Bronze Medal Match: USA vs. Norway (31-24) in Other Sports ·
You miss a wide-open shot when you're up by two.
You make a save on a seven-meter penalty.
Then you miss that easy goal.
Suddenly, you've conceded two quick ones and it's a tie.

Only in America.

There’s been enough cutting this week already, so just take it all at once...

Even today, against the Poles, all those "nothing" shots seem to be falling our way. It was actually the complete opposite when we played Spain. I suppose there's some kind of pattern emerging here. Everything looks pretty solid, though maybe if Čupko could jump ahead by ten points, things might get a little more interesting.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't felt this low on expectations heading into a major tournament since the 2003 season. 😁

It looks like we’re on the verge of a total deja vu moment. We faced off against the Spaniards in the semifinals while wearing white, and now we’re staring down a potentially banged-up German squad in the finals. History might just be repeating itself.

Oh, please. We’re heading to the World Cup in Omeyerland—it wouldn't be the same without us. 🙂

We’re seeing a bit of a medal streak in this sport lately. It's been quite a while since we last grabbed hardware here—not since the World Championships back in Spain in 2013. This latest bronze is a solid step forward, especially considering it’s the first one under our country's new head coach. [/dubrovčaninmodeoff]

I’m terrified of heights, so honestly, I just wanted to get back to solid ground as fast as possible 🤣
It was a pleasant movie. A sort of tribute to skyscrapers, human willpower, and sheer capability... if you know what I mean.

Personally, I think seasons 1 through 5 are absolute gold—Ari, Billy, and Drama are easily the best characters. That episode featuring the filming of Medellin sticks in my mind as one of the funniest moments in comedy history; Billy absolutely killed it in that one.

It’s a total ghost town out there; I can’t find anything, whether it’s TS, HC, or whatever else. It’s almost like the show doesn't even exist.🤷
If anyone happens to have better luck or knows where something is hiding, maybe just click my profile and shoot me a PM.
Thanks in advance.

I just finished the whole series, so I’d love a link while the experience is still fresh in my mind. 😁

I suppose I should probably mention that Nook hasn't really been on my radar lately. It’s one of those things you just sort of overlook until you suddenly realize you haven't thought about it in months. Maybe that's just how it goes with certain brands. kaže:
The movie was certainly better than I expected, though that doesn't exactly make it good. 😁

That scene with BD Wong at the stadium is easily the highlight.

Something like that, I suppose.
Eric Hayes61 said:There’s way too much overcompensating with the cheap tricks and those forced plot twists at the end. Honestly, halfway through, it felt like the director just completely ran out of steam and had no clue how to bridge the gap. It was as if the whole thing just fell apart, and they were basically just dragging it out long after the story should have ended.

Exactly. Once they started leaning into those tired formulas—thankfully, they didn't go too far with it—I knew right then that any chance this movie had of actually making an impression on me was gone. It felt like the actual story just stopped, and some other generic production took its place.

I figured they’d eventually take that Toledo exit, though I honestly expected one of them to just end up shooting the other.
World Handball Championship - THE FINALS in Other Sports ·
Well, if you're happy now, I suppose we can call it a win, even if the whole process was a bit of a headache for me. Let's just lock this thread down. Honestly, once you've finished repeating those same old, tired clichés everyone already knows by heart, I figure there isn't much left to say. It feels like the perfect way to wrap things up here.

🤣

I think I have Stockholm syndrome. I used to absolutely despise the man, but now? I guess I’ve grown to love him.

Is it actually possible that I’ll find myself rooting for the Frenchmen again after last year's final? 🙏

If they don't get their act together early on, they might end up in some serious trouble.

We were all just sitting around waiting for Šarić to finally find his rhythm, and then... this happened.
Honestly, what was that offensive display? Just pure nonsense. It’s like they aren't even listening to coaching anymore. And don't even get me started on the goalkeepers—they might as well have been standing there for decoration. If the refs actually made the right calls on those close plays, we might be looking at a different result, but...

It’s almost too predictable at this point; ever since 2012, excluding the host nation at the Olympics, they always seem to land in the finals. I mean, sure, you can't really argue with Spain or Denmark, but still...

dustypanther6 said:Keep in mind that all those missed shots by Karačić only happened because he somehow managed to get through one-on-one at the perimeter—either right as he raised his hand or just after—all while Kopljar was busy stalling the ball flow with those ridiculous feints and dropping it to the floor for the umpteenth time. If it weren't for him, those misses would have turned into fast breaks for Poland 22:24. In my opinion, the kid is the only one out there playing with any real grit, so credit where it's due. Blaming him seems pretty unreasonable to me.

Besides, the guy has an incredible crossover and makes great passes to the big men. 🙏 🙏

Those misses were from six meters, solo, and completely uncontested. If it were just one shot, fine—sure, anyone can miss. I agree with the rest of the post.

I’m pointing the finger directly at Karačić. I mean, how do you even concede a goal like that when you have a two-man advantage? It’s just inexcusable.

It’s a bit like how that saved penalty was essentially the turning point against Brazil.

Just some quick math for everyone:
The Poles should probably feel pretty proud that they were the first nation to move on. The second one fell against an Arab nation—one of the home teams.
The first French and Spanish nations can also claim some pride. Meanwhile, the fourth Scandinavian nation, located just below the main three on the map, is left feeling a bit diminished, which I suppose makes the other three Scandinavians feel a little downcast too. Then there's the pride found within the former Yugoslavian states, who were knocked out by the second Slavic nation and the absolute powerhouse of handball, though they certainly fought hard until the end.

That makes five World Cups total. We’re looking at number six in 2017 since the tournament is being hosted there. And maybe—just maybe—that’s when Tito finally calls it quits.

Kenneth Clark18 said:Goluža was a decent player, but nothing more.

The problem is, the guy is just naturally dim-witted—there’s really no fixing that kind of lack of intelligence. Add a massive ego and an arrogant attitude to the mix, and you have what I consider the worst possible combination.

Lino took over the national team right when they were staring down the barrel of total collapse. Anyone who remembers the disaster against the Mexicans and Ukraine back in the day knows exactly what I'm talking about.

That said, I should point out one thing: this current roster isn't even remotely close to the quality we saw during the Athens games.

My previous comment already implied that.
We actually played Ukraine in 2001, not 2002. Not that it matters much; I'm not interested in being pedantic.

You have to give Slavko credit for that 2003 semifinal run and the 2004 final performance at pivot, not to mention that nerve-wracking seven-meter shootout when everything was on the line. As a coach, though, he exhausted his credibility a long time ago. Way back in London, I suppose.

This whole experiment has dragged on far too long. Personally, I think he should stay through the end of the Rio cycle (accepting the inevitable disappointment, regardless of the stage) just so we can finally say thank you.

I mean, there were times when games against teams like Poland didn't even register on our radar. We weren't losing like this back then. Sure, in 2011, the Danes and even the local Swedes left us right where we are now, but we never suffered exits this pathetic. We haven't been worse than this since 2002—though anyone who masochistically watched the games back then knows exactly what I mean. It’s an ongoing agony. A total reset is probably necessary.

Where are all those talented young wingers like Caleb and the rest of that crew? The ones who were actually winning gold in their age groups recently? Wouldn't that be what you call actual "Youth Development" with a capital Y, rather than what we're seeing now? Where is the grit? Why aren't we seeing those decisive plays that used to turn matches in our favor? What even is this?
