Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
If someone stuck in a quarantine lockdown with a dog, I bet you some animal lovers or those huge pet advocacy groups would jump at the chance to swing by and walk the pup a few times a day 🤔

Honestly, though, I can't wrap my head around how we've gotten to this point in America where people feel so disconnected that even friends, acquaintances, or neighbors wouldn't step up to help out.
wiredseal7 said:They should be monitoring from a distance—which is actually what they do where I live (not in the US).

Even at my local bakery, the woman puts bread into bags using the same gloves she used to handle cash or credit cards from previous customers. Seriously, haven't they heard of tongs? I actually had to crank up the oven and bake my bread for another 10 minutes just to feel safe.

But hey, what can you do? I guess the best bet is just flooding the government with complaints about these little details that actually drive the infection rates up.

Man, either your people have superhuman eyesight or you guys are carrying around giant ID cards.😂

So, wait—is it the same deal for you? Like, do they set up checkpoints a few miles inside the city instead of just at the borders?
Man, they seriously screwed up here in my city and basically created a perfect storm for spreading this damn virus.

So, get this—there are two main ways you can even enter town now. Instead of having checkpoints at both of those entrances, they decided to put the cops at one single spot about 2-1.9 miles miles deep inside the city limits. Now everyone is just stuck in these massive lines of cars waiting to be checked.

And here’s the kicker: like 90% of the people driving through there actually live right there in those 2-1.9 miles outskirts neighborhoods. Under the current rules, they're totally allowed to head into town for groceries and stuff, so they have to pass through.

Every single resident passing through ends up in close contact with an officer because they have to hand over their ID. Then the cop grabs your ID with his hands—after he's already been touching hundreds of other IDs while wearing those gloves—and then hands it right back to you. It’s just common sense, right? Total madness.🙂
Rebecca Peterson94 said:Look, just use the e-visitor system to sign up. Honestly, I'm pretty sure that's the only way to actually get through right now.
So, here's the deal with the transit passes: the employer actually covers them, but there's a catch. They only pay for the commute between your home address and the office, and that's it. No extra perks for running errands or hitting up the mall on the way home—just the straight shot to work and back.

Can you actually register your own apartment through e-visitor too?
Like, if the person doesn't officially live there but they actually own the place.

I mean, some people just head over temporarily to stay in an aunt's or a brother's place while they're living out in Europe, leaving their actual homes here in America sitting empty since they only show up for the summer. What are we even supposed to do about those cases?
Does the online residency registration via e-ID actually work?

I’ve seen plenty of cases where people—mostly because of the whole pandemic mess and the fear of bringing something home to their families—decided to temporarily bunk up in empty apartments owned by relatives.

A lot of these places are just 10-9.3 miles minutes outside the city limits, but technically they fall under a different municipality.

So, what happens with folks in that spot?
From what I gather, the law says you don't even need to register your residence if you're staying somewhere for less than three months, but what are you supposed to do now with all these pass requirements hanging over our heads?
How do you clean a laptop keyboard? in IT Support ·
This looks pretty cool, might have to give it a shot sometime 👍

but honestly, for my everyday cleaning routine, I just stick to the stuff I already have under the sink
(I mean, most households in the States have a vacuum lying around somewhere)

Obviously, you need a whole, intact laptop,
otherwise, people with keys falling off their keyboards should definitely stay far away from a vacuum unless they want to end up without any keys at all
though I did see some random hack online about stretching a nylon stocking over the nozzle, but I haven't actually tried that myself yet

Matthew Kern3 said:What does that attachment even look like? Is it one of those wide ones meant for floors or something?

Sent from my NextGen using Reddit

Nah, it’s not just for floors. They usually ship it with a few small attachments too.
I personally use this kind of thing to clean my laptop, the TV, and stuff like that because the bristles are soft—you know, so you don't end up scratching the screen or anything.

It works with any standard vacuum (the link goes to the first image I found that looks identical, just ignore the actual webpage)

So, I grab that little soft brush attachment for my vacuum and go to town on the keyboard—because let's be real, dust always ends up all over the rest of the laptop anyway.
Then I hit it with an antibacterial wipe (I usually just grab the ones from Walmart, but honestly, they're everywhere)

This is how I’ve been cleaning my laptop for years, literally forever👍

And obviously, you gotta have the laptop turned off while you're scrubbing it, duh.

I grabbed a Dell monitor along with a Logitech keyboard and mouse combo.
They didn't have the PSU in stock, so I just went with an EVGA power supply—I'm assuming those things are decent enough.

Once I get this thing built, I'll give you guys my thoughts. Honestly, I've never owned such a potato of a PC, so I'm pretty curious to see how it actually performs.

They actually have these whole other sets of books specifically for the experimental track. If I’m reading this right—and I might be totally off, my brain is fried today—the bulk of the actual content is all digital. The physical books look way thinner because they hand out tablets so the kids can actually get to the stuff they need to see.

I’m guessing the digital stuff is mostly visual anyway, like, you don't even really have to sit there and grind through reading it—but hey, I haven't actually seen it myself, so take my word with a massive grain of salt.

Honestly, I was pretty floored when I heard they’re only teaching printed letters. Apparently, they've covered about a third less material than the standard curriculum. Like you were saying, some kids nail those printed letters before they even hit kindergarten, and then you've got the average kid who eventually gets it in school, whether they struggle through it or not.

To me, it feels like this program would be great for that 10% of kids dealing with different learning hurdles, but I just don't see how it's supposed to push the kids who are already doing fine or even excelling.😕

Paul Allen26 said:Does anyone here have kids currently enrolled in the School of Life who could give us some firsthand insight into how everything actually works? I feel like the media coverage doesn't really give much substance to go on. I'm also curious about the same thing regarding those mandatory computer science classes.

Look, on the flip side, a buddy of mine has a little one in first grade
She’s telling me they’re spending the entire school year just grinding through printed letters—standard public schools usually cover cursive too—and apparently, they’ve only even touched about 6 or 7 letters so far.🤔
Math is moving at a snail's pace, so I guess they just watered down the curriculum or something.
Science seems to be following the usual routine, though.
They’ve got computer class and English.
As for those tablets everyone talks about? When I saw her last week, they hadn't even handed them out yet, so at least for now, the kid is actually working on basic handwriting skills.

if you’re actually gonna go out and grab a Bible, do yourself a favor and get the white one from $150. seriously, those pages have this gold tint to them that makes it look way classier than that red version with the plain white pages🙂

Qvar autohaler

Both are brand new, never even touched

If anyone actually needs this stuff, please take it! I’d love to pass it on so it doesn't just sit here gathering dust. Honestly, I looked up the price at the pharmacy and it was like $20, so it feels like such a waste to let it go to waste when someone could use it!

Extended stays - what are your experiences? in Students & Teens ·
Around here, after-school care runs until 4:30 PM for the first through third graders—and honestly, I’m pretty sure every school in our city is on the same schedule, since nobody seems to stay open until 5:00 PM.

Plus, they start the morning drop-off at 6:30 AM.
Kate Evans48 said:Does anyone know what the co-pay is for an IgE blood test at the local clinic if you don't have supplemental health insurance?

And also, how much is the co-pay for T3, T4, and TSH tests?

I actually called the hospital—figured I’d drop the info here in case someone else is stuck wondering too, just being helpful or whatever.

For the total IgE, the co-pay is $27

As for T3, T4, and TSH, it's $40

Aetna supplemental insurance in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, I’m spiraling a bit thinking about getting supplemental health insurance.

I was digging through the fine print for Medicare and apparently, their coverage doesn't even kick in until 30 days after you sign the contract... which is just typical, right? Just waiting around for nothing.

But here's the thing—I am looking everywhere, and I seriously cannot find the specifics in the Aetna terms. Like, when does the coverage actually start? If I go ahead and sign everything tomorrow, how long am I stuck just waiting before I can actually use it?
Angela Wright said:If it actually turns out to be fungus, you’re gonna need an antifungal, maybe something like Red Bull. You probably have some cream sitting in your cabinet somewhere—it usually tastes like banana or something—and it clears stuff up in a few days.
The real headache is figuring out why the fungus is acting up in the first place. I mean, they're basically part of us, right? But once things get out of whack... boom. Usually, it's a stomach thing. Your gut might just be totally messed up right now.
Anyway, seriously, go see your doctor and get a referral for a gastroenterologist so they can actually check out what's going on in your gut.
And yeah, load up on yogurt and probiotics. It helps.👍

Wait, so how do they even know? Is there like a swab test for fungus or something to prove that's what it is?
