Megan Wilson8 said:It’s a mess—half of it is in my name, half goes to my aunt and uncle. Or rather, since my uncle passed away too, I’m stuck wondering if it actually belongs to his wife or his son now. My grandfather split everything into quarters, but my grandmother actually signed her portion over to me while she was still around. She had a life estate on it, so technically, everything is still legally tied up in her name.

Alright, they finally blinked and agreed to cover half the costs—which is something—but I’m still stuck in a massive bind here. Honestly, sitting around waiting isn't really an option for me; I’ve got enough on my plate dealing with a bunch of hysterical clients who won't stop blowing up my phone and breathing down my neck.

Just for the sake of clarity—does this affect my aunt's account too? She lives in Mexico, but she holds dual citizenship and spent a huge chunk of her career working here in the States, so she’s actually drawing a pension from the US.

If I understood this life estate thing correctly—was that essentially a contract?

The reason I told you to "just be at peace"—if I'm reading your previous posts right—is because it sounds like they don't want to rent the house, sell it, or even buy you out. If the collector can't recover the funds through liquid assets—since Grandma doesn't have any regular income left—they'd likely move to seize the property itself. That would trigger a forced sale under the law... Sure, losing the house is a huge negative, but at least you wouldn't have to stress about utility bills or collectors anymore, and you'd walk away with whatever cash is left over from the sale.🤷

Of course, they could theoretically target my aunt's income here, but they won't be able to touch anyone else's, because the judgment isn't filed against any of you.
The collection process only targets the specific person named in the legal action.

As for those people freaking out on the phone? That's an easy fix—hanging up works 100% of the time.😳

Megan Wilson8 said:Look, I’m talking about the principal amount—we weren't trying to dodge anything... My real question is, do you actually have to pay the entire balance upfront just to stop an attachment of assets? Or can you cut a deal and settle it in parts? Most likely, they'll demand the whole thing at once...

If the garnishment is specifically targeting the bank account, they can't go after anyone else's accounts—just the one at the bank. So, honestly, just try to relax for now. 😁
My advice?
Just stay quiet and wait. Don't go poking the bear...

Is the house still under the bank's name too?

Megan Wilson8 said:Let me try to break down my situation a bit more clearly for you all....

Here’s the deal: I inherited half of a house from my grandmother—so I own half, and my aunt and uncle each own a quarter.

Nobody actually lives in the house (because my aunt refuses to rent it out), and even though we switched to flat-rate utilities, we’ve still racked up $500 a massive debt for gas, and now we're facing a garnishment.

I am completely broke because I’m a student, working at an SC for peanuts just to stay afloat, and paying my own way. I don't have the cash to cover this. As for the others involved? They're playing dumb, and getting them to agree to anything is impossible.

I am literally stuck choosing between borrowing money to pay this debt or borrowing money to pay my tuition. If I don't pay my tuition, I'm kicked out of school, and my first installment is already falling through—so this is basically my last resort before everything falls apart.

My question is: can they actually garnish my wages from the SC, and is there any point in filing a complaint or appealing anywhere....

Also, does the garnishment apply to just one owner of the property, or everyone? Can someone explain how this process actually works...

And one more thing—this isn't directly related to the garnishment, but I can't focus on anything else right now—is there any way I can force them to buy me out? This house is nothing but a millstone around my neck. They won't rent it, they won't sell it, and they won't pay the bills..... I'm just sitting here watching my tiny income—which barely covers my basic living costs anyway—get eaten alive. I don't want to just give it away either, since it's the only thing I have and I'd be literally out on the street without it....

To start with—who is the levy actually being filed against?
I'm assuming it would be on your grandmother... or is it someone else?
Just wondering... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Wait... so if I'm following you correctly—you're saying you won't take action because this wasn't sent via private message?
Seriously?

Is this still meant to be a community forum? Are we not supposed to bring complaints to the admins here? At least that’s how it used to work... though I guess I don't know if that's still the case 🤷
I'm not being snarky, I am genuinely asking...
Given that one of your colleagues recently decided to start closing any threads she didn't personally like, maybe she's decided to repurpose this PDF too, since it's entirely possible she finds him "unpleasant and provocative"? 🤷

So you've been given concrete details about who is using which sockpuppet account, and you're just going to sit on it because it didn't hit your inbox via DM?!
Did I get that right?
Fine... if that's the rule, I'll just move everything over to a PM and send it to you there.
Please tell me you aren't going to claim that only certain people have the exclusive privilege of sending you DMs... 🤷

Moving on then—what about these moderators you mentioned?
And what about their fake accounts?
And all the nonsense they've been pulling using those clones?
Have you looked into that? Or does that also need to be handled via PM?
...though I don't see the point in moving it to a PM, since these are the very moves that are dictating our behavior here...

...not to mention these are the same mods that you backed up just over a month ago!
In the name of solidarity, I suppose...
Just wondering... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
...so, what’s the plan for all those users who were banned under the "clone account" label, especially now that you've pointed them out?
What kind of disciplinary action are we looking at for the mods who actually set up these clones just to run things like their own little private sub-forums?

Look, I’m not coming at this with any delusions about everyone being "equal," but this whole situation has bubbled to the surface, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one sitting here wondering what's going on.
It felt like back then, rules were being made up on the fly—like you were just deciding how thick a cardboard box should be based on whatever whim hit you—and now I'm left wondering where the actual principles are supposed to be.

And please, just don't shut this thread down—we have a right to ask questions and get some real answers.
I honestly don't know what to call her... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Daniel Ward87 said:The thread was nuked because she wrote a ton of stuff without providing any actual proof, even admitting herself that she just threw it all together quickly and didn't feel like digging further.

It's wild to me that you're questioning why I'm asking for evidence when you saw everything she wrote. She made plenty of claims without showing a single shred of proof, relying entirely on lines like "I have screenshots," "Do I really have to show them?" and "Tupelo bragged about it herself outside the forum." You can't expect the admins to act on that. What would you say if I told you I had screenshots proving life on Mars? Would you actually ask to see them, or would you just take my word for it?

Also, who's making excuses about the screenshots being fake? I mentioned that the admins have already dealt with users trying to submit Photoshopped Presidential messages to get others in trouble. I'm speaking generally here; it has nothing to do with her specifically. I haven't received any screenshots, and as far as I know, neither has Nice. All I know is that threads filled with these kinds of "claims" will be deleted and the users banned if there isn't tangible proof provided.

As for taking action, based on what? Just because she *said* she has evidence?

Look, if she couldn't just send a standard private message and had to use a link instead—and I can't even open links here--😢
darkić, please, get it together.🙂

Why did I get hung up on her specific claims?
Well, I mentioned that most of what she's saying is stuff I've already heard before. I didn't really dive into an argument about it because, for some parts, I don't have the receipts, and for others, I just didn't want to drag a third party into the mess. Plus, in a lot of cases, I just didn't think it was worth the energy to type out a response, knowing exactly how those threads usually end up.🤷

Furthermore, who’s claiming screenshots are fake? I already noted that administration has dealt with users trying to submit Photoshopped Presidential messages to demand punishments and things like that. I’m just playing it safe regarding this; it has nothing to do with her specifically. I haven't received any screenshots myself, and as far as I know, neither has Nice. What I do know is that any threads making these kinds of "claims" will be deleted and the users banned if there isn't tangible evidence provided.

This isn't about a user accusing XY-on; this is darkić pointing the finger at Nice and explicitly mentioning their mutual messages, where darkić claims Nice was sending her links to stuff from the fashion section. (And you're still suggesting she should have sent a private message reporting it 🤣).
The reality is that people saw the thread before it was wiped, and quite a few of us actually got direct messages about it, which I've already pointed out... basically, Pandora's box has been opened, if you want to put it that way. 🤷
So, what now?

By deleting the thread, you're actually just creating the perfect environment for conspiracy theories to grow.
Since she posted this publicly, you should either ask darkić to provide actual screenshots right here in the thread, or just hit her with a month-long ban... apply it to her, to me, or anyone else who ever does this.
If I were in Nice's shoes, I would be demanding that you restore the thread and prove it... nobody wants to be left looking guilty if they haven't done anything wrong!
It started out in public, so clean it up in public—do it for your own sake, if you're innocent and have nothing to hide. 🤷

What I really want to know is: what happens if this is true and she really was sending those things?
You have the "tools" to verify it...
..just like you have the tools to check if everything said about the mods creating piles of clone accounts and all the favoritism is true.
Do you actually plan on using any of those "tools," or are you just going to sit there waiting for more evidence?
I honestly don't know what to call her... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
...because when you don't know how to dodge specific questions (the ones that make you uncomfortable), you just resort to saying: "that's off-topic" 🤣
The reality is, this whole thing is about the mess this administration is making and how it's spreading, but I get the feeling that title might bother you guys, since you've all suddenly become so polite... 😳

I think there are quite a few of us here who actually got a direct message from @darkićin and her "blessing" to talk about this publicly. It’s not exactly a secret, either—it stems from that thread she started regarding forum exceptions...
...which you guys were all too quick to delete.
Why?
Do you honestly believe you can hide things and that most of this nonsense won't be seen? 🤣
And why is Daniel Ward87 now asking her to send proof via private message? Why is he trying to cover this up?
Trying to justify it by claiming the screenshots are fake? Great idea!
...if they really are fake, then prove it to her and to all of us right here so we can see she's just being dishonest 🤷
That's what people usually do—they try to "clean up" their reputation in public once someone calls them out in public...
...assuming they actually have a clean reputation to begin with, of course ☕

Just to be clear, most of what was written in her thread isn't even news to me; if anything, I could probably add quite a bit more to it😬. Honestly, I'm just fascinated by how some people can't see the moment their arrogance turns into pure stupidity 😍🤣

Oh, and one more thing—I'm curious to know what steps you've taken, or plan to take, to investigate all of this, what the sanctions will look like, and when we can expect an update? :zainteresirana forumašica:🍿

The enforcement is being handled through the Federal Reserve and became legally binding back on October 25, 2012.

The real question here is whether this person already has other outstanding enforcement orders against them. If they do—well, you probably won't see a dime of your money until everyone else ahead of you in line gets paid first.🤷

Besides, everyone complains about how expensive America is, but does AI in other countries actually offer more bang for your buck? Not really. If you look at it from that angle, you aren't gaining much besides a sense of being "trapped" by the costs. It seems a bit pointless to commit to a whole trip just to end up unimpressed, lying by a pool eating crispy skin.

Then again, maybe I'm just wrong.

There's really nothing like that feeling of true relaxation—you know, when you're stretched out on a lounge chair, thinking to yourself how much you'd love a drink, "but man, it's too much work to walk to the bar...", especially when the bar is still like ten feet away from you. 🤣

The letter is demanding payment, but get this—they don't mention a deadline to pay, nor do they give me a window to file an appeal. It’s 2013 now... am I allowed to fight this based on the statute of limitations for the debt itself, or maybe even the statute of limitations for the enforcement order?
EDIT: Turns out the letter is actually from a law firm that just slapped a notary's heading under their own logo.

Well, if they haven't taken any action at all during those five years, then it should be past the statute of limitations.

Justin Harris12 said:If you ask me, Tyndalla and rustydrifter10 should be stripped of their admin roles immediately. We need to keep Strilet on the team because he actually provides quality oversight; sure, he might be a bit strict sometimes, but at least you can actually have a conversation with him. rustydrifter10 just doesn't have the right temperament—she’s way too overbearing, shuts down any real discussion, and constantly hands out penalties where an admin shouldn't even be getting involved. Let me remind everyone here: an admin is supposed to act as a supervisor for the moderators and oversee the overall health of the forum, not behave like a low-level moderator by handing out cards for things like spam, trolling, or off-topic posts, which I see happening all the time, often without any justification. On top of that, Tyndalla is basically useless when it comes to actually addressing user inquiries.

As far as I'm concerned, that question for administration thread should never have been closed. All those minor questions being asked were perfectly valid, and honestly, opening a whole separate topic just to deal with them was incredibly stupid, truly stupid.🤷

The issue isn't really about him being strict; it's more about how he unconditionally "backs up" rustydrifter10.
Even in this latest situation, you can see him agreeing with the users and acknowledging that rustydrifter10 is in the wrong—yet he still takes her side.
Personally, I have a lot of respect for loyalty, but when people start throwing shade at you just because you're being loyal, and you end up looking like the bad guy, then it’s not really loyalty anymore. It's starting to look a bit foolish.

Aaron Harris2 said:In all the years I have been following this community, I have never once—not even once—witnessed you or Striks peddling nonsense or falsehoods. That remains true even today.
It is truly a somber day for this forum when some of our most dedicated moderators and staff members depart. This is an issue that the owner of this platform should reflect upon more deeply, if not view it as a matter of significant consequence.
I sincerely hope that you will both return to shaping the editorial policy of this forum very soon, as that is an honor you have undeniably earned.
Now, I realize this isn't strictly on-topic, so I suppose a penalty is forthcoming, and while there is so much more I could say regarding the actual subject matter, I must adhere to the guidelines we are expected to follow "officially." Under normal circumstances, of course. Hmm...

I mean, can't you guys just start some kind of vote over in the moderator section or... I don't know... something? 🤷

rustydrifter10 said:Look, I am not responsible for what other people decide to type out. I don't control anyone else's keyboard, and I certainly can't be held accountable just because certain individuals refuse to engage in even the most basic, civilized conversation.

I absolutely can, and I certainly am. Look, he originally opened up this platform specifically so he could address questions from our community after everything that went down here. Once he handed the reins over to Strilet and me, we were finally free to run things exactly how we thought was best—and honestly, I think what we’ve accomplished is exactly what needed to happen.

...but you are responsible when all of us who criticize the administration—which basically means criticizing your work—get handed bans that you hand out under the guise of "trolling" (😕). Then, on the flip side, when a group shows up specifically to attack those of us who criticize, they automatically protect you. The worst thing I expect to happen is having my posts deleted.

And if anyone here is actually refusing to communicate civilly—it's you!
If you don't like something, you just delete it.
Take my own example from last week, where you banned me and wiped my post.
Not to mention how you deleted about five of my attempts to quote the question on the main board, claiming it was "unpleasant." 🤦
The truth usually works like this....

As soon as you didn't like what was being said, you nuked the post, regardless of whether it was relevant or not. Like that time you deleted the post where Manchild mentioned his relation to Striks... I mean, seriously? 😕
How do you even justify deciding for someone else whether they should or shouldn't write something like that? Just... wow. 🙄🤣

I think we had a bit of a misunderstanding there—of course you can, especially since you've already got all the right tools at your disposal to make it happen.
If you happened to miss the sentence right after that: The corporate culture here basically tells you that you shouldn't go over your boss's head. It's one of those unwritten rules you just kind of pick up along the way—like how you wouldn't walk into a Starbucks and try to tell the manager how to brew their coffee. You just follow the chain of command and keep things moving smoothly.

Look, if this truly represents your absolute best and you've already hit your ceiling, then I honestly think you're just the wrong people for the job. It’s like hiring a local high school squad to play against the Dallas Cowboys—it doesn't matter how much heart they have if they simply don't have the skill set required for the level. You can't blame the players for being outmatched when the management picked them in the first place.

rustydrifter10 said:It looks like the main topic here is the question of why the questions for administration have been locked down. If you check the most recent post, the reasoning is laid out right there. That said, if anyone is still feeling a bit confused by the explanation, feel free to ask about it here. Just please, let's try to keep the off-topic chatter to a minimum.

The topic here is why those "questions" were locked, but honestly, part of us—or at least me—feels like this thread is just a direct reflection of your inability to handle things as an admin. It feels like you shut it down because lately, it’s become a bit of a hot potato that you just don't know how to manage.

The reason I didn't include that specific part in the headline—or why I'm hesitant to start an entire thread just about it—is honestly just a matter of common courtesy. I don't want to be that person.
People can think whatever they want about me or my reasoning behind these topics, honestly. But let’s be real—nobody actually enjoys reading a harsh critique. It’s uncomfortable. So, I figured I’d soften the edges a bit and frame things this way instead.
If you really feel like we need to start a dedicated thread just to get everyone's take on how the admin team is handling things around here—go ahead and write it.

In my view, rustydrifter10 lacks the fundamental competence required for anything beyond basic moderation. She simply isn't equipped to handle the inherent pressure of an administrative role; she fails to maintain any sense of objectivity, constantly shifting her stance whenever the wind changes direction. It’s impossible for her to make a firm decision and actually stick to it, which means she can't treat all the forum members with the consistency that such a decision demands. Her responses to posts are incredibly selective; she tends to ignore anyone offering actual substance, choosing instead to focus on trolls or jokes—even when those comments are directed at her personally—under the convenient excuse that, as an admin, she isn't obligated to engage.

As for the topic itself, if it were being moderated properly, it might actually yield something worthwhile. As it stands now, it’s better off being locked, because it’s doing nothing but generating an endless stream of garbage.

I'm with you on that.
rustydrifter10 was more than just a solid asset, but being a great soldier doesn't automatically make someone a great leader—and her performance definitely proves that point.

William Bennett53 said:I believe it is a missed opportunity that we won't have a dedicated question for administration section, and I truly hope this changes eventually; however, I am not at all regretful about moving away from the kind of chaos we used to see in those threads.

The process, in my estimation, could and perhaps should function as follows:
1. A user submits a question (the question must be submitted in their own name, remain specific rather than general, theoretical, or rhetorical, and clearly state whom it is directed toward).
2. The administration responds within a reasonable timeframe (providing an answer that is specific, concise, and clear).

And that is all there is to it.

In short, questions ought to be actual questions, not a platform for endless debate with the administration—or what we have been witnessing lately: heated arguments between certain individuals or factions in conflict.
The user receives the space to ask their question, and the administration holds the responsibility to provide an answer, provided the inquiry meets the aforementioned criteria.

Generalities, asking on behalf of others, arguing out of disagreement once an answer has been provided, reposting the same questions in special PŽK threads after they have been closed, using clone accounts to circle back to previous questions, allowing outside PŽK specialists to linger here, or seeking a second opinion (such as demanding another administrator's input because the first answer wasn't favorable, specifically requesting a male or female admin, or appealing to an admin because a supermoderator's response was unsatisfactory...) should all result in the immediate removal of the thread and, without exception, disciplinary action.

Now, I realize I might sound a bit authoritarian, but I am convinced this is the only way this section can function effectively. Any deviation from this structure inevitably leads to the absolute mess we dealt with until recently.

Recently, a colleague from a sub-forum called me out for ignoring a question he had posted in the Q&A section. He was right, of course; I didn't respond. It wasn't because I wasn't reading the PŽK, but rather because his inquiry got lost in a storm of spam and trolls that was blowing through the questions while two groups of users continued their feud there. We simply don't need that. That is why I hope that if—or when—this section reopens, things will not revert to the old ways. If the administration (and the boss) decide that questions cannot be managed this way or that such a section would be counterproductive, I would much rather see it remain closed than see it descend into total mayhem again.

I agree that’s how it ended up looking, but honestly—who is actually at fault here?

.....leads us right back to the mess we had recently.

Everything starts out totally normal, then suddenly it devolves into who’s sleeping with who, who’s best friends with whom, who wants to grab coffee, who won't share pics of their kids, whose dad is tougher, who's better in bed... And to make sure there's a predictable ending—everyone just gets told their complaints are baseless, they're all just trolls, this is pointless, case closed.

How many actual appeals have been resolved lately in favor of the users?
That's if we ignore the moderator complaints and just accept the assumption that they're all invalid because we never get to see the "real story" behind them. 😬
And what about the people who specifically asked to be permabanned just so they wouldn't have to deal with the stress, only to be denied? Not a single explanation for that has ever made any sense.

There have been permabans and threats of partial bans for anyone who thought they were right, especially when admin decided the conversation was over. Same goes for those month-long, highly questionable bans where the discussion just ends because admin decides they've heard enough, regardless of whatever arguments the banned users actually had.

That’s exactly it—you already know how this is going to play out.
That’s why I posted over on the "Questions" board, just to see if the admin was getting ready to lock it down. As soon as I noticed how much leeway they were giving certain people, and seeing how part of the admin team is basically playing favorites right alongside them.

Man, it’s so obvious how this whole thing works. I could practically smell it coming weeks ago on a thread that's been dragging on for nearly two years now.🙄
And of course—they deleted that post too. I’m assuming they flagged it as "uncomfortable" or "provocative" as well.☕

How many appeals have actually been resolved in favor of the users lately?
If we set aside the complaints against specific mods and just accept the idea that they're all baseless—since we never actually get to see the background info.😬

Zero.
It’s honestly pretty hard to believe that absolutely everyone is complaining for no reason, every single time.

redtiger53 said:I don't really have time for forum debates, so I'll just say this—I'm not involved in tourism, nor do any of my close associates intend to be.

I suppose subjectivity is always a factor here. For instance, designer clothing feels expensive to me, just as it does to most people, but you can't objectively claim it's overpriced; it's just that "it's expensive to me." I doubt Hugo Boss is going to drop their prices just because we think so; if sales are steady, they won't care. I guess the same logic applies to everything else. I'm not saying this covers the entirety of the American travel industry, but there are certainly those who fill their capacity at whatever price is asked. In those cases, there isn't much room to argue about objective costs when all we really have is our own subjective impression.

I definitely agree that "expensive" is a pretty subjective thing. But since you brought up Hugo Boss—you're spot on. The distributors for the US market refused to lower prices, and look how that turned out for them a while back.😁

I've never seen the community treated with such blatant disrespect. It feels like everyone's complaints and concerns are just being brushed aside—it's like everything we write here just gets dismissed without a second thought.

Nica said:And because of that, it’s not suitable for a massive thread, which is why it was locked. I don't see what else there is to discuss here, and there's no point in giving you guys space just to bicker; you'll end up getting warnings, eventually banned, and then the "evil admins" will be blamed all over again because you couldn't control yourselves from provoking one another.

This is nothing but a pile of lies!
The whole "bickering and handing out warnings" thing only ever happens exclusively when people start criticizing how the administration handles things—and lately, that's almost always been directed at you.
If you look at my profile, you can see the full history of your warnings issued there... and in every single one of those posts, there was criticism regarding your work.
The reason for the warnings is trolling, of course 🤣

There were times you’d delete stuff whenever you didn't like what people were saying to you, so the users revolted, and then you started handing out warnings to shut them down.
Then it turned out that even warnings wouldn't silence people from telling you what they thought about you and your job—so you started both issuing warnings and deleting posts.
When you realized that neither worked to stop the "backlash," you decided to just lock the thread.
You didn't lock the thread because you care about our warnings or bans; you did it because that way, all the dissatisfaction with you and your management gets concentrated in one spot—which just makes these "outbursts" happen more frequently.
So you decided to "thin them out" this way.

You weren't the one who opened the "question" threads; Anderson did, and that specific thread was meant to show a "new direction"... sure, time shows that direction has gone completely off the rails, especially with you running the show, but if he's the one who opened it, you can't just shut it down.
Basic professional etiquette tells you not to go "over the head" of your superior.

And that thread isn't a mess because of "malicious users"; it's a mess because of poor administration and the fact that you've completely lost your way (if you want my honest opinion).
I figured out your intention to lock the thread almost two weeks ago—as soon as you let a topic turn into a troll fest (and sometimes you even help it along), you're just clearing the field so you can write a post claiming everything has become unmanageable—that's your modus operandi.
I actually wrote that to you in the thread, and you quickly deleted it.
Just like how you gave me a warning last week and then deleted your own post, or the five attempts I made on the KSB to grab a screenshot of that post.

Two guys at my company set up protected accounts without any issues using the seizure notice before the deadline even hit.

As for that other point, it's true. The so-called payroll statement gets handed to the worker even when there's no money, simply because that's what the law demands. And according to the law, that statement counts as a legal seizure document.
The real issue is that some employers refuse to hand them over, and absolutely nobody reports them for it.

The deadline to pay wages is the 15th of the following month, but if there's zero cash in the bank, the deadline to provide that statement is the last day of that same month.

It's easy to just sit there, claim nothing can be done, and then do absolutely nothing about it.

It feels like things shifted a bit this year—I know for a fact they used to just unhook them back in the day.

It’s honestly the easiest thing in the world to just sit back, claim that nothing can be done, and then use that as an excuse to do absolutely nothing at all.

You've got a point there... It’s just that you always have to keep one eye on the inspectors breathing down your neck, and let's be honest, not everyone is cut from the same cloth. 🤷

ruggedmaker2 said:Actually, you can set up a protected account before the garnishment even starts, per the regulations regarding seizures of monetary assets.
All you have to do is take a copy of the notice or the court order—whatever paperwork you got showing that a seizure is imminent—down to the FIN.

If the seizure kicks off before you get that protected account sorted, they're going to drain everything from your current checking account. Then you’re stuck playing a game of bureaucratic hide-and-seek for a few days trying to get it back. They always eventually refund it, but man, it is such a massive headache. You need nerves of steel and way too much free time.
It's much safer to just open the protected account beforehand.

Haha—honestly, those ladies over at FIFA usually just brush you off anyway. Most of the time, they’ll tell you to just come back once the actual seizure hits. 😁
It’s one thing to talk about how things should work on paper, but honestly, when you're actually out there doing the work, reality hits a lot differently.

ruggedmaker2 said:Look, you aren't out there buying some official form or anything. It’s on your employer to cough up those statements proving they haven't paid you what they owe.
Once you've got those papers in hand, you take them straight to FIFA and they'll walk you through the whole process.
Honestly, if I were you, I'd probably just give FIFA a call first to get the full rundown on how this works.

This is one of those absolute legal nonsense moves that just drives me up the wall. Honestly, if an employer actually intended to pay you a fair wage, they would have just done it in the first place. It feels like they’re just adding layers of red tape to justify being cheap. 🤣

PS: I’m just being sarcastic, because honestly, I've suspected for quite a while now that JPMorgan Chase and certain law firms are playing a very cozy little game together 🙂. My conclusion? You might as well forget about filing an objection; it’s probably better to just pay up.

I’m more than convinced about that myself—the request was filed on May 14th, yet JPMorgan Chase didn't issue the decision until May 27th... funny how that works, right? 🤣
They're lightning fast when it comes to decisions like this, yet they leave us hanging for two whole weeks. 😁

ruggedmaker2 said:Look, if they have a final court judgment, the seizure isn't illegal.
A creditor has every right to go after the money they are owed.
Seizures are carried out based on credible documentation, and if AT&T has that paperwork, they are perfectly within their rights to start seizing her funds.
AT&T has no clue whether her deposits are a paycheck, child support, or something else entirely.

What she can actually do is head down to her bank and set up a protected account specifically for the funds that are legally exempt. That way, her protected income goes there, and she can actually access it. Anything else—the non-protected stuff—has to go into a regular checking account, and that's what will get hit by the seizure.

True, but she can't actually open that protected account until the garnishment is already in motion, and since alimony and social assistance are exempt from seizure, there's a gap there.
Plus, the bank can clearly see the transaction codes for her deposits. If they happen to accidentally "seize" those protected payments during the process, the collector is supposed to return them... which, in my experience, never actually happens.
That part right there? That's illegal.
