SpaceX catching the Starship tower? in Random / Off-topic ·
Watching that 13th flight was insane, and now they actually want to try catching the booster with the tower. It sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie, but if they pull it off, it changes everything for rapid reuse. Do you guys think this is actually feasible or just a massive gamble?
Metformin experiences and side effects in Health ·
Isn't that basically just insulin resistance? At least, that's how I processed it after falling down a rabbit hole of medical articles online. And most of the time, they mention using metformin for it. I also read somewhere that you're supposed to take it right during a meal—specifically the one where you're hitting the carbs hardest.
Look, you really need to try and stabilize those blood sugar spikes through your diet first. Honestly, all the medication in the world won't do squat if you aren't watching what you put on your plate. I don't know if you've run into terms like glycemic index or glycemic load yet, but you should definitely look into them. Try cleaning up your eating habits by sticking to foods with a low or maybe even moderate glycemic index. For me, that means ditching the white bread and pasta for 100% whole grain stuff. No white flour, no added sugar, and cut back on the fresh dairy products that are loaded with whey. Stick to meat, fish, tons of veggies—especially leafy greens and legumes—and just stay away from potatoes and heavy salads.

John Barnes55 said:I actually came on here to ask because I'm pretty confused myself. I was prescribed the pills because my hyperinsulinemia is acting up big time, and honestly, I didn't even get a chance to say anything about high blood sugar—maybe the doctor just saw it on some lab results or something, I guess, who knows. The prescription note mentioned not taking the tablets if blood sugar is already high. Did you guys happen to read my earlier comments?

Look, I've gone through all the comments, but honestly, the whole situation still makes zero sense to me.😢
If you're dealing with diabetes, shouldn't your primary care physician have that under control? You're supposed to be managing it strictly with diet first and foremost, and then meds, right?
It is legitimately insane that people are out here just guessing whether or not someone should be taking metformin. By the way, what dose did they give you? My aunt takes it for her high blood sugar; I don't know the exact amount, but she takes it three times a day. As for me, my blood sugar was actually normal, but metformin helped me out because I had some mild insulin resistance. I was taking 500mg twice a day.

I honestly don't get what the confusion is here... I mean, if you've got diabetes, you're on metformin specifically because of that! So, what was the deal with seeing an internist in the first place?
ironstag48 said:Good day, everyone. I’m 15 years old and haven't started my period yet. However, yesterday when I went to the bathroom, I noticed a small pink spot on my underwear. When I wiped after urinating, there was also some light red discharge—this happened twice, about an hour apart. I’ve been searching online, but most sites suggest this happens during pregnancy, which obviously isn't possible for me since I haven't had sexual intercourse. I'm feeling quite anxious about it! Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could this be some kind of infection?

Honestly, you’re probably just about to get your first period, and this is just your body giving you a heads-up. 😉 Just grab a pad and keep one handy so you don't get caught off guard.
Bradley Thomas8 said:What could pink discharge be a sign of? 😢

Maybe your period is coming? Or maybe you're just ovulating?
Angela Morgan4 said:I need some advice here.
My periods used to be completely irregular, even though my hormone levels were supposedly perfect. To fix this, my gynecologist put me on hormone replacement therapy, which finally stabilized my cycles.
Later on, she switched me over to birth control—specifically Diane. Once I stopped taking them, my hormones went haywire again. I’ve experienced a significant increase in body hair, which has been incredibly depressing for me.😢 I have now transitioned to a different doctor who is planning to prescribe a different type of contraceptive.
Is it actually possible for the hair growth to decrease if I switch to a different brand of birth control?😢

Oh my god, what a disaster with those Diane pills... 😢 Are you absolutely sure your hormones were actually perfect before all this? I ended up taking Diane for the hair issues, and later transitioned to Yasmin.
Anyone tried Aknichthol lotion? in Health ·
I’m pretty sure that Neutrogena lotion was still sitting on the shelves at CVS back when I was still stuck in high school. We're talking like ten years ago, easy. :-D
Pelvic ultrasound/ovarian scan questions... in Women's Health ·
Kyle Castillo90 said:Hey everyone! I'm 18 and I have a question... During an ovarian ultrasound, can they tell if we've had sex or not? I'm really not ready for an exam yet, so it would mean a lot to me if it wouldn't show that I'm not a virgin. Thanks to anyone who can understand where I'm coming from!

Honestly, a doctor can tell just by looking at you externally. You don't even need an ultrasound for that... Do you even know what the hymen is? It’s just this thin piece of tissue at the vaginal opening (kind of like a rim). If a girl has "a lot" of it—meaning the opening is pretty tight—then any stretching or tearing is usually visible. And yeah, that first time can be more painful and involve some bleeding and all that. But for some girls, that membrane is "smaller," meaning the opening is wider, so if things are elastic enough, nothing even happens. Some girls aren't even born with much of one. You should really look into the basics of this stuff (especially regarding STIs, birth control, etc.) so you actually know what's going on.

Besides, why on earth are you worrying about what the doctor thinks? Their whole job is to maintain privacy, and whether or not you've been active is absolutely none of their business and certainly isn't being shared with anyone else...

Vaginal air release (queefing) – is this normal? in Women's Health ·
Look, physics doesn't take a day off just because things are getting heated in the bedroom. It’s everywhere, man. 😉
placidviper12 said:So, something stupid happened. I completely missed my window this month. My last pill was on Friday, and I usually get my period sometime between Sunday and Monday. But here we are—I’m supposed to be starting a new pack tomorrow and still nothing. 😕 😕 😕

If you haven't gotten it today, you seriously need to call your doctor and figure out what's going on.
Jamie Barnes60 said:My primary care doctor is seriously the best. Honestly, thank god 😁

We spent about twenty minutes just geeking out over pills and side effects—you know how it is. And she didn't give me even a shred of grief regarding my insurance referral either.

Oh, obviously! Any GP in the States can write you a referral for blood work or anything else involving your blood counts. I don't know what people are talking about—there are clearly some incompetent doctors out there if they refuse to give you a referral for basic stuff... Luckily, mine is awesome too! 😉
Kate James21 said:I find myself wondering... if a woman begins her first month on oral contraceptives... let’s take Yasmin as our example. How much time actually needs to pass before potential side effects begin to surface? Things like weight gain, breast tenderness, or other physiological shifts...

So what you're really saying is you want her boobs to grow, huh? 😉

Look, regarding that, if they’re going to grow at all, she’ll probably notice it within that very first month. And honestly, she could feel other symptoms almost immediately during those first four weeks—stuff like bloating, headaches, nausea, feeling swollen, and all that jazz.

Robert Cook said:Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this, and I can't seem to open that thread above. Anyway, I'm done with my break from Yasmin and need to get back on the pill. (It was a month-long break, and I didn't get my period). I'm wondering how long it took you guys to stop using condoms? Was it two days, a week? Just asking for info, because I honestly can't deal with condoms anymore—they've become totally revolting to me...

Wait, why on earth did you take a whole month off? That makes zero sense. 🤷 You might have actually gotten your period if you’d waited longer. Plus, you really should wait until your period starts before jumping back on. If you start on the very first day of your cycle, you're good to go from day one. Though, most doctors will tell you to play it safe and use a condom for that first week just in case.

I don't know about you guys, but I am absolutely losing my mind today. Seriously, someone needs to come grab me before I start yelling at inanimate objects. It’s just one of those days where everything feels like a personal affront from the universe. You ever wake up feeling like you’re already ten steps behind, and then the coffee machine decides it’s done being a functional part of society? That was my morning. Just standing there, staring at a puddle of lukewarm sludge, wondering if this is actually my life now. And don't even get me started on the traffic on the I-95 this afternoon. Absolute madness. I was stuck behind this guy in a massive lifted truck—you know the type, probably thinks he owns the entire interstate because he spent three grand on chrome rims—and he’s just hovering in the left lane, doing fifty miles an hour. Fifty! In the fast lane! I was sitting there gripping the steering wheel so hard I thought I might actually snap the plastic. I wanted to lean out the window and give him a piece of my mind, but I figured I’d save the energy for my inevitable meltdown later tonight. It’s just constant, isn't it? Little inconveniences piling up until you feel like you're drowning in them. I tried to go to that new bistro downtown—the one everyone's been raving about—only to find out they don't take reservations and the wait was two hours. Two hours! I could have cooked a five-course meal in my own kitchen in the time it takes to sit on a bench outside waiting for a table. I ended up grabbing a greasy burger from a drive-thru, which honestly felt like a defeat. A total, crushing defeat. Anyway, I'm rambling. I just needed to vent to someone who wouldn't look at me like I've lost my marbles. Or maybe I have. Honestly, at this point, it's hard to tell. How’s everyone else holding up? Please tell me your day hasn't been a complete dumpster fire, because I really need some good news to balance out this chaos. kaže:
Ugh, I’m back at it again, sipping on this Yasmin and honestly? My stomach is absolutely killing me. Like, seriously, it hurts so bad right now.
I’m just saying... man, good grief... at the end of the day, you've gotta let some things die. You've gotta let go or it'll take you with it. So, cheers to that! Live it up!😁

Me too! Cheers! 🙂

Jeremy Mendoza said:So, which gynecologist in NYC would you recommend? I’m looking for someone good, even if they’re private practice, who can actually figure out my specific hormone levels and bloodwork and then prescribe the exact pills that work for my body??

Look, nobody can give you a guarantee on that. 😉 What I mean is, if your labs show you have, say, excess testosterone or something similar, they’ll likely put you on something like Diane-35 or Yasmin. But honestly? No doctor on earth can predict exactly how your unique system is going to react to a specific brand of pill. It’s all trial and error.
What is Kolpitis? in Women's Health ·
Sandra Martin72 said:Look, she literally wrote that all her tests came back negative, implying that if she actually had yeast, it would have shown up on the swabs.

Whatever, honestly. If her OBGYN keeps handing her those vaginal suppositories, then she clearly has a yeast infection. I mean, come on—why would a doctor bother prescribing them if everything was perfectly fine and the tests were clean? It doesn't make sense. At any rate, if she’s sitting there thinking her discharge isn't normal—like if there's a weird smell or a funky color—she really needs to take that seriously. If everything were totally normal, her doctor wouldn't be giving her meds every single time she walks through the door.

of over-the-counter suppositories have done a damn thing. The discharge just won't quit, and nothing works. Every single time I show up at my
OB-GYN, all she does is hand me more of those little inserts. My lab results come back totally clear, so I don't even
know what the actual problem is anymore.
I am seriously losing my mind here... how am I supposed to fix this myself?..... 😢😢

You really ought to get some bloodwork done to rule out diabetes, especially if you're constantly fighting off yeast infections.
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
frozenotter14 said:Hey ladies, quick question?

So, I’ve been on Yasmin for about a year now, but for the last two months, my period has been acting super weird. It’s not even a normal color—it's more like this brownish stuff, and there's barely any of it. Plus, it only lasts maybe three days max.
I have no clue if it’s because of the birth control, but honestly, the color is freaking me out. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Hey there.

That's basically my life every single month. I've only been on them for 4 months.

So, here is the situation. I was on Triquilar for about two years, then switched to Cilest for another two, and most recently, I have been taking Logest for a year. My gynecologist actually suggested I take a break, but my real issue is this... while I was on Triquilar and Cilest, I struggled with constant nausea, which is why I made the jump to Logest. However, Logest has absolutely crushed my libido. Now, I am considering starting something else—a fourth option, really—specifically looking for one where it is proven not to kill your sex drive... though I am hoping that after a little break, things might return to normal. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Look, nobody can give you a "guaranteed" answer. You might switch to a different brand and find your libido coming back, but then you'll probably end up dealing with a whole new set of side effects. 🤷 Everyone's body reacts differently. For example, when I was on Yasmin, I ended up with a ton of cellulite, whereas someone else might lose weight instead. ☕
