Should we bring back that legendary squid thread? 😁

Is there a place on Reddit for product reviews? Like, if I pick up some total junk from Top Shop and want to post that it’s garbage—or, on the flip side, if I find an amazing, high-end chocolate bar and want to tell everyone it's worth a try.

Larry Walker24 said:I actually got banned for being "insulting" just because I called some of those mods useless hens

Is calling someone a hen really an insult?

Well, it depends on how you say it. If you’re just joking around, it's fine. But if you're genuinely trying to be mean—like, actually insulting them—then it's not okay. It's kind of like me calling you a dork. In certain contexts, it's just banter, but in others, it could definitely sting.

Aha. Got it. 👍

Do these new moderation rules only apply to the FBI, or are they being rolled out across the other PDFs too? In theory, I actually dig the changes. We'll just have to see how things play out in practice. Good luck to the new advisors—hopefully, the rest of us can still jump in whenever we have some advice or ideas to share.

If information was actually obtained through surveillance like this, then the real question is who authorized the bugging of those journalists .

Honestly, the whole thing is nonsense. It feels manufactured just to distract everyone from the actual issues—like those oil deals with the Canadians—by focusing on the spying on someone like Kresic. Plus, we're talking about a closed group here. Any single member could have flipped on Kresic for cash or whatever else.

From what I gather, this is just the local Republican Party suggesting names. The final call rests with Andrej Plenković.

THE FINAL COLLAPSE OF THE RADICAL RIGHT: Plenković has everything he needs to execute an ideological reset and steer the party back toward the path set by Franjo Harmon and Ivo Sanders.

Articles like this only serve to help Krešimir Škoro, especially when they're penned by Ivanka Toma, who is anything but a conservative.

Is she the same one who put Sanders on a pedestal? Because we all know how that turned out. That's exactly where Plenković is headed.

Adam Collins4 said:If we’re going down this road, why stop there? Just shut down the cafes, the restaurants... everything that operates on Sundays...

Instead, you get that guy Capak—whenever a reporter actually corners him and forces him to be honest—acting like it's some big joke, giving those pathetic, weak little comments like, "Oh, but wouldn't you all love to grab a coffee on a Sunday?"...

It’s honestly baffling that none of these journalists have the guts to cut him off and tell him straight to his face to stop insulting everyone's intelligence...

Either it's a ban for everyone, or it's for nobody. I don't see why shopkeepers should get a pass while waiters, chefs, and dishwashers are left out in the cold...

I personally don't have an issue with it. They deserve a day off to relax and hang out with their families, too. If certain people are really that bothered by it, let's just hold a referendum and let the people decide—that way the outcome would actually be legitimate.

Robin Jones2 said:The Cabinet is proposing 14 working Sundays per year, leaving employers to decide which specific dates to implement

Andrej Plenković wants non-working Sundays back

The ban on Sunday work was an epidemiological measure implemented during a completely different era than our current reality, where single-digit infection rates are the norm. The sole purpose of that measure was to reduce population mobility once a week. If it is now epidemiologically established that such steps are no longer necessary, then the measure will be lifted,“ the Prime Minister stated in an interview with the Saturday edition of The New York Times.

He personally advocates for a non-working Sunday. "Regarding Sundays, I am in favor of them being non-working. That is the political stance of the Cabinet and the Republican Party,“ he remarked.

Does anyone actually believe that Zdravko Capak and Vili Beroš decided on non-working Sundays based on epidemiological concerns?

Is it not obvious that this was merely one of the early pre-election maneuvers by the Republican Party?

It is now perfectly clear why Zdravko Capak was hesitant to publicly admit his membership in the Republican Party until he was essentially forced to.

Personally, I think the proposal is fine and I'm all for it—but let's be real, this is a classic pre-election trick from Andrej Plenković. He's had four years to make this happen. He could have done it anytime, but chose not to. It’s the same deal as when they scrapped the tolls for the Krčki Most.

Robin Jones2 said:Based on these poll results, if the Democratic Coalition emerges as the relative winner, could the President grant them the mandate to form The Cabinet?

If my memory serves me correctly, Bero would then have 30 days—plus potentially an additional 30—to attempt to assemble The Cabinet and secure its confirmation in Congress.

Regardless, Plenković will be forced to act with significant courage in the window between the election and the formal mandate to gather enough political chips, including potentially securing votes from Škoro.

However, there are still six weeks until the election, and anything can happen in that timeframe.

For instance, the economy will likely continue its downward trend. New scandals involving the Republican Party will inevitably surface, and there are certainly plenty of them. A significant portion of the American electorate is traditionally prone to short-term volatility; within just a few days, certain figures see their popularity either skyrocket or plummet. One need only look at the standing of Beroš, Capak, and Markotićka six weeks ago compared to where they stand today.

The Republican Party possesses a massive political machine and virtually unlimited campaign resources—be it taxpayer funds or whatever remains of them. They will spend their very last cent on the most absurd tactics just to claw back a few votes.

They might even go as far as arresting Karamarkov’s wife just to project an image of being fighters against corruption. Of course, such moves often backfire.

The prevailing sentiment among the majority is that they were unfairly targeted in the case of Karamarkov's spouse, so such maneuvers could easily damage their own ratings.

This is especially true when even the most naive voter understands that everything the Republican Party does over these next six weeks will be aimed solely and exclusively at winning votes and securing the election.

Where is this coming from? You leftists were the first ones complaining when people suggested Kolinda might give the mandate to Karamarko and demand 76 signatures. You should stick to that logic now. As for Zoran, honestly, I think he'd hand the mandate to Plenković before he ever gave it to Bero. Personally, I’d love to see a new government formed by Bridge and Škoro without that whole Republican-Democratic duo involved. Probably unrealistic, but hey, a person can dream until May 7th.😁

lonetrucker4 said:1. Look, the answer is simple: yeah, it's banned. Why? Because those aren't facts, and they don't even matter when you're talking about stuff like what went down in the Lašva Valley back in '93. Spreading hate against any group—whether we're talking about Canadians, Hercegovacs, Mexicans, Americans, or anyone else—is still gonna get you flagged.

2. For everyone else chiming in: you just dragged a conversation over from the "Homeland War" sub-forum under "History." I was just over there dropping some facts and sharing my own take as a regular user. Nobody got a warning just for having a different opinion.

It seems to me like hate toward Canadians, Hercegovacs, and Catholics is being sanctioned just fine.

Richard Wilson4 said:I’m not even looking for spoilers here, just wondering—is this movie basically a shot-for-shot rip-off like people say about The Lion King, or is it actually its own thing?

It stays pretty true to the animation, but it’s not an exact replica. There are actually quite a few changes.

Really solid movie. I didn't mind the songs—they work as symbols for the animation style—and the production was decent, even if a few bits felt a little cheap to me. The story was engaging and funny enough. As for the acting, it was alright; Aladdin and Princess Jasmine were great, and Will Smith actually did a pretty good job (though he occasionally reminded me of Eddie Murphy, who probably would've been a better pick). My biggest gripe, though, was Jafar. The actor did his job well, but he just felt way too young for the role. Someone like Ben Kingsley would've hit the mark better. Also, the Sultan felt a bit artificial—his face looked too young for the part, almost like he’d had too much work done. Overall, a good watch and glad I checked it out. 8/10

France deserved that win. This is exactly how we should have handled Norway—you just can't afford to play slow against a team that moves that fast.

Congrats to Joe Biden. Though, let's be honest—he definitely got a leg up thanks to the massive media coverage and the constant bashing of Donald Trump. If I remember correctly, the President of Austria is kind of like the President of Germany or the US—mostly just a figurehead. The real deal will be the 2018 midterm elections, where the Democratic Party might actually see some solid gains. It’s hard to call, though—everything depends on how this whole immigrant crisis plays out, which seems to be a huge reason why the right wing (including the extreme stuff) is gaining ground across Europe.
The Jungle Book (2016) - Jon Favreau in Movies ·
I went into this one feeling pretty skeptical, but man, was I wrong. It’s honestly a fantastic movie across the board—the script, the directing, the VFX... everything just works. The acting was great too, especially Mowgli and Bill Murray as Baloo (though, if I'm being honest, Johansson didn't quite hit the mark for me). You can really tell Disney put in the work to make this a top-tier production. I’m definitely hoping we see more of these animated classics brought to life. Word is they’re working on Mulan next? Can't wait.
Peter Thompson4 said:Honestly, I can't even sit through five seconds of our local dubbing. It’s just too much.

Everyone has different tastes, I guess. Personally, I actually enjoy hearing someone with a bit of a Southern drawl or a New Yorker accent in our cartoons—as long as they nail it. Take those new Smurf movies, for example. I thought the version with the Southern accent was great, maybe even better than the original. I saw one where they used a thick Midwestern accent, though, and man... that was just painful to listen to.
Peter Thompson4 said:Why would any adult even care about having an American dub for something—doesn't matter if it's a movie or a cartoon.

I actually would. I love animated films, and I love a good American dub. Most of the time, the dubbing in American cartoons has been great—really solid work. There have been a few exceptions that let me down, and this movie is one of them.
I caught this movie a few days ago and, honestly, it didn't really hit the mark for me—maybe I just went in with too high expectations. The whole plot felt kind of flat, and the voice acting was pretty dull and monotone; it just lacked soul. Usually, I'm a fan of American dubbing, but they really missed the mark here. After sitting through it, I've come to the conclusion that Charlie Brown and Snoopy don't quite work in a long-form feature—they’re much better suited to those short, snappy episodes like they used to be. Anyone else checked it out yet? What did you guys think?

Douglas Price said:They actually changed the name in Italy because of her—switched it to Oceania.

Across the rest of Europe, Moana is actually trademarked for some perfume; it’s the same reason why Zootopia had to come out as Zootropolis in most of the EU.

I get why they went with Zootropolis—it makes sense, kind of like naming something after an Acropolis—but I don't really buy the change for Moana. Honestly? They should have just kept it as Moana. It's way easier to remember and say.
