We didn't bother with any fancy cake decorations. I just arranged for them to be delivered on trays with lids and set them straight on the tables. Honestly, I hadn't even considered there were other ways to style them. 😬

Besides, if we're talking about that price point and flavor profile, I think those pastries from the bakery in Aspen are pretty much in the same league—people around here seem to rave about them on this thread.

Caught them at a wedding recently. They were actually decent.👍

With my friends, this whole thing didn't even start until they were already seated at the restaurant and settled in for the heavy drinking. I assume people at the cocktail hour tend to hold back a bit before they arrive at the venue, mostly because they still have to drive over to the church and then to the restaurant later.

I haven't stayed at that hotel myself, but I have friends who went to a wedding there where they had an open bar at the start of the night. They ended up losing their minds over the bill later on. 😢

I can't even begin to imagine the damage when the bar stays open all night long...

The guy already pointed out that the price covers the drinks.

Which sniper? 🤷

Could someone be a saint and drop a link? We’re heading out today, and I’d love to double-check anything else we might have overlooked before we go.😕

ironrider8, what city are we even talking about here—Indianapolis? I’d probably just move your post over there. This thread's got DJs, videographers, and wedding venues; it doesn't really fit this topic.

We were thinking about grabbing some cupcakes... maybe. I just need to hunt down some cool "decorations" and figure out a vibe. Cakes are honestly the way to go because you can go wild with the toppings and styling, but what can I even do with these? We were actually planning on getting the top floor specifically just so we'd have plenty of room for slicing everything up. 🤷

That’s pretty much standard. Usually, above the cupcake tiers, there’s a dedicated layer for the cake—something meant for about 12 people—specifically so the newlyweds can perform the cutting ritual. 😉

Something like this:

That cake looks incredible, Edward Lopez21! Once this wedding wraps up, you absolutely have to post a photo so we can see how they pulled it off 👍

The bakery is $22/lb. We picked some up and they were fantastic. My only gripe is they're a bit of a trek from Washington, D.C. (way out by Central Park), so it's not worth driving all that way just for a taste. We ended up finding them at a few local food festivals, and my godmother actually used them for her wedding... highly recommend 😉

Kicked out of the wedding. Thanks, 😉.

David Thomas362, maybe give mousse a shot. It’s similar to parfait, but I find it much better—more compact. Back when we were catering an event in Chicago, we served mousse on the ground floor and had two layers of parfait upstairs.

I used them for my wedding, and honestly, I have zero complaints. Great value for the money, delicious desserts, they showed up right on schedule, and we didn't even pay until after the reception was over. Highly recommend 👍

Harold Hayes9, welcome to the club.
I get the frustration, believe me. But do us all a favor: dial back the drama. It’s exhausting reading posts where every single sentence ends in a barrage of exclamation points and question marks. And please, lose the bolding and the ALL CAPS for such short bursts. It's overkill. Thanks.

We had those pastries from Mouse too... incredible value for the quality, honestly delicious. 👍
Hardly anyone even touched them, though. There was enough left over after the wedding to last us the entire week.

We had chocolate mousse, strawberry-chocolate parfait, and pistachio-hazelnut parfait.

Ladies, does anyone have a direct contact email for Pimpinella Catering? I need it for business, and this Yahoo address I found online isn't working.
Please PM me.
If you have any other recommendations, let me know. I’m looking specifically for finger foods—nothing served out of those cheap chafing dishes.
Thanks! 🙂

Sun Microsystems, we have a dedicated thread for sales. Read the rules before you post anything on there.

I always preferred the Mus over the Absum stuff, though I'm not positive if they even carry that fruit anymore. It should be somewhere near that price point.
I picked up the cake at Walmart; highly recommend it. 👍
