So, I need some help here. Here's the situation: back on December 28, 2007, I was in a car accident where I hit a pedestrian. He ended up in the hospital with a compound fracture in his arm—had to have surgery—but he’s basically recovered now and is heading back to work in two weeks. Since he's actually a longtime friend of mine, I decided to just be upfront and ask him what his plan is regarding compensation. According to the police report, I'm at fault, which means he could sue me personally for aggravated assault/battery and pain and suffering, or he could just file a claim through my auto insurance. He told me he looked into it and claims he could get $10000 from insurance and then potentially $23333 through a private lawsuit. He suggested we skip all the legal headaches if I just give him $15000—obviously with a signed release stating he won't pursue any further claims against me or my insurance. Is it actually possible for him to pull that kind of money from an insurance company? Keep in mind, he was also drunk at the time of the accident. Has anyone dealt with private lawsuits before? I’m not trying to dodge responsibility, but if I pay him this amount, I want to make sure I'm legally covered. Does that make sense? Basically, should I take the deal and hand over the $15000, or let him go after the insurance (which I'll eventually have to pay back anyway since I'm liable) plus a personal lawsuit?
Question #2
Since I was also under the influence, the police hit me with a $1000 fine plus a six-month driver's license suspension. I paid the fine immediately, and I'm turning in my license this Monday. Given that the accident is being classified as causing serious bodily injury, am I looking at additional penalties later on, or is the fine I already paid in traffic court the end of it?
EDIT: This post is about the private lawsuit and insurance stuff; I just tacked the misdemeanor question on at the end. You could have just kept that part separate.
Arthur Ramos said:I’m officially tapping out. I can't even look at this anymore—there are so many damn cakes on display that my brain is actually short-circuiting trying to pick one. Honestly, no joke... I have zero clue which one to go for.
Same here. Honestly, I'm not even buying my own cake—you have no idea how much of a headache that is. Sure, $1000 it saves money, but seeing all those options makes me want to tell my godmother to just skip the dessert entirely. My maid of honor usually handles it for me anyway.
So, here’s the deal: I’m on day 4 of my period, and just like usual, the first three days were pretty painful... but then yesterday, my left ovary (which happens to be polycystic, by the way) started absolutely killing me... and it just won't quit. I can't get an appointment with my gynecologist right now, and honestly, I'm starting to freak out a little bit. Because nothing seems to be touching this pain; nothing helps. I actually had some issues with my kidneys and bladder recently too, so I'm wondering if maybe everything is somehow connected... I'm not sure if I'll be able to see a specialist before next week... but yeah, I'm feeling a little scared. It really weirds me out that the pain isn't letting up, especially since I've never really had intense pain during my period like this before.
It's most likely tied to this stupid weather change, but you should definitely head to the doctor—you've got nothing to lose.
I’m dealing with the exact same thing. It’s that specific kind of pain—it’s hard to put into words, honestly. I went to my OB-GYN and they did an ultrasound, which showed everything was clear. Apparently, they aren't dangerous. My doctor explained that they basically act as a barrier, making it harder for sperm to reach the uterus, so getting pregnant can be a bit more of a struggle. I actually started crying right there, but he calmed me down—told me everything would be fine and that the baby will come, just maybe not in the very first month! He recommended I try birth control since my cycles might be irregular. So yeah, don't worry, it's all going to be okay!
I honestly feel like the layers should be separated by some kind of structural support—you know, like one layer, then a little spacer, then the next layer, then another spacer. But hey, don't listen to me; I’m just a guy who likes cow cakes and ballet. http://www.favorideas.com/com_images...g_124139_3.jpg From what I can tell, the cake is actually segmented—meaning the individual tiers are distinct.
Honestly, when you guys start raving about those gourmet cakes, I just feel bad for myself because I have zero sweet tooth. It’s actually kind of tragic 😠😠

It's not even that she's acting like a bride, it's more like the maid of honor is being totally difficult—I don't even know how to describe it. 😕😕 She told me I should decide everything myself, except for the cake, which is supposed to be her contribution. To me, it feels just as stupid, but honestly? A cake isn't worth dealing with that old lady's drama. Still, I might have enough time left to pull a little something off.
😠😠This cake situation is going to drive me insane. I found this gorgeous one, and there’s a local baker who can make it happen—but then my godmother jumps in out of nowhere, acting all entitled, saying she’ll provide the cake because her daughter got one from her ten years ago. Like, okay? I was planning to suggest a specific style and show a photo, but everyone is already breathing down my neck asking if I’m being "difficult"—which is totally rude. She’s supposed to pick the cake herself. They actually told me not to even think about showing a picture. Are you kidding me? Just imagine if she brings some red, white, and blue monstrosity because that's her favorite, when my whole theme is green and white... how is that even going to work? It would be great if it were something fancy and elegant, too, but the lady baking it has been doing this for fifty years—basically since the fifties. Aaaaaaaah.😂🤣
I know it’s probably not the nicest way to think, but I’m working so hard to keep everything strictly two-toned and not too busy, and now this cake...🤷🤷
I honestly thought about secretly having my own cake made to match my vision, and then right before serving, I'd have the people in the kitchen swap it out for mine😉. By then, it’ll be too late to change anything, and my godmother will just storm off home like some kind of dragon . Then again, people will say a cake isn't worth a fight and tell me I'm overreacting, blah, blah, blah...
