Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
Lisa Adams5 said:Quoting myself. lol 😁

Does nobody actually know the link between smoking and birth control pills??

Look, I don't know the exact science behind how they interact, but generally speaking, doctors tell women over 35 who smoke that they shouldn't be on the pill—or at the very least, they need to cut back on the cigarettes way down to almost nothing.

I was expecting my period to show up any day now, but instead, I've got this dark brown—basically almost black—discharge that’s super thick. And honestly? It hurts. Like, whenever I touch anything down there, it's painful. I don't even know how to describe the sensation... it just feels dry, and then there's this tightening feeling, I don't know...
About two months ago, I had an ultrasound, and the report mentioned that my ovaries look similar to polycystic ones. What does that actually mean? And could that be connected to this weird discharge?

For me, that kind of discharge always happens during the first and second day. Honestly, it's nothing weird. But if you're feeling that pain and tightness, you might be dealing with some kind of irritation. Who knows what caused it—maybe it's your underwear, your pads, stuff like that. Or maybe you've got a case of Candida. You really ought to call your gynecologist and ask them what the move is. As for those "polycystic-looking" ovaries—go check out here and here. If they look like that, it could mean a whole bunch of different things. Basically, it sounds like you're just experiencing SOME of the symptoms listed for PCOS.

Austin Brown7 said:Look, I’m currently using clindamycin. I cleanse my face with it daily, apply some Bioderma sebum cream at night, and top it off with baby powder. Nothing. Zero results. I guess I'll just have to put in the work. Maybe I’ll give that Skinoren cream a shot; apparently, everyone is raving about it.🙂

Seriously, give it a go—it was a total lifesaver for me. I remember being over at a friend's place once, and she applied it before bed, and let me tell you, by the next morning, her redness had practically vanished and the swelling was way down. I saw firsthand how much of a difference it made! 👍 Just try it and see for yourself.

Austin Brown7 said:I know, I know. I just wanted to vent because my face is basically in a coma right now. I’m genuinely embarrassed to even step outside...😢 I've never felt this way before...

Look, just stick it out for two or three cycles and you’ll see things start to turn around. Honestly, whenever my face is a total disaster zone, I just douse myself in Nivea Baby powder and let it sit for a few hours. It actually helps a little bit. But for me, the real lifesavers were a lotion mixed with Clindamycin—you can get them to whip that up for you at any local pharmacy, or if you have a doctor write you a prescription, you might even snag it for free through insurance—and some Skinoren cream. I was super disciplined about it; I’d cleanse with that lotion every single morning and night, then slather on the Skinoren at bedtime (that stuff costs about $30 at the drugstore), and man, it totally saved me! You could see a massive difference in just a month.

thanks.

Seriously, why are you doing this to yourself? You're going to end up with a ban and won't be able to post on the forum anymore. If anyone actually cares, they'll find your thread on their own without you begging.🙄

Morgan Torres said:Honestly, there is nothing quite like that feeling when my boobs suddenly perk up and look absolutely incredible—it’s like, "Oh my god, okay, now we're talking!" But then, I have to remind myself that they were actually pretty damn good when they were just sitting there normally, too. It's a total mood, really. 🙄🙂

😂 Oh, for crying out loud, yes! Exactly! And then he starts with that whole "comforting" routine—or honestly, more like he's just trying to soothe his own conscience—and I just can't even deal with it. It’s so patronizing! 😁Man, am I not loving this? Is it just me, or are watermelons actually massive this year? Like, they’re absolute units. I went to the local Kroger this morning, and I swear, I felt like I was picking out bowling balls instead of fruit. They are absolutely huge! 😂 Sometimes, you just lose it!

Honestly, if you’re feeling this wiped out, it’s probably because your diet is absolute garbage. I mean, let’s be real—you’re also working a pretty grueling job, which doesn't help. You might just be running on empty, so don't go pushing yourself too hard before you figure this out!

Try loading up on more beans, fresh veggies, some hearty vegetable soups, fruit, or lean meats. Seriously, just give it a shot and see if you notice a difference. 😉

Oh, absolutely, you 100% need to mention it. Seriously. My ex-boyfriend—who was a doctor, by the way, so you'd think he'd get it—actually told me everything would just "balance itself out" even though I'd been dealing with heavy periods for like four or five years straight. He didn't take it half as seriously as he should have. Don't let them brush you off!😢

Amy Young12 said:So, I did my homework in school and spent way too much time falling down internet rabbit holes, and apparently, the whole consensus is that for the first couple of years after you get your period, things are just supposed to be irregular. You know, the "give it time" excuse. But honestly? Tell that to my body! Even after five years, my cycle is still acting like a total stranger, sometimes stretching out to a whopping 55 days. It’s beyond frustrating when what you read online doesn't actually match the chaos happening in real life. 😕

Honestly, people have been feeding me that same old line about things "getting better" for years now, and let me tell you—it’s a total load of crap. It never actually improves. They promise you the world, tell you everything is under control, and then you're just left sitting there waiting for a change that never comes. It’s infuriating! Seriously, don't just sit around taking their word for it. If I were you, I wouldn't wait around for some miracle; I'd go get an ultrasound right away just to see what's actually going on. Better safe than sorry, right?

I swear, because they focus on her so much, the big one just keeps growing while the little one is practically shrinking away! 😂 Poor thing...
Asymmetrical breasts in Women's Health ·
I don't even know where to start with this one. Honestly, I’m sitting here staring at my screen just absolutely fuming because some people clearly have zero common sense when it comes to how things work around here. It’s like we’re living in a different reality sometimes! Anyway, I was talking to Sandra Martin72 about this the other day—and she totally gets what I mean, bless her—and we were both just laughing at how ridiculous the whole situation has become. It's one thing to have a disagreement, but it's another thing entirely when people refuse to look at the facts right in front of their faces. I remember back when I was working that retail gig in Chicago, I had a customer try to tell me the sky was green just because they didn't like the shade of blue outside. People are just... wow. It's frustrating, okay? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just being realistic! You can't just ignore the way things are actually functioning in the US and expect everything to stay perfect. It's exhausting trying to keep up with the nonsense. Just saying! kaže:
So, I’ve gotta get this off my chest because it’s driving me absolutely insane. You know how it is when you start noticing things about your own body that feel... well, a little "off" compared to what you expected? Well, mine is noticeably larger on one side, and honestly, it's been weighing on my mind more than I'd like to admit. But here's the kicker—and it's making me want to scream—it's not just me noticing. My husband has actually gone out of his mouth and said it! We were out walking the other day, just a normal stroll, and he casually mentions how much he prefers the smaller side. And then, get this, whenever we're being intimate, he clearly gravitates toward the bigger one. It’s like he’s playing favorites with my own anatomy! Can you believe the nerve? One minute he's praising the "little guy," and the next he's all over the larger side. I don't know whether to laugh or throw a shoe at him. It feels like I can't win!😂 Honestly, it’s like some guys just don't have the mental capacity for even a little bit of deception. It’s pathetic! I swear, they can't even tell a tiny white lie without their eyes darting around or their voice cracking like they’re about to testify in front of a federal judge. You see them trying to cover something up, and it’s so painfully obvious it actually hurts to watch. It’s like they lack the basic instinct for self-preservation. Seriously, how do you fail at something that simple?😂

😂They’re being completely transparent about it. Honestly, it’s like they aren't even trying to hide the game anymore. It's all so obvious! 😂

🤣

Mine is visibly larger, but hey, what can you do? 🙂

And my boyfriend (almost certainly) noticed, but he wouldn't say a word. When I finally bit the bullet and told him I thought my left one was actually the bigger one (in my case 😉), he just shrugged and went, "So what? Even legs aren't perfectly symmetrical!" 😂 But honestly, I could tell he actually prefers the bigger one... ☕

Laura Mendoza said:Oh, come on. Give me a break. We’ve already had two different threads blowing this whole thing out of proportion. The girl didn't even bother seeing her doctor despite having side effects—which, honestly, just goes to show why you have to actually pay attention to your own body and track how you're feeling.

Look, every single prescription bottle out there carries a warning about blood clots or other chronic symptoms. It's right there in black and white. So... unfortunately, when you look at the statistics, someone is bound to be that one person who ends up suffering the worst-case scenario. It's just math. 😢

Sandra Martin72 said:It's totally normal

The whole body isn't perfectly symmetrical—one side is never quite identical to the other—so your breasts definitely don't have to be the exact same size.

Some people are pretty even, while others aren't at all. I actually remember seeing a story in the news once about how Victoria's Secret designed specific bras with mismatched cup sizes just to account for this very thing.

I'm the exact same way. Whenever I try wearing a push-up bra, it’s super obvious that one side is smaller. It's actually kind of a lot; one side looks great, but on the other, you could literally stick your finger inside the cup because there's so much extra space.

Seriously, don't sweat it.

Tell me about it. It's honestly nothing to worry about. It probably only becomes an "aesthetic issue" if the difference is massive. For instance, a close friend of mine is almost a full cup size apart, and she went back and forth on getting plastic surgery for a while, but she ultimately decided against it. It's really not a big deal... though, obviously, you can always go chat with your primary care doctor if it's bugging you. 😉
granitemaker4 said:Question: Can anyone please give me some advice?
1. I get daily abdominal pain in my lower region. My ovaries are acting up constantly, switching between different types of intense pain—it gets so bad I’m forced to take painkillers just to function.
2. I've been on Yasmin / Diane for 10 years now to manage PCOS. There's zero improvement (aside from finally clearing up my acne and excess hair issues), and if I ever stop taking them, my period just disappears entirely.
3. My Prolactin levels are high, even though I don't have any pituitary tumors (I had surgery for one about 10 years ago) and my thyroid is perfectly fine.
4. I have discharge that changes color and consistency every single day, plus a really unpleasant odor (honestly, it's so frustrating and gross!!!). To make matters worse, I haven't tested positive for a single STI; I've done every test imaginable, including getting Pap smears every few months.
5. I've almost completely lost my libido, which is incredibly weird given what my actual temperament is like!

...and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
How am I supposed to help myself when the gynecologists can't figure anything out??

Are you absolutely sure it isn't endometriosis (given how much pain you're in) or maybe Chlamydia or some other kind of bacterial infection? (Especially since you mentioned that unpleasant odor).
Dealing with Proteus mirabilis? in Women's Health ·
Hannah Bishop said:Can someone please help me out? Like the title says, my sister just got her urine results back and this specific bacteria popped up... does anyone actually know anything about it? Any advice at all would be great, thanks!

So, I’m just gonna paste this here:

The best way to clear out Proteus mirabilis is by using Bearberry leaf (Uva ursi). You boil one teaspoon in about 250 ml of cold water for a few minutes, let it sit covered for 15 minutes, and then drink it three times a day. Use it for 10 days—no longer than that—and don't take Vitamin C or cranberry juice at the same time, since those things make the urine more acidic. Actually, it's better to take one Alka-Seltzer tablet once a day to keep the urine alkaline instead.

Ines Buhač, PharmD

Honestly, just Google it a bit and you'll find plenty of info. Usually, the doctor is going to start with antibiotics first, but it doesn't hurt to try some herbal teas too.
Tampons in Women's Health ·
Don't worry, it’s not going to snap on you! Personally, I always give mine a good, hard tug two or three times before I even think about setting it down, just to make sure the thread is actually holding up properly. 😉
If you’re dealing with a pretty significant yeast infection, then honestly, LGG isn't going to do much more than help out a little bit. It's primarily meant to be used for prevention. If your discharge is white and looks clumpy—like cottage cheese—then we're almost certainly talking about yeast. Personally, I’ve never really dealt with an unpleasant odor, but based on what you're saying, this feels more like a little bacterial issue to me...

But honestly, I don't know. She’s just terrified right now and convinced there's some massive issue going on (even though I know for a fact there isn't—she's just scared it's going to hurt, so she's being stubborn about using them) 🙂 but whatever, I'm not backing down...
I am more than ready for her next period to hit, because then she's finally going to realize how much easier life is with tampons. 👍

Oh, she'll get there. Seriously. She just needs to make sure she doesn't tense up; she's gotta stay relaxed. Tell her to just squat down like she's out camping in the woods trying to find a spot to go, and boom—done!

Tampons in Women's Health ·
Honestly, I had the exact same struggle when I tried using a tampon for the first time, and let me tell you, I wasn't even a virgin. 😁 It was one of those old-school, basic ones—none of that fancy stuff with the built-in lubricant they sell at CVS now—and since my period was already winding down, I was bone dry. It was a disaster. My best friend was standing there outside the bathroom stall trying to give me some pep talk, but it didn't matter; I just couldn't do it. Seriously, if you're going to try this, start with the smallest size possible. And for the love of God, don't wait until the very last day of your cycle when everything is dry, or you'll be too terrified to even get it halfway in. 😉
