I mean, what do you expect? It sounds like a small amount, but honestly—you wouldn't believe how much this stuff actually costs... even just a towel rack is more than $33 (assuming it isn't cheap plastic)

Anthony Barrett37 said:Look, don't get mad, but all this stuff together isn't even worth $33. Why can't you just buy it yourself and stop stressing out the guys?🤷

I mean, I could always use more cash 😁

He told me to make a list of those little things—so I did.

Today, a mountain of cash basically vanished into thin air on door handles, screws, lip balm, washers, and all that other junk that feels like nothing at the time.

And that’s how it goes—every single day, it’s just small, mindless purchases until the money is totally gone.

I'll hit you up tomorrow

Just shoot me a DM if I missed any of these little things.🙂

I don't have everything memorized right now, but roughly speaking:

- towel racks
- soap dish
- toothbrush holder
- liquid soap dispenser
- toilet paper holder
- toilet brush with its stand
- bathroom rug set (you know, the ones for the floor, the base of the toilet... whatever they call those sets)

- as for the big stuff, we still need a bathroom radiator and a shower stall
- also need cables, outlets, and switches to get the electricity sorted
- plus pipes, fittings, joints, and all that plumbing gear

I sure was 😁 and I’ll be looking for you again 🤣

Still need to grab some supplies to finish up the bathroom remodel:

- Some drywall (the moisture-resistant stuff) and all the mounting gear
- Insulation for behind the boards and inside the partition walls—guessing we'll go with some mineral wool
- All the plumbing gear—pipes, connectors, fittings, the whole nine yards

And honestly, we're a bit short on cash for the shower stall and those little extras—towel racks and whatnot

Quick update:

- finally got the laminate laid down in the big room
- wrestled that new wardrobe together
- swapped out the bathroom window

Found a volunteer tiler to help us out 🎉 🎉

- they offered us a cubic yard of sand and a few bags of cement—now we just need to find a way to haul it all (ideally a pickup with a trailer, since nothing bigger than that is getting through our driveway)

Tomorrow's plan is more furniture assembly in the finished room. Fingers crossed we can scrape together enough cash for another 8 square feet of laminate (that's what's left) so we can tackle the second bedroom next.

p.s. We’re hunting for about 5 square feet of roofing tiles or shingles to patch up the roof—it’s leaking like crazy right now. Used stuff is totally fine if you have some lying around.

The fans got together today for a little charity project—they actually set up a whole room and laid down some laminate flooring

So... feeling better about things now? 🙂

Quick update:

- Bathroom's all prepped for the drywall
- Windows are knocked out and bricked up
- One more round of patching done
- Starting on the ceiling
- Yard's cleared—finally finished hauling away the brush and deadwood

The game plan for tomorrow (fingers crossed):

- Painting
- Kicking off the laminate flooring installation
- Getting that bathroom window back in (assuming the masonry dries fast enough)
- Scrubbing down the baseboards, doors, and windows

I mean, sure, 🙂 but you guys better watch your manners—there's gonna be a Lady there too. 😁

Just a heads up, didn't want to say I didn't warn you. 😁

Not to brag or anything, but I just recruited two more people... poor things lost a hand of poker, so now they have to join us. 🤣

just send over some cash—diamonds, gold, whatever works.

We need it for concrete, piping, and drywall.🙂

Anonymous said:A slab of tile🤣?? I bet the folks installing laminate are gonna love that idea.
Is there any cement included??

I don't think so

If I can scrape some cash together by tomorrow, I'll grab whatever else we need
Right now, I'm totally broke

Angela Newman33, did you ever get that hole in your bedroom floor fixed??

Nah, still haven't done it—just need to cut some new tiles and slap them down.

Anonymous said:It’s just not gonna work—not practical at all. You can't be working in both rooms at once... you've got one person wiping down surfaces in one spot, then you gotta run to the other room, then back again. Same thing with painting—if you're constantly waiting around for someone else to clear out of a space... it's just wasted time, pure and simple.
The fewer people inside while the work is happening, the faster it gets done. Plus, if you're stuck waiting on paint to dry, you can't exactly rush things. Honestly? It'd be better if you just let us handle the scheduling for the interior work ourselves... after all, this is our area of expertise.☕

Anyway, figure it out however you think is best—I'm not looking to butt in.

Anonymous said:Duh, obviously not... I mean, it’s not summer and the sun isn't staying up until 9 PM anymore. :=P
Plus you’ve got the whole drying process to deal with... and since it's such an old house, those walls could be holding a ton of moisture. On top of that, even with waterproof paint, sometimes things react weirdly during the drying phase... so it takes forever. Then there's the human factor—you can't exactly paint while someone else is laying down laminate flooring, and vice versa. You can't just layer laminate over certain stuff...
So, did the contractor not show up? Well, he's smoothing and painting tomorrow. We probably can't even touch the laminate until Sunday at the earliest.
I don't know how much has changed since I was last here, but from what I saw, there's still a massive amount of finishing work needed before they even think about painting. Unless, of course, they just don't care how it turns out. :=P

The guy was patching stuff up on Thursday.

He smoothed out the ceiling in the smaller room, around the doors and windows, and that wall that was added later.

And he fixed a few other bits too (like those gaps between the wall and the drywall on the ceiling).

I get that you can't do everything at once, but we have two rooms, so we might be able to work on the ceiling in one while doing something else in the other.

We'll see how doable and practical that actually is.

Main thing is, we're making progress.

Anonymous said:I’d probably just start smashing things.😁. Gonna go hunt down some more gear for the job

Gonna smash one 🤣

your wife is gonna love it... you'll burn off all that extra energy and be out of commission for a week😍

The game plan for tomorrow:

1. Finish up the drywall mudding and get a head start on painting
2. Knock out those bathroom windows and brick them up
3. Rip up the bathroom floor tiles and level everything out
4. Get the plumbing installed
5. Finally get the backyard cleaned up once and for all
6. Dig the trench and lay down the water line

7. (If we actually manage to finish the rest) maybe start laying down some laminate

That’s the gist of it for now.

Now we just need to divvy everyone up into crews—depends on how many people show up and who actually knows what they're doing with certain tasks.

I'm bringing in another 6 or 7 people, plus a few more for Sunday.

I just hope those folks down South who think they're coming to save the day realize I've got my own motorcycle...😛

I'm honestly just hoping there'll be so many of you guys that nobody even knows who anyone is anymore🙂

Yeah, I mean—should I ask my wife to let me catch the game and handle the ride too? As for food, I'll just take care of myself.

You think it’d work if a second wife asked her to let you go? 🤣

Anonymous said:Hey, give me an update on how things look tonight so my buddies know what kind of gear they need to bring.

will

we just picked up two wardrobes for the kids and we're heading out to drop them off tonight... maybe by some miracle the handyman actually shows up and gets stuff done in the meantime, though I'm not holding my breath 😢

I'll post a full update once I'm back
