Melissa Stewart6 said:The thing is, "we" don't actually have the technical tools to make that happen. Plus, a moderator really ought to be someone from outside this group to ensure they stay impartial. Why can't we just have moderators from other subforums who aren't as busy take over this one too?

I know we don't, but I was thinking we could maybe work something out informally.

We have been pleading for a moderator for months now. One has to wonder why we were permitted to let things deteriorate to this extent. As far as we are aware, there were several forum members eager to step up as moderators, yet they failed to meet the necessary criteria :jebote:

The number of high-quality contributors is dwindling, and even those remaining are beginning to show signs of frustration.

Perhaps the philosophy here requires an inquisitor, given that silence has completely taken hold.

And let us be perfectly clear: I place the blame solely on the administration for failing to act in a timely manner.

And what exactly are these criteria?

We should just pick a moderator among ourselves and call it a day.

Melissa Stewart6 said:If you were paying closer attention, you'd see that most threads eventually devolve into bickering. That’s especially true for topics that actually deal with philosophy—it's mostly due to the ideological clashes between users.

But honestly, that's kind of the whole point of a forum—and philosophy itself. I was talking about those mindless arguments that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual topic at hand.

I've been looking over the poll, and it’s pretty obvious that none of you—considering you're all just part of the "inventory"—should be in that position. Honestly, I wouldn't be up for it either.

The subforum finally got a shot at running without a moderator, and we all saw exactly how that played out—it just allowed the guy with the biggest ego to step up and act like the ultimate gatekeeper. Of course, that’s just a metaphor. Honestly, this kind of power trip would probably happen in pretty much any other subforum too.

I don't know who it would be. It’s pretty obvious that nobody would actually want that—spending 85% of their time dealing with Parsifal.

You guys seriously have a massive problem here, and honestly, I’m not even sure if it's fixable. How on earth did they handle this back in ancient Greece? 😁
Since you guys are clearly the smart ones, do some thinking. I'm just a spectator watching this from the sidelines.

I only pop into the Philosophy PDF section every once in a while, so I didn't catch all the drama surrounding the lack of a moderator. All the topics seem totally fine—no insults or anything like that. The only issue is the moderation thread itself, since it's turned into a bunch of people bickering. And I agree with hiddenpuma75—it’s smarter to break up a massive wall of text into smaller, easier-to-read posts. Just because someone drops a few posts at once doesn't mean it's a bad thing; maybe they just want to reply to a few different people. Also, yeah, I'm with hiddenpuma75 on this—I'm generally against banning users (unless they're being abusive, which I haven't seen hiddenpuma75 do). Besides, hiddenpuma75 is a solid member who started a ton of threads; without him, this Philosophy section would've gone totally dead.
I’m also calling on the moderators to lift his ban. Look, maybe the guy actually learned his lesson and changed his ways. If he hasn't? Well, it’s easy enough to reinstate the ban later. But for now—let’s give him a fair shot.

That criminal organization has been tangled up in a web of corruption from the very beginning, leading to massive scandals over the years—things like "the fifth partner," "grupo," "fimi-media," "Hypo," "Kraft Heinz," "SPICE," "kamen-ingrad," "ExxonMobil," and the list goes on and on...
Back in the early nineties, names like Ivić Pašalić, Luka Rajić, Vlado Kolak, and Miroslav Kutle seemingly appeared out of thin air, amassing sudden fortunes while being linked to multiple scandals all at once. There are plenty of others involved too, including Neven Barač, Damir Polančec, Vinko Grubišić, Ninoslav Pavić, Marko Marčinko, Petar Luburić, Juraj Hrvačić, Vinko Brnadić, Milan Lucić, Vladimir Zagorac, Miomir Žužul, and Davorin Mlakar. In the end, the only one actually convicted was the party leader—a thief and a traitor. Honestly, his name isn't even worth typing out in capital letters...
If you aren't aware of these specific scandals, all you need to do is "Google" them. There are thousands of pages dedicated to this history, including actual court reports, verdicts, and legal explanations...
For those of you who are young, you really ought to educate yourselves on these matters, and for the older generation, it might be time for a serious reminder...

Total nonsense. Should I stop voting for Plenki just because some Republican from the nineties swiped something? It makes more sense to focus on the current mess—the Istanbul scandal, the Marrakech situation, that whole prostitution stunt involving the Democratic Party and the rigged tokens, and so on.

Carol Newman2 said:What kind of actual value do Josip Đakić or Stevo Culej bring to the Republican Party?

Culej basically just slid into U.S. Congress. As for Đakić—he’s pretty much a non-entity (aside from running things over in Virovitica)—who barely scraped by with 1,500 votes in 2016 and 2,500 back in 2015. He's the head of Hvidra, so I guess that's why the Republicans think he actually matters.

On top of that, this criminal organization swindled more than $5 billion. The evidence is right there, but for now, they just aren't ready to pull it out of the files at the Department of Justice, the District Courts, or the FBI....

Look, if that's actually the case, why hasn't anyone been charged? What exactly has Zoki been doing for the last four years? Let's be real here—if I were calling the shots, I'd be handing out indictments to all those politicians (Republican Party, Democratic Party, Libertarian Party, etc.) regardless of their label.

Officers patrolling near Trnjanka encountered a group of people looking for help, but they also ran right into what sounded like a visibly intoxicated Tomislav Đakić. The moment he laid eyes on the police, he just lost it—started shouting at them and hurling profanities left and right.
“Do you even have any idea who I am?” the younger Đakić bellowed, while the officers were busy trying to de-escalate the situation. He didn't stop there, either; he started making threats, telling them, “You’re all going to lose your jobs.”
Despite being repeatedly warned to calm down and stop the verbal abuse, the young man told the officers exactly where they could shove it, using some incredibly foul language regarding their mothers. There's even a report that Đakić actually spat on one of the officers.

The quintessential Republican Party member in his natural habitat...

Is someone feeling a bit embarrassed?

And why even bother showing it? It's not like Manolić is some major figure. The focus should be on Franjo Harmon—he’s the one who will actually stick in American history books. Manolić and that whole crew? They'll just end up in the footnotes, remembered only by hardcore political history buffs here in the States. Honestly, even if I were the head of the Republican Party or had to post that photo on Twitter, I’d crop him out—both because of those nasty crimes during World War II and his comments about Franjo Harmon.

granitetinker6 said:The Republicans are in a total state of panic right now, and honestly, it’s pretty obvious they're sweating bullets over how these elections are going to shake out.

I mean, look, the campaign season is still stretching out ahead of us, and since the Republican Party is such a massive, seasoned machine, they can always try to flip the script if they play their cards right, right? But let's be real—neither Joe Biden nor the rest of the top brass have even a fraction of the swagger or the sheer, untouchable arrogance that the old guard had just two or three years ago, back when they were strutting around like peacocks thinking they were absolutely invincible.

Everyone is basically just hiding behind Joe Biden, who spends his days recycling the same two or three tired talking points until you start hearing people in random American living rooms repeating them, claiming that Joe Biden wants to hand the keys to the Democratic Party.

And man, the narratives they're pushing lately? They're getting weirder by the day.

The panicked clown is so lost he’s actually telling his own party members that they’re complete idiots for wanting to vote for someone who shouldn't even be considered a member of the party in the first place.

😁

When you have a Prime Minister and a party leader rambling about someone like Hasanbegović during such a critical moment for the party, doesn't it just go without saying that they've completely lost their way?

I caught njonja giving an interview to FOX the other day. The guy had dark circles under his eyes from sheer stress. It looks like Joe Biden is going to be a serious threat.

Charles Fox10 said:They just posted a historical fake. Given how they've been hiding their own history since Ronald Reagan passed away, it's hardly surprising.

I wouldn't say that, though. It would be a forgery if they just Photoshopped Manolić out of the shot. Instead, they just released a smaller version of the photo that puts the focus on Reagan.

Quincey:
The latest masterpiece from the Republican Party. They actually airbrushed Joža Manolić out of the official anniversary photo.

I'm pretty sure this photo is from the first anniversary of the Republican Party being founded—even some guy on Twitter mentioned it. Honestly, though, I don't see the issue. Why would they need to show the full picture? And why would they include Joe, considering all those lies he—along with George W. Bush—told about Ronald Reagan? Plus, they still left the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC logo in there😁

Yeah, I messed up a little bit.😁

Listing names right now feels a bit pointless since we don't know who will actually make it into the US Congress. Once the election night dust settles, I'll be able to give you a real list. To put it simply, anyone you’ve never even heard of before this election cycle is likely just a placeholder for the party.

Here is an example for the ninth installment:

Ivan Malenica

2. Grozdana Perić

3. Ante Sanders

4. Marijan Kustic

5. Ante Sanders 4. Marijan Kustic 5. raditi Šimičević

Nediljko Dujić 7. Luka Brčić

Nediljko Dujić 7. Luka Brčić

8. Josip Bilaver

Branka Juričev

10. Anita Pocrnić Radošević

11. Nikola Baradić

Vinko Zulim

13. Josip Begonja

14. Božidar Kalmeta

I tend to view all those blacked-out entries as potential conflicts of interest, especially since their entire livelihood depends on taxpayer funding.

Bero won't even need to go out and recruit anyone. Just at the mention of snap elections, those little political pawns will start lining up on their own. You’re definitely underestimating the Republican Party; they're really just a group of incompetent folks who would starve without a seat in US Congress. For them, holding onto a spot in Congress is quite literally a matter of survival. We also shouldn't forget that Berin’s political mentor was none other than Ubersakupljač, the master of handing out favors, and that Bero has been consistently underestimated until now. He’s actually at his most effective when he's pulling strings to place family, friends, or partners into key positions—which is exactly how the whole patronage system works.

I think your logic is a bit flawed. Just because someone is unknown doesn't mean they're a pawn, and being well-known doesn't mean they aren't. Milanka Opačić was one of the heavy hitters in the Democratic Party, and look how that turned out—she became a pawn too. I’d look at it through an ideological lens instead. Personally, I think Obuljenka would be the first pawn to jump ship. And people like her. On the flip side, it seems totally insane to me that someone from the Republican Party would switch to the Democrats to act as a pawn. That's basically career suicide given how much longer the Republicans have held power both nationally and locally. Though, ideologically, maybe it isn't impossible—like Ivana Šojat, who moved from Republican to Democrat due to her beliefs.

Jose Collins86 said:Zdravko Marić appears on the list, though word is he intends to jump ship to the Adris Group after the elections to work for Ante Vlahović—a mutual acquaintance of both Plenković and Zokijev. Vlahović is, of course, well-known for overseeing the sale of State Farm at such an incredibly favorable price during Milanović's administration, not to mention his earlier role in the privatization of TDR. It seems Zdravko is making sure he isn't holding the reins of the Treasury when the inevitable economic collapse begins this autumn.

He was certainly a "capable" minister while the rest of Europe was experiencing growth. Granted, our growth was the most sluggish in the region, and we were actually overtaken by Romania during his tenure, but hey—growth is growth, and Bulgaria is still trailing behind us. That will be Zdravko Marić's second act in the private sector. His first professional chapter was spent at the infamous, collapsed Agrokor, where he was hired by Ivica Todorić—a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to Zdravko, and someone who has long been the subject of whispers suggesting he might actually be Zdravko's biological father.

Ever since he expressed interest in moving to Adris, things have been shifting. Now, with the crisis looming, he'll probably want even more leverage—it makes you wonder who will actually end up holding that cabinet position after the elections.
