Everyone laughed at me a few concerts ago when I suggested these Matchsticks might actually go somewhere... well, yesterday they proved me right. They were absolutely killer. If I had to nitpick, maybe a few less slow songs (damn 😳), some tracks could’ve been shorter, and the drummer 🙈 probably should have kept her mouth shut between songs 😁. Still, it was great—at times, truly incredible. It gave me vibes of Sleater-Kinney, Paraf, and all that good stuff. My only fear is that they’ll "mature" and mellow out; if they lose that punk edge in favor of some overly earnest, female-empowerment balladry, they might wander into Meritas territory... let's hope they don't. I wanted to grab a CD, but for some reason, I didn't. Probably just wasn't ready for an awkward chat with the girls 😁

The whole stage situation is a joke. You aren't the first group to think playing by the riverfront was a bright idea 😉

I’d be asking why everyone was stuck waiting until 10:45 if the promoters explicitly promised we’d be wrapped up by 10:30... why didn't the opening act just kick things off at 9:00? What was the hold-up? 🤷

And honestly, the staff at the venue acted like total cowards, I have to admit... "Is it 10:15?" — "It's 10:25!" — "Well, what time is it EXACTLY?" — "IT'S TEN TWENTY-FIVE, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!" — "Alright, alright, one more thing..."

Great band, really, but you guys definitely lacked that punk rock solidarity... 😢

I wonder how much more that guy would have been rambling if the cops hadn't shown up. Between the headlights and those sunglasses, he could barely even see the drum kit through the glare😬

Then again, I had four beers in me, so I'll admit the music wasn't half bad🙈 Personally, I think they might actually be onto something if they spent another year grinding at it🤷
