Do you guys have that software installed? What are these programs even for? Can I just delete them and see what happens, or is that risky?
Is this error message I'm seeing actually dangerous??
Please help. Thanks.
I’d say those errors are tied to those Microsoft utilities you can just uninstall without a second thought; if things go sideways, you can always reinstall them from the disc that came with your PC.🙂 I don't have them because I don't use Microsoft hardware. Those little apps are just for overclocking or managing your PC's power consumption. IMHO, the error isn't indicating anything dangerous.😉

So I can hide or just get rid of specific parts of a webpage that annoy me—things like banners, ads, and whatnot. 😁 If it works in Safari, Firefox, or Chrome, why wouldn't it work in Opera? 🤷
Quick question for all you Opera users out there: is there an Adblock/Flash block extension, or something similar available? 🤔 I've already tracked down versions for Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, and honestly, it’s become my go-to browser "essential." I can barely function without it now.
@ Jonathan Morris40 Roughly speaking (since I don't have access to Vista / 7 at my office to test IE9), it looks like that "Opera-like speed dial" isn't actually doing its job: 😢 How to use the New Tab page in Internet Explorer 9
The page mentions both TurboV (for overclocking) and Asus ep (for power management). I'm sniffing out some kind of "glitch" in the BIOS; try hunting down those specific settings and resetting them back to default values. 🤔
@ Roger Ross3 The processor is 64-bit, but I agree—your friend will be perfectly fine with the 32-bit version; the Professional edition should be plenty too (differences)
Jonathan Morris40 said:Regarding IE9, at first glance, it seems to work phenomenally. But I'm dealing with one annoying situation. When looking at Windows, the Taskbar doesn't show a preview per tab, just per window. Now, when using IE, every single tab shows up as its own separate window down there. Since I always have a ton of tabs open, I end up with a massive pileup of windows. Is there a fix to group them into one window?
Actually, every extra tab in IE9 stacks right behind the main one in the Taskbar, making the IE9 icon look like a "deck of cards," doesn't it?
Tools (Alt+X), Internet Options, General, Tabs (Settings), uncheck "Show previews for individual tabs in the taskbar", then restart IE9
@ electricmarlin18 Are you seeing both of those issues when you boot Windows 7 into Safe Mode? Check out these instructions; they might actually help 😉
That’s because you have a checkmark selected under Tools, Internet Options, Advanced (Settings), Multimedia next to Show pictures; try unchecking it, hit Apply, then OK.
Now, open any website with images and you'll just see those empty placeholders. Right-click on the box where the image should be and select Show picture.🙂

Desktop gadgets (overview)
When you hover your mouse over a gadget, three little buttons will pop up. Look for the little gear icon (Options) and search for your own city instead of, say, Redmond, Washington, USA (where Microsoft is based).😉

Did you actually check Folder Options to make sure "Restore previous folder windows at logon" is checked? That might be your problem right there. 🙄
I'm not starting a new thread since this one was just opened and covers the same ground...
Drago needs a monitor for his PC setup (he's already got the tower, keyboard, and mouse); I've been scanning PriceGrabber, filtering for Microsoft models between 19" and 23", under $400 found a few options but I'm stuck on which one to pull the trigger on. Any advice?
Eric Nguyen said:I actually used Windows 7 and it was solid, but the catch was that I was running a trial version. If I'd had the full version, I would've stuck with Windows 7 instead of using Windows XP like I am now.
