I was wondering if I might ask for some advice
Specifically, it has been quite some time since I last requested any referrals, and since we are currently in breast cancer awareness month, I felt it was high time to get things organized. I don't carry any supplemental insurance, and I am based here in NYC, near Dubrava
Does anyone happen to know what the initial cost for a referral is at a Private General Practice? Furthermore, how much would I likely need to pay out of pocket for the actual exam—and where exactly should I go for such an appointment? Thank you all so much in advance! 🙂
Morgan Hughes81, what I mean is you just need to make a payment to someone, and then they ship the items directly to your house.
It honestly doesn't matter if you don't have your own bank account. If you need to pay via PayPal or some other method, I’m fairly certain there are plenty of people on these forums who would be happy to handle the transfer for you in exchange for a small fee. I believe Girl Power is one of those folks... you might want to try reaching out to her via private message.
If you’re making a payment online or walking straight into a branch—say, Chase, for instance—it usually shows up on your account immediately. However, if you’re transferring funds from a different institution, like Bank of America, you might be looking at a delay of a day or maybe even two. As for using the post office, I really can't say for sure regarding their processing times.
Well, I see. So there's no option to inspect the item before finalizing the payment. Understood. In that case, what would be the most secure way for me to have this lamp delivered via USPS? Perhaps sending it as an insured package might be the best course of action?
I must admit, I find myself quite perplexed by all of this 🤷
I am planning to purchase a lamp from a lady online, and for my own peace of mind, I would prefer to have it delivered via COD—cash on delivery. I haven't quite calculated the weight, though I suspect it might be somewhere around 1.5kg or so. My primary concern is simply ensuring the item arrives intact; I am more than willing to pay just to have it delivered directly to my doorstep in one piece. However, I am currently grappling with a bit of a dilemma: am I permitted to open the package in front of the FedEx driver to verify its condition before I hand over the payment?
I am honestly quite unsure how these procedures typically work...
Generally speaking, you’re expected to show up in person with all your identification ready to go. I suppose if you’re dealing with a tiny local post office where everyone knows your face, maybe a family member could swing by to pick up a small parcel for you.
But at my local USPS branch? There is absolutely no way anyone else is picking anything up unless they are the actual intended recipient.
In my experience, most of my packages—especially the savory ones—tend to arrive within a day or two. As for anything sent via Priority Mail, they generally show up at my doorstep by the very next day.
If you manage to get everything shipped out before 1:00 PM, you can pretty much count on them being right at your door the following morning.
So, really, we're looking at a maximum turnaround of two days. 😉
Susan Ramirez33, I was just wondering about the tax implications on a savings account—for instance, if someone wants to wire funds directly into a savings account, they end up footing extra fees for the bank. I believe it sits somewhere between 6% and $2.75 😉, whereas checking accounts don't carry those specific charges.
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that to me. Honestly, looking at the numbers, I’ve come to the conclusion that it just doesn't make financial sense for me to go through the trouble of picking up the package myself like that.
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, if someone is sending me something exclusively via Cash on Delivery, I should be paying for the shipping costs $8.25 +$2.75 instead of just having them send it as a standard package $5.75? Did I get that right?
Well, I was actually looking to purchase something from this one girl, but she insists on only doing cash on delivery... so, I guess it's a no from me. Thanks anyway! 🙂
Oh goodness, let’s dive a little deeper into this whole Cash on Delivery situation, because I must admit, I haven't quite wrapped my head around the specifics yet...
If the total value of the items is, say, $13 well, if I've already covered the shipping costs, how much am I actually handing over to the FedEx driver when they arrive at my door? $8.25, $22 Is it just the item price,
or is there more to it?? I must say, I feel a bit completely lost in the details here...🤷
Estée Lauder and the "reformulation" PDF in Feedback & Suggestions ·
The administrators haven't just ignored this thread; they’ve gone ahead and locked it tight without providing a single substantive answer.
I asked a very straightforward question—what does the forum actually gain from this?—and the response I received was essentially that we shouldn't complain because things are simply the way they are. But why? Why is Estée Lauder being treated with such blatant discrimination?
It truly feels unjust, and so I am politely requesting that anyone who knows please share the usernames of those who hold more authority than the Estée Lauder admins and are responsible for this decision.
Now, I am certainly not one to whine or grumble habitually, but it feels wrong to let everything on this platform remain in this state.
We ought to direct our grievances toward a broader range of addresses☕ because this final response, which offers absolutely nothing of substance, simply doesn't hold water.
Linda Williams97 said:Guys... I have a little bit of a dilemma—I'm honestly not quite sure how to ship these boots. Specifically, I'm struggling with the packaging side of things. I don't happen to have a large enough box on hand, and I'm feeling a bit lost regarding the best way to proceed. Perhaps I could simply place them in a larger bag and wrap the whole thing in paper to make it look like a parcel? Does anyone have any bright ideas?

The ladies offered some solid advice regarding the bags, but you might also consider making a quick trip to a local store; they almost always have extra boxes lying around. As long as the boots fit comfortably inside, the actual dimensions shouldn't matter too much. You can just send it off as a standard package without any issues at all.😉
And if you’re worried about it being a bit delicate, I’d suggest just wrapping some extra paper all the way around it inside that envelope 😉
Arlena, if what you're sending is relatively small, you could always just pop it into one of those yellow bubble mailers from FedEx and send it via certified mail; it should only cost you $5.00
You can actually send money using mail or through money orders.
Within the US, it costs about 5-$2.25 I'm not entirely certain on the exact cents right now, but for an international money order, you're looking at roughly $10. It would be a wise idea to double-check the most current rates on the USPS website just to be safe.
The process is quite straightforward: you simply fill out the money order at the post office and pay the fee right there at the counter. The recipient then receives the funds directly at their doorstep—the mail carrier hands it over in person. If nobody happens to be home, they'll just leave a notice saying they can pick up the cash at the local branch. Honestly, the whole system works wonderfully and efficiently; even for international transfers, the money is practically at your doorstep within just a few days 😉
Actually, I don't have the confirmation handy—I completely blanked on that! It’s all gone up in smoke, 👎m.im their 😠
Elizabeth Palmer2 said:It might 😉

Let’s be realistic, everyone—don't kid yourselves.
My only observation is this: if you're at a tiny rural post office where everyone knows your business, you might get lucky. Otherwise, there is absolutely no way they will accept anything without a notarized document.

Speaking from personal experience, it just won't happen.
I actually had to go to a notary myself to handle things for my husband; once we had that official seal, we still took the paperwork down to the local USPS branch just to make sure everything was perfectly in order, ensuring I could legally pick up his mail, important documents, and other items on his behalf.
Angela Flores76 said:That extra $1.75 fee kicks in if your delivery is handled by some guy in a van rather than a standard USPS carrier. In my experience, they charge me the full $1.75 and then provide a receipt confirming I paid the $1.75. They are legally required to give you a receipt. 🙂

Oh dear, I am so glad I remembered this while reading through these comments!
To be quite honest, I always seem to get charged $1.75 by those folks driving the yellow FedEx vans; the kicker is that if they have two or three packages, they charge me the total amount for everything at once. For instance—if it's $10, $5.00 they just bill me that much for the whole lot.
We usually have the same driver, too; he’s a little fellow and quite a jolly, boisterous man.
Then, just last week, a different gentleman arrived in a yellow truck with three packages. He tells me $5.00. Since I didn't have any small change on hand, I simply gave him $6.75.
He didn't have any change to give back to me, $1.75 so he suggested we just keep a mental note and he wouldn't charge me for one of the packages next time. BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECEIPT, AND TRULY, I ALMOST NEVER GET THEM ANYWAY.

Well, as fate would have it, a little package arrived tomorrow—well, actually today—delivered by a small truck, and it was my usual friendly, stout little driver. I mentioned to him that he was still owed $1.75 from yesterday.
And his response to me was: "I'm afraid I don't know anything about that; I wasn't the one here, I only have this current charge that needs to be settled."

👎 👎 👎 It is truly dreadful; it feels like outright theft. You all have certainly reminded me of this, so I shall head down to the local Post Office tomorrow to file a formal complaint. It isn't even really about the $1.75; it's more the principle of them stealing 👎.
