It was actually better than previous years. Still feels kind of soulless, honestly—kind of giving me those local county fair vibes—but overall, it’s a massive step up from before. Way bigger crowds this time, too. And thankfully, no rain. Last night, even the sponsor decided to play hero, handing out blankets and pink Santa Claus hats. Kraftwerk was solid on the first day, but having only half a show per day was a total bummer. Franzi was good. I'm big on YYYs, but man, that had to be one of the worst gigs in the country lately. The sound quality was absolute garbage. Just as bad as that Tricky set the day before. N.E.R.D. still has those two killer tracks that make you want to jump off the ceiling. Now I can't even remember what else I caught. I'm pretty skeptical about whether we should sign that Grk guy; I doubt anyone would cough up a million bucks a year for him. Might be better to just stick with Mandžo.
Debunking the concert runtime Started right on the dot at 10:00 PM, wrapped up at 1:12 AM. That’s 3 hours and 12 minutes total. Absolute madness. The show was basically sold out by 10:30 PM.
I mean, I’m pretty sure the venue usually lets you reserve tickets. If you can't grab them online, you should definitely be able to call them up and book under your name. Then you just show up at the gate on the day of the show and wait in line.
Honestly, even the most chill organizers wouldn't think putting Mogwai and Neno Belan on the same bill is a massive clash, but apparently, they do. The scheduling was a nightmare because the venue is always packed—finding an open slot is basically impossible.
For those of you actually planning to show up, here’s the lowdown: They’re filming a live album, which should drop this spring as some kind of career retrospective. Neno is going to play his entire catalog, starting all the way from Devil Comes Here. Last time, the set dragged on well past two and a half hours, so expect it to be even longer this time. Special guests include Massimo, Marijan Ban, and Vlado Kreslin. The show should kick off around 9 PM, though who knows when it'll actually wrap up. Given how fast tickets are moving, we might see a sellout. Even the last gig was right on the edge of being completely gone.
Neno Belan hanging out with fans and everyone else Heads up about the concert at the culture factory Wednesday 11/05, starting at 3 PM Tower Records, Masarykova 6
Neno Belan & Accenture & guests Nov 13, 2009, starting at 8:00 PM Chicago. Culture Factory
After that last show in Chicago almost sold out, Neno Belan and Accenture are heading back to the same venue, bringing some special guests along for the ride. They’re looking to record a live album, which means this will likely be the big final Chicago gig supporting the "Rijeka Dream" record. Last time they played, they went for nearly three hours straight—who knows if they'll pull an all-nighter this time... Joining them on stage are Marijan Ban, Massimo, and Vlado Kreslin. Tickets go on sale today starting at $23. Tower Records. Atlantic Records. Culture Factory. Gagosian Gallery. Mall of America.
