, are you some kind of media professional outside of this forum? You've got that specific writing style that screams journalist.

Thankfully, no. Just IT.

Benjamin James6 said:I find it quite difficult to comprehend how a party leadership packed with such an abundance of legal experts, specifically within the Možemovac ranks, could be so utterly incapable of assessing whether this particular measure could actually be overturned. It seems to me that since Benčićka dedicated her studies until the age of 35, she surely established a profound mastery of her field, making her perhaps one of the most qualified legal minds available to them.

When you consider all those other lofty promises that have suddenly become impossible to fulfill—much like the proposed Medpotoki underpass project—it truly begins to look as though they were simply shouting empty rhetoric during the campaign, much like Kamala Harris used to do.

So, what's the deal with Medpotoki?

Residents over in Gajnice are supposedly getting closer to that promised underpass; apparently, they're actually looking for designers now.

Quincy:
April 26, 2022.
After finally getting the location permit back in 2019, they've put out a tender worth three million dollars for a firm to handle the main and execution designs for extending Medpotoki Street in Gajnice. Once that's done, they can move on to the construction permit.

Court rules against Adams, parental leave subsidy returns

The Supreme Court just dropped its ruling regarding the parental leave measure.

A five-judge panel basically declared Adams's move to scrap the program illegal.

With this Supreme Court ruling, the decision on amendments to parental leave financial assistance is being tossed out. It’s officially dead once they publish the verdict in The New York Times.

Adams reacted to the news.

"We’re pretty disappointed with the court's call, and we'll have to figure out what legal moves are left to try and flip this. There might still be some room to maneuver, I guess. We just can't have over half a billion in funds sitting there frozen," the New York City mayor said after the ruling came down.

There are parents and an unnamed counterpart standing outside the courthouse, and she was saying how happy everyone is about the verdict.

"Christmas and Easter were totally ruined for them. Now, more than 5,000 people can actually get by again," the unnamed counterpart said.

"Adams lied when he said this wasn't working. Demographers showed that third-generation births went up by 25 percent over five years. Then there was the lie that scrapping the measure followed the Constitution. And the third story they tried to tell against these women was that they just sit at home doing nothing," she added.

"He spent eight months lying—just look at the faces of these women," she said.

It started 😢

The Supreme Court is dropping its ruling on the foster parent stipend measure today.

Quentin Tarantino said:
N1 is reporting that the Supreme Court will release its assessment today regarding whether the changes to the foster parent financial aid policy are actually legal. This is all tied up in a massive consolidated case involving nine separate requests from 320 different petitioners.

Back in April, the Supreme Court put the city's decision on hold until they could rule on the actual merits of the case, so I guess that suspension officially ends today.

Eric Adams warned back then that while everyone waits for the court to decide if these amended foster parent payments are lawful, it’s costing New York City about $6 million every single month.

Looks like we should see the verdict around 10 AM.

Since they started tearing up Scranton, the BBQ pit area basically turned into a makeshift bypass
https://www.nytimes.com/news/us/scranton-roadworks-traffic-updates-8183306

So, they dumped a bunch of new gravel on it the other day, which just made the dust situation way worse, I guess. Then, a day later, you’ve got these city workers showing up to lay down some caution tape, only to bolt the second they see an actual car coming around the corner 😬

Looks like Kurt Vonnegut managed to at least mitigate the traffic nightmare on the west side of town since they shut down that underpass over on Scranton street:

I say "mitigate" because, honestly, all that traffic is just gonna funnel straight through the Suburban neighborhood now. You’ll have some guy driving in from Appalachia flying down Florence like he’s in a demolition derby, and trying to pull a U-turn at 2 PM? Yeah, that’s basically a guaranteed arrest. But hey, I guess they’re actually trying to do something for once and finally listened to the complaining.

Gotta give credit where it's due though—Main Street did a pretty killer job with the new road markings:

😬

BTW, reading the comments from the locals in those small-town Facebook groups is always a trip. It's the same old story every single time—it's split right down the middle. Half the people are happy, and the other half are just whining about how taxpayer money is being flushed down the toilet and bitching about the colorful park benches, claiming Eric Adams hasn't worked a single actual day in his life.🙂

Christmas season stalls are heading back to Central Park, plus they're hitting up local neighborhoods too

So, last year’s Christmas season in New York City felt a little... I don't know, stripped back? Different vibes. Some people dug it, I guess, but others definitely felt like it was missing that certain spark. Well, anyway, the city just put out the RFPs for this year's festivities, and the big news is they’re spreading things out beyond just the downtown core—so you’ll actually see celebrations popping up in other neighborhoods now. Oh, and those little holiday stalls? They're making a comeback at Central Park and Washington Square Park.

What about an ice rink?
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue. When you're dealing with questions like this, logic isn't even really part of the equation, I guess.
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
Coffee. Honestly, just coffee. I don't know, maybe I'm just looking for a reason to stay awake through this whole mess, but yeah... coffee. kaže:
Of course I won't, because just because the word "systematization" isn't explicitly written in Section 167 of the Penal Code doesn't mean you can just assume it applies to what's being discussed. I mean, that's not really how this works, I guess.

So, they finally dropped that new regulation about job titles and complexity coefficients for public sector roles. Honestly? It’s just more bureaucracy piled on top of an already bloated system. I mean, we all know how this goes... they spend months tweaking some technical jargon about "complexity levels" and "positional grading," and for what? It feels like they're just moving numbers around on a spreadsheet to make it look like they're actually doing something productive. It's probably going to be a massive headache for anyone trying to navigate the civil service hierarchy. Everything is so needlessly complicated. You've got these layers upon layers of definitions, and half the time, it feels like the whole thing is designed to keep people guessing about where they actually stand in the pecking order. I guess it might bring some semblance of structure, maybe, if you believe in that kind of thing. But knowing how things usually play out in government offices, it'll likely just lead to more red tape and endless debates over who deserves which coefficient. Just another day in the life of dealing with administrative nonsense, I suppose.

You seriously think anyone around here gives a damn about those five or six links you've been dragging out for months? It’s just straight-up spam, man. Honestly, you're just killing the thread.

I mean, I don't know. Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I feel like we're all just circling the drain here. It’s like... you look at the news, you look at what’s happening in New York City with Eric Adams, and you just wonder if anyone actually has a plan. Probably not. Everything feels a bit broken, doesn't it? Just a bunch of noise and people shouting into the void while nothing really changes. I guess that's just how it goes now. Nothing's ever as simple as they make it out to be on TV, I suppose. Just my two cents, anyway. Whatever. I guess... maybe I should mention what they said:
Forget those polls for a second—most of them are either rigged from the jump or just straight-up incompetent, I guess. But seriously, do you actually think there's any way around it? It feels like they’re in a total freefall right now.

I mean, let's be real... if anyone else had stepped into the mayor's seat in a city this wrecked, they’d be in a total freefall regardless. It wouldn't even matter if they personally hand-delivered a gourmet Starbucks latte to every single resident's bedside every morning. They'd still be sinking.

Then there’s that glorious little poll from the Republican party's go-to polling firm. What a joke.
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
darkhawk30 said:If the Democratic Party is reporting it, I’m sure it’s true. 🍿

The poll was put together by that communications agency run by those well-known Republican Party pollsters:
Double disaster for the owner of the *** communications agency

Eventually, K. K. took over the agency—his buddy used to be the Vice President of the New York City Council representing the Independent for America party back in the last term.

Independent for America will back Bloomberg's budget if he supports their amendments

Yeah, well... 😬

I purposely blurred out the agency's name, because honestly, we don't need Google driving them straight into the arms of the already pissed-off voters.
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
K. so, most unlucky souls around here already know the deal—the West Side is basically a total disaster zone right now because of those underpass renovations over on Scarsdale. It’s pretty ironic, though, since just a hundred yards away, there’s this tiny little passage that’s been blocked off forever:

I mean, it’s been shut down for at least 20 years... way before we were all just kids playing hide-and-seek with cops who were busy shaking people down for cash. Over the years, with all the different construction projects going on, there were plenty of chances to actually open that path up, but every single attempt just got brushed off by the higher-ups.

That is, until 2022.

http://www.abload.de/img/mejeq.jpg

It would’ve been great if someone had actually thought of this before the construction crews even showed up, but honestly, this move is such a huge leap forward that half the neighborhood probably thinks I'm making this whole thing up.😬
Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·
neonpuma30 said:I honestly thought people would speak up, but I'm totally baffled that nobody’s raising hell about saving our green spaces from all this aggressive concrete jungle madness.

It feels like we're just stuck with Bloomberg’s old playbook, letting them ruin perfectly good neighborhoods by cramming in new concrete slabs where they absolutely don't belong.👎

Seriously though, does anyone actually think our current infrastructure can handle this? No wonder the sewers always smell and finding a parking spot in this city is a total nightmare.👎

All of this is just what the Whistleblower is putting out there.

neonpuma30 said:I still remember how everyone in the Suburban neighborhood fought tooth and nail to save their local park from that greedy church trying to snatch it up. I was just passing by the other day, and if my eyes aren't deceiving me, they're already building three little apartment buildings right where the park used to be. But wait—there’s zero mention of this anywhere! Can someone please fill me in on how they pulled that off?

So, that's definitely not the right lot.
