1. The Religion PDF doesn't have a moderator. Look, I absolutely LOVE Bubija, he's the best, but he isn't moderating that section here.
2. Speaking of this whole skeptic thing—if you're going to act like a believer, just move over to: (theology and religious practice). Honestly, any bickering from either side should get penalized. And seriously, why won't they look at point number 1?
3. Let's be real, 90% of the people posting in there are either believers heading to Mass for Christmas and Easter or just straight-up atheists and agnostics.
We’ll finally know by March 2023 if that Wimbledon ban is sticking around for another year. On top of that, Paris just announced they're banning both Russia and Belarus from the 2024 Olympics.
Man, I remember subbing for a high school class once, and these seniors were basically counting down the seconds until they could ditch Greek forever. They didn't mind Latin much, but Greek? Total nightmare for them.
Sarah Hall53 said:So, I was digging through some data earlier—just one of those rabbit holes you fall down when you can't sleep—and I stumbled upon this list. It’s basically a breakdown of the top 20 high schools in the entire US based on their students' average test scores. It's pretty wild how much of a gap there is between some of these places and others... anyway, here it is. Honestly, there are over twenty different high schools in a city like Chicago—and you know how competitive things get around here—so I’m pretty sure that kid with the 74 score is going to find a great spot somewhere. There's always a place for them, really.
Michelle Nelson4 said:You’re absolutely right, that’s just the average. It’s actually quite interesting—I was under the impression that knowing the lowest score that still qualifies would be much more critical information for us to have. Looking at the table they published, you can't actually see the individual grades, though I highly doubt they were all perfect 4.0s.
So, Dmitry Peskov is out here claiming that tons of Ukrainians actually want to become Russian citizens now. During some chat with reporters, Peskov was basically saying that folks living in the areas under Russian occupation in southern and eastern Ukraine have the option to pick up Russian citizenship if they want to.
According to Reuters, Vladimir Putin just signed a decree that makes it way easier for Ukrainians to grab Russian citizenship.
Looking at the paperwork on the Russian government's site, Putin’s basically opened the floodgates for a simplified citizenship process "for all citizens of Ukraine."
Before this, according to TASS, that fast-track citizenship was only for folks in the DPR and LPR, plus the areas of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson currently held by Russian forces. Now, they're widening the net.
At first glance, I thought you were just giving someone free advertising! Intensive prep for first grade... 🤦
Kids already show huge differences when they start school (it's a topic that comes up all the time—whether they should already know how to read and write, or looking at the crowd of kids who took advanced language classes in preschool) Generally speaking, kids who went to daycare or preschool are much better prepared than those who didn't, especially if they had access to "enriched programs" or just a slightly higher-end facility. 🤷 You also see massive gaps throughout their entire schooling depending on extracurriculars, how involved their parents are, and, obviously, how much money they have... It's a tough situation.
By the way, if you want to prepare kids for school, teach them the basics: how to wipe themselves properly, how to tie their shoelaces, or how to pass a ball in gym class. Those simple life skills matter way more than recognizing letters on a tablet or doing advanced math early. ☕
I read somewhere that kids actually take tutoring for art classes once they hit first grade in elementary school.
