Thanks... I’m going to step away for a bit to clear my head and tackle some literature coursework over on Adobe Reader...

Megan Alvarez3 said:Honestly, he should have played it bold and gone with Paul di Resta. Instead, we had those three jokers just dragging themselves through another lap... I really hope tomorrow is a clear day so they can breeze past everyone like they're driving a Marussia.😁

Why though? It isn't like everyone else in the top ten was on slicks, right? I certainly wouldn't say so...
Paul really should have stayed on track and kept driving... 🙂 🙂
Man, Schott... Jim Clark is probably turning in his grave right now.

It feels like he might just end up landing a seat at Force India😲

Nice. 😁

I’m starting to wonder if Goodyear even knows how to manufacture decent tires at all. They're acting like total amateurs!!

🤦
Drew Bennett68 said:Maybe they’ll end up checking those tread patterns—if that even happens—or perhaps the tires are just being pushed way past their limit once the cars are fueled to the brim. Honestly, call it a disaster however you want to look at it, but it's a mess.

This is absolutely wild... 😂😂😂😂

🤦
Roger Wright94 said:Just adding my two cents so this isn't just a one-way conversation.

First off, McLaren’s winning streak is finally coming to an end. Not that I'm rooting against them, but right now, their dominance doesn't move the needle for me.
Second, we’re looking at those supersoft tires again, which I personally can't stand.
Third, the low downforce setup should, fingers crossed, act as a bit of a handicap for Red Bull.
Fourth, a Safety Car feels highly probable, which always adds that necessary element of chaos.
Fifth, overtaking looks like it'll be easy here, making for some great TV.
Sixth, the track surface lacks grip, which is a shame since it won't help wear down the Mercedes tires. Plus, there aren't many long corners to work with.

Between those factors—both helping and hindering—I'm anticipating a fierce, cutthroat battle, another aggressive showing from Fernando Alonso, and a win for Ferrari.

And let's not forget the rain. We're looking at heavy rain, likely on Saturday or Sunday.
stormybadger8 said:Exactly. And he could actually be a threat since the only cars slower than his in the speed trap were Maldonado's and Bottas's... everyone else was faster by 5 to 6.2 miles/h...

That puts Red Bull in a real tight spot on those medium tires. Fantastic!

Hmm, since you're a woman, I assume you find it sweet—meaning, you actually like it? 🤣

It’s a massive, heartbreaking loss... That German guy certainly has some luck on his side, especially since he's clearly the golden boy in Helmut Marko's eyes. 🤦
Brian Campbell36 said:The sheer dominance displayed by the largest presence on the grid is something that truly defies description 🙏

Driven by an almost desperate desire to secure a spot on the podium, Sebastian Vettel committed an amateurish error similar to his performance in qualifying, effectively handing Lewis Hamilton a place on the podium 🙂

Following the fallout of Multi 21, Mark Webber seems to have lost his confidence, a situation further exacerbated by some rather amateurish assessments coming from the energy drink camp

☕ I found Felipe Massa quite disappointing; I expected much more from him, but it appears he simply lacks the pace of a true world champion. Much like Mark Webber in Adrian Newey's car, it seems he will never reach that pinnacle

👋 One waits with bated breath for the GP Bahrain, eager to see if the maestro can utterly demolish Newey's car and the rest of the grid

The biggest? Who? You're talking about Fernando, aren't you?

Ashley Ramirez4 said:It would’ve been wild if Sebastian Vettel had actually grabbed that wheel—or maybe if he’d just spun out trying to dodge it. It was basically one step away from Red Bull completely blowing their entire weekend, but instead, they just totally screwed Mark Webber

and btw, I don't think anyone's gonna bother playing tire games in Q3 anymore. It’s just not worth the risk. Strategy only works if you get lucky and don't end up stuck behind some guy in the Final or a Sauber—which is insanely hard to pass even in the DRS zone, just look at how Vettel and Felipe Massa got stuck during this race. Maybe McLaren will still try it, but probably only on tracks where they can pull off a one-stop strategy

and for sure, Ferrari and Lotus are getting the most out of these tires (though Lotus is struggling with straight-line speed—just look at how much that little guy got stuck in traffic)

Who’s the slow driver? Romain?

P.S. Is there any chance Ferrari gets a little extra help from Pirelli?
When is that Bahrain !!!!?? thread coming back?
Is that whole thing already dead in the water? 🤦

Bring back the old threads, please...

On the left, it's a pushrod. When the wheel hits a bump and moves upward, the rod pushes (push) the damper assembly.
On the right, it's also a pushrod. But when that wheel moves up, the rod actually pulls (pull) the damper assembly.

I don't think it gets any simpler than that. 😁

And the front suspension doesn't "attach" to the cockpit itself, but rather to the monocoque. The cockpit is just a part of the monocoque—basically, the opening where the driver sits.

Was Ferrari caught stealing another team's blueprints?
Was Ferrari caught blatantly cheating?

And as for them celebrating or profiting from someone else's misfortune? Honestly, isn't that the case with every other team on the grid?

No. But look, engineers work on the car, and sometimes... how should I put this? They know what they want to achieve, but they don't always fully grasp the mechanics of how to get there. And knowing what you want isn't enough. You have to actually win.

steelmaker83 said:In principle, sure. But obviously, every single option comes with its own set of consequences.

Oh, sure. Because they failed to build the fastest car on the grid, yet somehow managed to be the only legitimate threat out there, they’re clearly just opportunists. Right. Naturally.

What happens once they finally build the fastest car on the planet? It’s an inevitable downward spiral. Once that milestone is hit, the novelty evaporates instantly. We'll see a desperate scramble for incremental gains—aerodynamics, tire compounds, fuel mixtures—just to shave off another tenth of a second. It becomes a redundant cycle of engineering overkill. Eventually, the tech outpaces the infrastructure, leaving us with machines that are essentially useless on any actual road. It’s just more expensive noise.

Once they have the fastest car, they'll be the undisputed champions (like Fernando Alonso). It's as simple as that. Everything else right now is just waiting for someone else to slip up.

God, are we seriously gonna have to listen to his "expert" takes during Friday practice again? —if so, I might just go get my eardrums surgically removed right now.

😂😂

Just when I thought they wouldn't hand out any penalties for this, today actually happened... a little bit of a crackdown...🤣

It's like watching a classic courtroom drama... 🙏🙏 ...and honestly, we want more! 😁

If you scroll down, there's a simple visual explanation right there.

Hmm... so it really just comes down to the suspension setup—where the linkage attaches to either the top or the bottom of the cockpit? That seems to be the whole story.

steelmaker83 said:Fine, then he was uncompetitive.

And I don't follow your logic about Ferrari having a "wait for the neighbor to fail" tactic. They clearly didn't build the fastest car; Red Bull obviously figured that out in the second half of the season.

Ferrari isn't some opportunistic outfit waiting around a corner for results to happen. You aren't always going to be the fastest, but that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't win; you just use whatever tactical edge you have available.

It’s not like Ferrari doesn't want to build a car that's faster than the rest of the field.

Personally, I think Ferrari has turned into a purely opportunistic team over the last few years. It's a sad reality! 🤦

Spot on! 🤦
