Anonymous said:He had to give his wife her old handle back. Anyway, I'll probably swing by tomorrow morning for a beer if you guys are actually serious about meeting up. I've got some spare parts and tools ready if anyone's looking to mess with their bike..

Is that even you? I almost didn't recognize you 😁

Yeah, yeah... definitely a bike 🎉

Hey, you know anyone with a van handy? I’m in a bit of a bind and need to haul some stuff across town ASAP today.

I'll let the guys at Home Depot know they need to restock

analogheron19 said:Do we need extra hands tomorrow from 9 to 1?

Yeah, we do.

The painter didn't even show up today—and he’s totally ghosting my calls. What an absolute jerk. 😢

Basically, because of him, the laminate installation is pushed back and the kids' move-in date is up in the air. 😢

I'm gonna try to get a head start on the ceilings tonight, then once we all link up tomorrow, we can divvy up the work.

The ceiling is finally primed, so there's a decent shot we might actually get moving tomorrow.

I'm not getting my hopes up just yet though... better safe than sorry. 🤣

A huge shipment showed up today—tiles, two faucets, and the bathroom vanity.

Still need to grab the shower stall and the rest of the floor and wall materials from that list.

Sandra Garcia7 said:Actually, looking at it now, things seem a bit different—I just confirmed with the contractor that he finished painting and prepping that room, so all that's left is laying down the laminate. P.S. I don't see any window casing anywhere, and from what I know, you can't install the window without it, so PEOPLE, THIS IS URGENT. If you know the window width, let me know.

For a tiny little window like that, you don't even need casing.

The handyman patched up everything around the door and windows yesterday—plus that spot near the ceiling in the bigger room.
He also stripped all the old paint off the other ceiling and applied some primer.
Today's all about smoothing things out, sanding, and then starting on the second room's ceiling.

So now we're just waiting for things to dry before the painting starts—probably tomorrow.

I can't promise it'll be wrapped up by Saturday, though. With this guy, you never really know when he's actually going to show up or if he'll just flake out.

That's why I’m not making any firm plans yet—until everything is actually done, I'm staying cautiously optimistic. 😁

Weekend battle plan:

- Rip up those bathroom floor tiles
- Pull out the old window and just brick up the gap for now
- get a new window installed
- Lay down some laminate in the bedroom
- Sort out all the plumbing and drainage in the bathroom
- Tile the floor
- Finish cleaning up the backyard once and for all
- Dig the trench for the water line

Sandra Garcia7 said:Don't be such a gatekeeper with the details—people who actually want to help need to know what they're walking into. From what I can tell, someone needs to cut a big window in the bathroom, which isn't rocket science, but you really need to get all that squared away before you even think about calling a tile guy. Once that's done, you'll need to set up some smaller supports and prep everything before the tiles go on. Just a heads-up, you're gonna need some mortar too (correct me if you've already got that covered)
Plus, there’s a doorway that needs to be knocked out and framed. You might need to level the floor, patch up the hole where the tub used to be, and all that jazz. When you just list "toilet and sink," people think that's the whole job. They'll show up ready to install those, but they won't realize how far from finished the room actually is.
I'm not trying to be a jerk or start an argument here, I just want everyone to realize there's a ton of work and supplies needed. Let me try to list out what I think we'll need for materials—feel free to fix my mistakes or add stuff (I'm sure some pros in here will chime in):
TILE ADHESIVE
GROUT
SPACERS
CEMENT—for the doorway and patching the tub area
MORTAR (2x length of the window) = ?
EXPANSION FOAM
In my opinion, there's no point in looking for a tile specialist until we knock this part out first.
Alright folks, step up if you can help. Angela Newman33, hit us up so we can get this moving.

Hey, check out this "Home Improvement" guide, it covers everything in detail:

We finally scored the oval corner shower, the toilet, the tank, the sink, and all the tiles

Now we’re just missing the actual shower stall... and honestly, seeing how much those oval ones go for, we're gonna be saving up for a minute

gotcha

see you around 5 🙂

Anonymous said:Look, worst case scenario, just skip over those doors... you can always fix things later if you can't find someone right away—honestly, I don't see it as much of an issue, plus you won't have to deal with some contractor dragging his feet to come back and finish up... we aren't running a bakery here, we'll figure it out😁....

I'm gonna give this idiot a call sometime today and try to work something out if I can... though my timeline at work is a bit of a mess right now... I can't just wander off whenever I feel like it🤷...

We found a guy for the doors, so he should get everything squared away today🙂

Anonymous said:You see what I mean? It’s the same thing that bugs me—I'm out here actually putting in the work, yet somehow I still end up looking like the lazy one. 🙂Angela Newman33, you might want to give this some thought. 🤷Man, it feels like this day is gonna drag on forever—pretty sure it won't wrap up until well after 6...

🙏 She's the queen, honestly—but I've come down with a nasty case of the flu, so there's no way I'm making it this Saturday. 🙂😬

Yeah, I know... I know everything.

That’s really just talking about the folks who aren't working right now—you know, the students catching a breather between exams while they still have a little bit of downtime.

Look, I’m not out here making up deadlines just for the hell of it—it’s just that contractors have their own damn timelines to deal with. 😁
You can't exactly move faster than the drying process—it's just physics. Once everything finally dries out, that's when they get to work, usually starting first thing in the morning.

If he rolls up early in the morning and catches a bit of momentum, he’ll be at my door before I even know what hit me... and since the door isn't even properly installed yet... he'll just end up stuck waiting on me—and then his whole day is basically shot.

Look, don't come at me—I'm just the messenger. 😁

Don't mess around with the little guy... honestly, when he gives me that look, I'm immediately running to find something productive to do. 🤣

So, I had no clue what was going on this afternoon... then the contractor finally rolls up with the verdict that everything is dry and he'll be back first thing tomorrow morning. Now I'm officially panicking. 😬 The doors aren't lined up right.

Look, widening the hole isn't the hard part—it's making sure you don't accidentally compromise the whole foundation while you're at it. 😁

I've seen guys who thought they were experts when they first installed their front doors... fast forward to now, and those doors are sitting at a five-degree tilt. 🤣

Hey, I've got a bit of an emergency here

Tomorrow during the day, I need someone to come pull a door off its hinges, widen the frame opening, and install a new one

Does anyone here actually know how to handle this kind of thing and happen to be free tomorrow?

It absolutely has to happen tomorrow—otherwise, everything else gets pushed back and we're stuck on Wednesday

Anonymous said:I’d love to help out, but since I'm nowhere near the city—not exactly within driving distance to lend a hand in person—is there any other way to do this?

You could always mail a package or just Venmo some cash to their account.

Anonymous said:Are we actually doing this tomorrow? What's the plan and where at?

I'll bring some picture books and cartoons for the kids—might scramble together a few other things too.

Tomorrow starts around 10:30 AM and goes from there.

The contractor is coming by to wrap up the walls and ceiling,
so we should be ready to move on the day after.

Other than that, there isn't much else to tackle tomorrow.

As for the leftover trash, we're either waiting for the budget to clear or we'll have to beg the local sanitation department to give us a free pass on the pickup.

Can I get a little extra motivation here?

On March 18th, my little princess turns 4, and it would be absolutely killer if we had this whole thing wrapped up by then.

I want her to actually have a real birthday—you know, cake, candles, presents... the whole nine yards. Plus, she’ll finally have a place where her friends can come over and just go wild jumping on the bed.😁

I’ve already gone out and bought a mountain of gifts, so now we just need a room to actually put them in.🙂
