wiredraven82 said:Look, I realize the title of this thread is a bit unconventional—I honestly couldn't figure out how to phrase it without being specific about what I mean—but I'm talking about those actors who play those certain types of roles, the real "bad Mother Fucker" types you absolutely wouldn't want to cross 😁

Essentially, I’m referring to actors who have effectively "bought" that persona of a hardened, gritty "bad mother fucker" through their performances, even when they're playing the good guys (which is usually when it's most effective)... For me personally, there is only one true icon in this category, and he always will be; if I think about it, he basically pioneered that whole "unorthodox cop" and "bad mother fucker" archetype, which applies to his western films as well—of course, we're talking about none other than Clint Eastwood 🙂

As for the others, my votes would go to Samuel L. Jackson (who is actually the reason I'm targeting this vibe in the poll and why it's named after him), Jason Statham, and the mustachioed Burt Reynolds 🤣—that guy with the mustache and the look, just a total rebel type 😁
Joe Pesci is also a heavy hitter here; looking at his role in Goodfellas, you definitely wouldn't want to try closing any business deals with him 🙂

Bruce Willis carries that image too, though in many cases, his portrayal feels almost overly aggressive—as if he's just leaning into the reputation—but he's still a bad mother fucker... Anyway, I hope you all get the point of this topic, and my apologies if I missed any of your favorites in the poll

P.S.: My apologies for not including Samuel L. Jackson in the options; I just realized he isn't in the poll, which is unbelievable... I guess I was so focused on his specific role regarding the thread title that I forgot to actually list him. Deepest apologies—please just mention him in the comments if he's 🙂

Just when I was about to vote for him 🤣

I also dig Steve McQueen, though I'm not sure if he fits this category 🤔
Psychological dramas: Any recommendations? in Movies ·
Karen Gonzalez71 said:There should probably be more people here who actually dig psychological dramas, just to swap thoughts on them...

I mean, I guess if there's already a thread for swapping horror movie takes, then we could pretty much have one for the best genre—dramas, right? 😁

I wonder if there are actually a ton of those birds in the movie... 😁 🤷

Can I change my handle to Jerry Ramos90? 🙂 It feels way too long, and honestly, those little dots are just getting on my nerves. 😢

Sure, you can. Just reach out to Tyndall.

Shame

I found this one part in the movie Shame pretty funny, where Brandon and his sister are waiting for the subway and she starts picking at some lint on his coat. He just looks at her and goes

Leave it! I like it there.

Then he actually takes that little bit of fuzz or whatever and sticks it right back onto her coat. 😁😁
That part honestly cracked me up. 🤷

But I guess it was intentional. 🙄
Anyway, your question is kind of a tough one. 😳
Young Adult (2011) in Movies ·

😂

The movie isn't bad, I guess. I was expecting something worse. 😬

I just don't get how old these people are supposed to be.

On one hand, she seems way too young to have already written something like 12 books, but then again, she looks a bit too old to be out drinking in the woods with some former classmate. 🤷

if you take a look at human history over the last couple thousand years, everything just keeps getting smaller and more superficial—except back in the day, slaves actually knew they were slaves, whereas today people think they’re free, even though they’re still basically just cogs in the machine.
and most of that comes down to the media and all the constant manipulation, so by the end of it, people aren't even free to have their own thoughts... they’re just thinking whatever someone else decided they should be thinking for them.
fuck a world like that.
I mean, where does a person even start if you want to change anything? Everyone is just looking out for themselves, especially the ones with all the power and the deep pockets, and honestly, there’s nothing you can do against people like that.
education is fine, I guess, assuming you’re actually teaching people how to think for themselves, but what do people actually learn in school? They just memorize stuff from textbooks and learn that whatever the teacher says is gospel, even when the professor is dead wrong.
what people really need is to become a little more aware of their own mortality and how insignificant we all are in this massive universe (not that everyone needs to go kill themselves or stop caring about everything)... but still. You’re born, you live, you die. You were here, but it's like you weren't, and nobody cares. In 10, 20, or even 100 years, nobody is even going to know you existed (unless you’re some legendary inventor or something... but even then, so what? You might trigger some tiny bit of progress for humanity, which is already less than a speck of dust compared to the scale of space, and that's just that).

I only see one way out, and that's through a solid system and some real transformational leaders.😎
these are leaders who actually appeal to morality and a sense of collective identity.
I guess they're the only ones who could actually move the masses and push for change.
they should be intellectually stimulating people, encouraging critical thinking while also demanding that people take responsibility for what they do.
trying to wake up the public through the people themselves seems impossible to me; people have never had such massive
access to information🤷

Fidel Castro might love power, but he's clearly the only leader without offshore bank accounts in Switzerland.🤷

I guess it’s on us to build a more humane system
And honestly, I don't think a setup where some people can stack up unlimited wealth while others can barely afford a meal is even remotely ethical 🤷
The more I look at it, the more I doubt this whole thing is actually working
The Psychology of the Crowd in Psychology ·
thanks Mark Campbell5, I would have never guessed about the Black Friday thing 😁

but I'm still kind of confused about what complexes you were talking about,
the ones people supposedly vent through a group setting.
like, at a Taylor Swift concert, what complex are you even treating there? or maybe Big Brother? 😁
some feeling of not belonging? shyness? 🤔
what kinds of complexes even exist? 🤔

William Nelson7 said:The mosh pit is where a person can finally let loose their deepest, most suppressed complexes and primal rage... It’s essentially a box full of explosives of varying magnitudes, just waiting for a single spark to set them off... That energy can trigger anyone... I don't know how many of you have been to a heavy rock concert, but once the crowd starts surging, it's intense... Your logic tells you to back away, but that surge of testosterone pushes you right into the thick of it to shake off all that pent-up aggression.

An individual loses their sense of self in a crowd and just follows whatever rules the group sets,
but I guess I'm not
really sure how much someone can actually express those deep-seated complexes through a crowd? 🤷 (I get the anger part though)
give me an example 😁
