Melissa Kern55 said:Totally, I get that. But honestly, I just can't take any chances right now. I'll own up to my mistake, but I'm way too young to be risking an unplanned pregnancy. Thanks so much for everything! :*

Look, I took the morning-after pill once and didn't feel a single thing... So yeah... 🤷
Can you get a Pap Smear if you're a virgin? in Women's Health ·
brightcrane18 said:I was always totally fine with my first partner—my Pap Smears were always spotless. But then I moved on to my second partner, and suddenly my Pap Smear showed some kind of inflammation. I went through the whole routine of using vaginal creams and taking standard pills, but here’s the kicker: even though I haven't been with him in years, every single checkup since then shows the exact same thing. And get this—I found out his current girlfriend is dealing with the same inflammation too! He actually went in to get tested for STDs and everything came back totally clear. So, what the hell is going on here? Is this kind of persistent inflammation even curable?

But what kind of inflammation are we talking about? Is it bacteria, yeast, or something else? 🤷
Abdominal pulsing/throbbing? in Health ·
Trust me, I can feel it too... It’s absolutely insane. 😉
copperrider20 said:But what if you’re at odds with your family? What if my mom and kids want one thing, but my husband and dad are on totally different pages?

At the end of the day, you're an organ donor unless you explicitly opt out. Why do they even bother asking the family? 😠

Honestly, I just keep my donor card tucked right inside my insurance card and hope someone actually notices it in eighty years.

That’s exactly it! What’s the point of us all being registered donors if they just turn around and ask my family anyway? 🤷 It’s total nonsense.
Endocrinology and birth control pills in Women's Health ·
Laura Campbell18 said:Thanks. Honestly, I’m just super confused because my OBGYN told me that if I actually want to get my hormones checked properly, I might need to stop taking birth control—but then she followed it up by saying there’s no reason to quit if I’m not planning on having kids anytime soon. My last real hormone panel was way back in July 2007 because I've been on the pill ever since. Then, during a routine physical in January 2008, they suggested I see an endocrinologist and come back for a follow-up Pap smear in four months because some inflammation made the first one hard to read. When I finally went to ask for a referral, my gynecologist literally smirked at me and asked, "Oh, did they scare you?" Unbelievable. So, I went to my primary care doctor and laid out the whole story. She also gave me that same smirking look, wondering why I waited this long, but she did give me the referral for the specialist. She mentioned my labs are ancient and I definitely need updated ones. But now I’m spiraling because I’m worried the endocrinologist is going to lecture me about being on birth control while trying to figure out what's wrong. I don't even know what to do anymore, so I'm looking for anyone else who's dealt with this. Thanks in advance.

When I went to the endocrinologist for the first time, I was still on the pill too. Trust me, they aren't going to say anything to you. And if you're checking hormones that aren't related to gynecological issues, you don't even need to be off the pill.
Magic soup recipe! in Health ·
That soup is absolutely revolting😁

Look, if I’m actually craving a bit more volume but want to keep things on the lighter side, I just whip up my own veggie soup from scratch. I throw in everything—cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, peas, leeks—and toss in a piece of chicken so I actually have something substantial for lunch. Then I just graze on that for both lunch and dinner.

I don't know about you guys, but I am absolutely losing my mind over here today. Honestly, it’s just one thing after another! I feel like I can't even catch a break without some new complication popping up out of nowhere. It's exhausting. Anyway, I was thinking about what we were discussing earlier—you know, that whole mess with the medication adjustments? I've been staring at my pill organizer for twenty minutes just feeling overwhelmed. It’s like, can we please just have one week where everything stays level? Just one! But no, apparently the universe had other plans for me. Does anyone else feel like they're constantly fighting an uphill battle with their own body? Because I am currently stuck in the middle of a landslide. I'll vent more once I've actually had enough coffee to function, but seriously, stay strong out there. We're all just trying to keep our heads above water. kaže:
So, I’ve been chewing on this all day and I honestly need to vent because some things just don't add up. What does an actual appointment with an endocrinologist even look like? I’m assuming the standard drill is they just send you off for a massive blood panel right out of the gate, right? But here’s the kicker—what if you’re currently on birth control? If those pills are masking everything, then how the hell are they supposed to see what your actual hormone levels are doing? It feels like you're chasing ghosts. If the data is being skewed by medication, is there even any point in seeing a specialist at all? It feels like a total waste of time and money. I’ve already sat through appointments with my OB-GYN and my primary care doctor, and honestly, their logic is driving me up the wall. They basically implied that I should just ignore this whole hormonal mess for now and only deal with it once I actually decide to try for kids. Like, excuse me? That makes zero sense to me. Why wait until there's a baby involved to fix the foundation? I can't wrap my head around that kind of "wait and see" approach. It's infuriating!😕

Look, I’ve been there myself. It wasn't exactly life-changing or anything, just a standard appointment. Usually, you just sit down, vent about whatever is driving you crazy, and then they write up a list of labs you need to get done. But here's the kicker—if you’re looking to get your hormone levels checked, you can't be on birth control. You have to be off the pill for at least two or three months to get an accurate reading. If you're just dealing with thyroid stuff or something similar, though, it doesn't matter; you can go whenever.
Who's the best endocrinologist in town? in Health ·
wanderingotter542 said:Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well!
I really need some help here,
does anyone know a solid endocrinologist? I’d be so grateful for a recommendation.
🙂🙂
thanks

So, I’ve seen Dr. Šimunić a few times. Look, he’s clearly an expert or whatever, but he just isn't my cup of tea—super hard to talk to. The last two times I went, he wasn't even in, so I saw Dr. Šprem instead. Honestly? She is SO much better. She’s actually kind, she really listens to what you're saying, explains things properly, and makes sure you get all the right tests done. Everyone raves about him, so I actually booked an appointment with him, but I just didn't vibe with his style at all... If I can manage to get on her schedule, I'm planning on seeing her from now on.

She’s based over at Mayo Clinic. 😉 (and he's at Mayo Clinic too 😉)
Is OGO water any good? in Health ·
placidjackal36 said:I think I’m going to move over to this subforum. 😬

It's a total scam. We already covered this in the thread where we call out these fraudsters. This hyper-oxygenated water stuff has zero proven benefits for humans. Hell, it has no effect at all. 😁

We take in oxygen through our lungs, not our stomachs.

And can I make one small observation? I feel so sorry for people dealing with psoriasis. It’s such a brutal, relentless disease that a massive number of sufferers end up falling for these absolute snake-oil scams—you know, the usual garbage like Reiki, homeopathy, "oxygenated water," those stupid magnetic bracelets, blah blah blah. You can't talk about medical fraud and people getting fleeced without mentioning psoriasis.

Psoriasis, cancer, and other chronic autoimmune issues—it’s basically a freaking gold mine for scammers. Of course, the FDA can't do a damn thing about this specific water because they just label it as a "dietary supplement." There's no harm, but there's no benefit either. But hey, they’ve got plenty of "anecdotal evidence" claiming things like "Oh my god, it was sooo amazing! 👍 it helped my grandma cure thirty different ailments!".

If you really want oxygenated water, just grab a bottle of tap water, shake the hell out of it, and let some air get in. Oxygen will dissolve in it. Then pour it into another bottle with fresh air and shake it again. It is absolutely useless.
Or you could just drink water that’s being bubbled by one of those aquarium gadgets. It's the exact same crap.

God, I love you! 😍

hiddentiger20 said:Sorry! I have no clue what "spotting" even means... is that like some kind of light bleeding??

Yeah, basically. It's just those super light little bleeds right in the middle of your cycle—some women get them right when they're ovulating.

Sarah Murphy39 said:Is anyone else actually seeing this? I was reading some medical stuff earlier and stumbled upon this idea that you might need to be on birth control just to deal with uterine spotting. Like, seriously? I mean, I’m no doctor, obviously, but it sounds absolutely wild to me. You’re basically taking hormones to fix a hormonal issue that's causing more bleeding? It feels like such a loop. I remember my cousin went through something similar a few years back—she was dealing with all sorts of irregular cycles and ended up on the pill just to stop the constant spotting. It helped her, sure, but it still feels like we're just masking the symptoms instead of finding out what's actually going wrong under the hood. Does anyone here have actual experience with this? Is this a standard move for doctors in the States, or am I just overthinking a weird medical quirk? Because if I had to start daily medication just because my body decided to leak whenever it felt like it, I’d be throwing a bit of a tantrum myself!😁 I was on Diane for eight years straight, and honestly, looking back, I’m convinced that’s exactly when everything started going downhill. It felt like a slow slide that just kept gaining momentum even after I switched over to the generic birth control pills. I can't even remember a time before those pills when I dealt with this kind of mess. Seriously, never again with Diane. And let me tell you, it wasn't even like it helped with the acne or anything—it didn't touch that, and it definitely didn't help with my hair thinning. Just a total waste of time and a disaster for my body.😠
😁

Look, I don't know the first thing about medical science, but from what I can tell, those pills work on just about any crazy ailment you throw at them—so who knows, maybe they even handle discharge too? 😁Well, clearly not. 😁 Honestly, I used to think those Diane beauty treatments were some kind of godsend for dealing with unwanted hair, but you know what? I’ve changed my mind. I would much rather deal with being a little hairy than end up looking like a stuffed turkey after Thanksgiving dinner. Just give me the fuzz over that bloated, artificial look any day! 😂

Sarah Murphy39 said:🙂
So why am I leaking 24/7, every single day of the month? I bet most of you guys have some "normal" discharge and just don't get why this is such a nightmare for others. This isn't okay, even if my doctors keep telling me everything looks fine during exams. It’s like, the second I hop onto that exam table at the clinic, the doctor basically decides for me before they even start checking—"abnormal discharge"😠—but then claims everything is totally fine. Listen, I am constantly wet, it's just a continuous leak... and let me tell you, it is not pleasant. It doesn't even change with my cycle; it's the same all 30 days of the month. I would give anything to just be completely dry for ten minutes.🙂
And when things actually get heated and I'm turned on? Man, that is just straight-up embarrassing.😂

Hmm, I didn't realize it was that heavy. Okay, now I get what you mean! 😉 If it's just daily stuff... I'm not sure if there's much that can help tone it down, unless maybe switching to birth control helps? 🤷

Sarah Murphy39 said:Has any of you ladies found anything to deal with this constant horniness? Honestly, being turned on 24/7 is getting exhausting😁..
I’ve tried those medicated suppositories from the drugstore a few times—they actually work pretty well—but👎.. I don't even want to bother seeing a gynecologist because I'm not dealing with any infections or anything. Everything down there feels perfectly healthy and clean, it's just that I'm leaking like Niagara Falls.
Is there some kind of home remedy? Like, throwing yogurt and garlic in a tampon or something?😁 anything...🤷

Why on earth does it bother you so much? This sounds totally normal to me. Why would you even think about putting stuff inside yourself just because of a perfectly natural bodily function?🤷
Birth control and pregnancy risks in Women's Health ·
quietangler89 said:Let’s just get one thing straight right off the bat so nobody starts jumping down my throat—no, I am not pregnant. And honestly, I have zero doubts about whether I *could* be if I wanted to. It all started when I was grabbing coffee with a friend the other day, and since we both happen to be on Yasmin, the conversation just drifted into this weird territory:
Do you guys think there's actually a chance of getting pregnant while taking the pill perfectly? Like, we were brainstorming ways it could fail, and we wondered if something like an upset stomach or some digestive issue could mess with absorption without you even noticing, so the hormones don't hit your bloodstream quite right?
That was pretty much the only theory we could come up with.
Look, I know, I know—everything is laid out perfectly in that little pamphlet they give you with the prescription. But let's be real; when you're scrolling through forums like this, you always run into someone mentioning a friend, or even a girl they know personally, who ended up pregnant despite being on birth control. And I'm not talking about those obvious cases where someone forgets a pill or finishes half a pack and then acts shocked when they get pregnant. No, I mean that specific scenario I mentioned above. What do you all think about that possibility?

Well... even the pill isn't 100% foolproof, so there's always a theoretical chance. 😁
Timothy Vaughn44 said:Check out what Jerry Booth10 wrote!
Does anyone here actually know much about antibiotics?

Look, there are some symptoms a doctor can just spot instantly without needing a lab report because they’ve probably seen them a hundred times before. They aren't just handing out prescriptions for fun. Honestly, I don't really care if you want to take an antibiotic or not, but presumably, the doctor knows what the hell they're doing better than we do...
fadedpilot2 said:What did you end up using to clear out those bacteria?
Hey, did you head straight to a follow-up appointment right after finishing the treatment, PAPU?

They put me on some antibiotic, honestly I can't recall the exact name. This was about two years ago. I think it might have been Medicated solution or something like that. It absolutely wrecked me, I felt terrible, but hey, you live to tell the tale... 😢

I went in for a Pap smear right after finishing the meds, and wouldn't you know it, that same bacterium was still hanging around. So my doctor prescribed the exact same treatment again, BUT this time he gave my boyfriend a box of meds too. 😉 After that—knock on wood—I haven't had anything show up on a Pap since! 🙏
fadedpilot2 said:I guess I agree with you that a ton of this stuff stays totally invisible and unnoticed. I'm mostly just confused because this isn't my first inflammation, but it is the first time I've actually been prescribed an antibiotic for it. I had all my swabs done about a year ago, but I think I’ll probably go ahead and redo them once my Pap results are in, regardless of what they say.
For now, I’d rather just hold off on using that cream until I see the actual results...

Oh, and one more thing that really threw me for a loop: the doctor told me that if the inflammation doesn't settle down after I finish my five-day course of Klimicin, I should come back for a follow-up. But I don't really get how I'm supposed to "see" if it's gone when I didn't even realize I had something in the first place?!

In my case, they told me I had inflammation (it turned out to be that specific bacteria) and handed me an antibiotic. They probably use the word "inflammation" as a catch-all for a bunch of different things😉
Timothy Vaughn44 said:If you haven't noticed any issues yourself, then honestly, you're probably better off just tucking it away in the closet and forgetting about it...

Wow, what a brilliant piece of advice you gave her there. Seriously. 🙄

Clarice, look, I’ve dealt with a specific bacteria twice now, and not once did I experience a single side effect. So, trust me, your doctor didn't just hand you an antibiotic for the fun of it.
Nausea and dizziness in Health ·
Sarah Reed3 said:So I’ve got this thing going on. It’s not like a massive emergency or anything, but it’s driving me nuts, so I figured I’d throw it out there and see what you guys think... basically, lately I’ve been feeling super dizzy and nauseous all the time. Like, that constant "I'm gonna barf" feeling, except nothing actually comes up. I went for blood work a few months back and everything checked out—iron levels are fine, my EKG was good, thyroid is normal, and I even did that test for H. pylori bacteria in my stomach, but nope, I don't have it and never have. I wondered if maybe my birth control could be the culprit, but I’ve been on the same pills for years and never had a single side effect until now. If anyone has any ideas on how to make this stop, please let me know...🙂
Thanks in advance

That happened to me for about ten days straight once. It just went away on its own. Honestly, you might just be dealing with a bit too much stress right now.😉

Could it be low blood pressure causing the dizziness?

Amanda Moore79 said:Hey, is it actually normal to have constant discharge without any other symptoms? Like, I dealt with the yeast infection thing, but now I'm just left with this clear discharge—kind of like what you get during ovulation. Except for me, it feels like it’s happening every single day now...

Ugh, tell me about it. I feel like I'm dealing with constant discharge too. My doctor told me it's totally fine as long as it isn't cloudy or has some weird, gross smell, but still...😁
