Kimberly Cruz said:Hamilton’s take after qualifying: "I'm happy for Pastor; he's done a lot this season and his talent is obvious. But I really don't want to run into him on Sunday, and I hope he stays clear of me too. As long as the start goes smoothly, we'll be fine. I'm sure Maldonado knows there are title contenders circling him, so hopefully, he won't just dive into everything at once." 🤣

Honestly, everyone up front tomorrow is probably just praying they make it through Turn 1 without a scratch... 😬

Personally, I expect the start to feel a lot like what we saw at Monaco earlier this year. Honestly, I think that penalty handed to Romain Grosjean was a bit much. It won't take much for his adrenaline to kick in and send things sideways. And don't even get me started on Pastor. We might even see some wildcards causing chaos in the mix—maybe someone like Vitaly Petrov or Kamui Kobayashi?

Man, it is absolutely pouring here in the Midwest. It feels just like that downpour that managed to skirt right around the track back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

There's no such thing as a bad start if it's under the SC. Let's go, guys!!🙂

The rain is starting to pick up, and it’s looking pretty serious now.

Check out the hourly weather forecast for the area around Indianapolis.

Whether we're dealing with rain or bone-dry asphalt, the potential for chaos during that opening lap is massive.

Romain & Lewis—definitely the highlight of the day.
The Williams lineup looks quite interesting when you factor in Felipe joining the mix.
The contents of that Toro Rosso 3rd sandwich. 😁 You know, there’s a real chance the duo over at Caterham could find a way to sneak their way into the mix.

They’re running a wet setup today. Even Mark Webber was struggling, so I wouldn't be surprised if F1 drivers are feeling it too.

Jason Campbell70 said:If this prediction actually holds up, we’re looking at either half the race being run under a Safety Car or a full red flag situation.

The drainage at this track is a complete mess. It looks like they might be working on laying down some new layers of asphalt, but with that light drizzle during FP2, we ended up with standing puddles all over the place—and in one spot, water was actually streaming right across the racing line.

With the heavy rain forecast, I’m bracing for a repeat of the 2006 US Grand Prix. Honestly, if this downpour hits harder than it did back then, we might see even worse conditions given how poor the drainage on this track is.🙂

Everything will work out in the end! 🙂 + 🙂

It looks like we’re in for a total washout this Sunday! A complete deluge is coming our way.

😁

Anything could happen!
I wonder who’s going to take the gamble during Saturday's qualifying—sacrificing their qualifying position just to nail a setup that works for a rainy Sunday?
Will it be Mercedes? Ferrari? Or maybe Caterham? 😁

I have a strong feeling Sauber might pull that move. Or perhaps even Haas will beat them to it!
Raymond Anderson4 said:The Sauber car is actually quite impressive, but I just don't think Perez and Kamui Kobayashi possess the level of talent needed to steer a machine like that into a win.
It’s a bit like the arguments people make regarding Lotus...

@Clark: I get the feeling the McLaren drivers aren't looking for any trouble with the weather. 😁

That said, my money is on Seb for this weekend.

The Sauber car looked incredibly fast at the Hockenheimring (unless Force India was just having a terrible run of luck!?). Personally, I believe Kamui Kobayashi has what it takes to grab a victory (likely before Sergio Perez does in that Sauber), though we shouldn't overestimate just how elite the Sauber car really is. 😢
Tyler Bennett5 As I was saying:
It’s pretty obvious that Pastor Maldonado was driving like he was afraid to crack an egg.
He was braking way too early. Everyone was passing him without any trouble, it just wasn't happening for him every single time.
He gave me a quick nod as he passed by.
It might be that one over in Canada. Good old days. Pastor Maldonado.

It looks like one of the drivers—though I wonder who else might be caught up in this mess—has managed to cause a collision. 🙂

ruggedfox28 said:We can only hope that Ferrari and Red Bull have dialed in their wet weather setups just enough to leave them struggling once the track dries out tomorrow. 😬

🙂

There’s always that lingering hope for a clean start—that moment when things finally click and we all find our footing together. 😬

Spot on. We haven't seen a massive pileup right at the green flag in quite a while. This track is relatively narrow, and those tricky opening corners are practically begging for someone to make a mistake and trigger a collision.
Nico Hulkenberg, Michael Schumacher, and Sebastian Vettel might prefer to play it safe—especially if we assume Fernando Alonso is going to make things interesting right at the lights—but they’ve got Pastor Maldonado breathing down their necks. Even with all that mutual respect you'd expect between the Germans, that Venezuelan driver is the wild card who could absolutely blow this whole thing wide open, whether it happens during the opening lap or later in the race.

With all those penalties hanging over them, you really have to watch Sergio Pérez, Nico Rosberg, and Romain Grosjean. They’re exactly the kind of drivers who are going to trigger a massive collision right at the start—probably in those first few turns before the first lap is even over. It's because they're desperate to charge through the field and reclaim their rightful spots as quickly as possible.

The potential matchups for the collisions look quite promising.

Raymond Anderson4 said:I’m actually crossing my fingers for some rain; I placed a bet at the sportsbook that Sebastian Vettel would take the win. ☕
And I’ll bet my bottom dollar we see Perez land a spot on the podium.

The stakes weren't particularly high, but the payoff was certainly worth the effort.😁.

At the end of the day, money talks—even if the race drags on until 6:00 PM.

I’m rooting for us both to hit the jackpot with our bets. Personally, I've got my eyes on Lewis Hamilton, the Pastor, Sergio Perez, and the wild card Eric Vergne. In my book, those are the prime candidates for a collision right at the starting line. If any of them drop out early, it opens up some massive payout opportunities, especially if we step up the stakes.

They can make all the waves they want, but I wouldn’t mind sitting through that long wait for the start of Qualifying 2, stuck in the stands with rain hitting my backside. Even if we are at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Not happening. They don't have the floodlights like they do in Singapore. They’ll probably just buzz around behind the SC for a bit and then call the whole thing off, because apparently, these guys don't know how to actually drive in conditions like this.

P.S. S. Pirelli is likely to blame for everything. 😁
P.S. Uncle S. Brunin is probably turning in his grave seeing how his nephew can't even nail a qualifying lap in Q2—back when he used to absolutely crush those same conditions by a full second.

Was the rain in the 80s just not as heavy as what we're seeing today? 😁
Or were the cars more reliable back then, allowing them to actually push through a monsoon? 😁

Or are today's F1 drivers just lacking the guts? 🤦
