P.S. If I decide to terminate my contract early, can I still keep the overdraft facility? If so, what are the fees involved, and is it possible to settle the balance via online banking? I haven’t tried using that feature before.
Could someone with some actual experience walk me through this? 🙏
Looking for a specialist... in Health ·
I’ve been scouring the internet, but I can't seem to find any concrete information. My mother needs to undergo a whole battery of tests, and to speed things up, I'm looking into private options.
Does anyone happen to know roughly how long the waiting lists are at NYC hospitals, and what the costs would be if we went through a private clinic for these specific tests?

1. Kidney ultrasound and renal artery Doppler
2. Echocardiogram
3. Creatinine clearance, Biuret, catecholamines in 24h urine, aldosterone/renin ratio in plasma, and cortisol levels at 8h and 17h

🤷

Any help or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

I need some advice. It seems my situation isn't unique, but I’m certainly feeling the sting in my wallet right now. 😠
Basically, my banker practically coerced me into signing up for this premium account tier—or whatever they call it—without ever mentioning it would come with a monthly fee $20.
They framed it as, "Just stop by to pick up your new debit card; there’s no charge for this." Why on earth would I opt into something I don't need? But apparently, if you're looking at credit options, everything is bundled together... I won't bore you with the details. Anyway, I just checked my balance online and saw they already docked me $20. I feel like a fool. What am I even paying for? I never carry a balance, and I have absolutely no use for these "perks." 👎
My question is simple: can I cancel this service, or am I stuck being fleeced for $20 indefinitely? 😲
Any help would be appreciated! 🙄
HPV and condom effectiveness in Women's Health ·
😁 🙂

Thanks for such a thorough breakdown. I’ve done my fair share of reading up on HPV, but I’ve also heard a lot of conflicting stories regarding actual prevention methods. I even tried reaching out on a few health forums, only to be met with a confusing mix of advice.🙄 It honestly feels like every gynecologist seems to have their own personal theory on the matter.
Regardless, I completely agree with everything mentioned above. This was incredibly helpful.

P.S. A friend of mine was actually told by her gynecologist that she doesn't even need to bother with condoms. And honestly, it's not just her; I've heard similar things from several different sources. I've encountered so many conflicting opinions lately that I'm starting to lose track of who's actually right.

Technically, whether someone is in a monogamous relationship or being unfaithful shouldn't change the fact that they have HPV. What I'm struggling to wrap my head around is this: if the whole point of using condoms is to push HPV into a dormant state—since there isn't a cure anyway—does that mean you have to keep protecting yourself indefinitely? Even once it hits that dormant phase, what happens if your immune system takes a hit down the road and it resurfaces? Do you just go back to waiting it out all over again? And how does one even begin to navigate pregnancy planning in all of this?

Do you still use condoms if you have dormant HPV and have been in a monogamous relationship for years?
A friend is trying to convince me that her gynecologist told her condoms aren't even reliable for preventing viral transmission anyway—she doesn't bother using them with her partner. Meanwhile, my doctor insists we should still be taking precautions. I've been playing it safe with protection for about a year and a half since my diagnosis.
I couldn't quite find my way into that massive megathread on this subject, so I figured I'd just ask here for some personal experiences.

Thread deleted?! in Forum Help! ·
Hello,
Is there a way to delete a thread I started myself, or is that not an option?
If it is possible, how would one go about doing that?

You could also set it up to receive email alerts whenever someone replied to one of your threads. 🙂 As for vBulletin, I can't say for certain. 😁 Not much help from me, despite my supposed status as a moderator. 🤣

haha, absolutely zero help from you at all 😂

Stupid question, but is there a way to get an email notification whenever someone replies to my post? If so, where do I find that setting?

What's your prescription? in Health ·
P.S. I think I’ve got a pretty solid handle on my prescription status.
What's your prescription? in Health ·
This is a great topic because I’ve been struggling with the discrepancy between my contact lens and glasses prescriptions. I’m curious whether the prescription for glasses should typically be higher than for contacts. I called an eye clinic today, and the technician mentioned the glasses prescription should be stronger, though she sounded a little hesitant when explaining it.
Here is the situation: I’ve used a combination of contacts and glasses for years. A couple of years ago, my ophthalmologist told me my glasses prescription should actually be slightly lower than my contact lens prescription. However, I realized that my glasses prescription was significantly weaker than my contacts—I couldn't see clearly at a distance, which made driving impossible. My glasses were basically just something to wear around the house, while I relied exclusively on contacts whenever I went out.
A few days ago, I decided it was finally time to get new glasses. There is no point in wearing frames if you can't actually see through them, and since I recently dealt with a nasty case of conjunctivitis, I realized that having good glasses as a backup is essential.
My current glasses prescription is -6.25 in both eyes (including astigmatism). The confusing part is that according to my last contact lens exam, my prescription was -5.75 and -5.5. It’s all a bit muddled since I had my contacts fitted at one clinic and my glasses checked at another. With my contacts, my vision is excellent—everything is sharp even at a distance. It's clear now why my old glasses weren't working, but the numbers feel off, especially since I was previously told my glasses prescription should be lower than my contacts, yet this second opinion suggests the opposite.

Apologies for the long post. If anyone else uses a combination of contacts and glasses, could you clarify a few things? Is there a standard difference in prescription? Does astigmatism affect how much higher the glasses prescription might be compared to contacts? And in your experience, which one ends up being the stronger number?
Thanks.😬
Medical staff being rude/arrogant in Health ·
Hello there.
I’m writing this as an experienced nurse, and I want to offer an apology on behalf of my more professional and decent colleagues.
While I haven't been in the field for decades, I can say I've never encountered a situation quite like this one.😕 If I were in your shoes, I would absolutely take this straight to the Head Nurse; frankly, that level of communication is completely unacceptable.
P.S. If anyone on our unit spoke to a colleague like that—assuming anyone even thought it was an option—they’d be fired on the spot. Legally speaking, they would.😉
Tips for quitting smoking! in Health ·
When I read about individuals with such strong character who have successfully quit smoking, it honestly makes me want to toss my cigarettes today. I always find myself telling people I’m not even much of a smoker because a single pack can last me several days—four days max—though sometimes I'll burn through that same pack in a single night, depending on how things go. There are stretches where I don't even light up for three days straight, only to end up lighting one again during some pointless coffee break...
In any case, maybe I'll join the non-smokers club eventually. To everyone else out there holding steady: my advice is to just keep at it. You absolutely can do this!👋
