Webber and Grosjean are starting 5th on the grid because of gearbox issues.
No rain for now, though they say it looks pretty likely during qualifying...
Tomorrow should be clear skies..

exactly right 😉

With an Athlon running at 2.1GHz, there’s just no way... I'm assuming we're talking about a mod here, because if you want to pull off 250 on Vulgaris, you're going to need a seriously beefy rig...

Good grief, man... being this wrong and still doubling down on it... I almost have to respect the sheer audacity 🙏
If I told you that I used to run dual GTX 275s, a Phenom II X4 clocked at 3.8GHz, two hard drives, five fans, and a whole mess of other gear on a mere 535W power supply—with just 36A on the 12V rail, no less—you’d probably tell me I’m delusional and insist I need at least an 850W unit just to stay afloat. But hey... it worked..
So please, for the love of everything, try to hold back on the arguing until you actually take a second to look up how much power modern components actually pull.
Here is a decent little starting point for you;

Well, looking at the whole picture, except maybe for the gap between 400 and 600W $47, I don't know, I really can't be bothered to go check...
First off, you can't just compare a budget Codagen 400W unit to something from Seasonic or Enermax of the same wattage. It’s not even close—it's night and day.
It's true that having extra headroom is always a good idea, but in his specific case, if he actually drops a 5870 in there, a 380W Seasonic will handle it without breaking a sweat.
So now the components are "too powerful," is that it? Go ahead, look up the actual TDP of this AMD Athlon II 245 and those older 65nm generation chips.

quoting;

"component power is proportional to current and voltage"

I honestly have nothing to say to that, and frankly, I'm losing my will to even continue this argument until you take a moment to educate yourself on the absolute basics.

just grab a beefier one... you won't have any headaches down the road when you're using it long-term or if you decide to throw in more components later.

some guy above mentioned it's only a 100W difference, but honestly, I can't help but laugh at that. sure, everything is optimized and parts are what they are, but power draw doesn't just magically drop; it actually goes up because modern components are getting more powerful, and component wattage is directly proportional to current and voltage.

so yeah, get the bigger unit and stop listening to people who tell you that you can run a high-end rig on a starter chassis meant for a budget commuter car and claim it'll hold up.

No offense intended, but you are completely wrong here.
600W for that specific setup 🙏
Here are two tracks that actually deserve some serious attention, even though they don't get nearly enough airplay;

The Alan Parsons Project - The Raven

Supertramp - Fool's Overture

btw.
Mad World? How on earth is that considered unknown? And specifically the Gary Jules version... if anything, it’s just an underrated cover of the Tears for Fears original. It's honestly undeservedly overlooked... if it wasn't for the movie soundtrack, it probably wouldn't even be known at all...

We could go on forever debating this, but yeah, it’s just common sense to use paste...

Noise levels... well, it goes from loud to dead silent, but honestly, I couldn't care less about that. If you're looking at staying under 500-600 rpm up to about 300W, there are plenty of reviews out there to check out...

The cables are pretty long, too.

I guess this will be my next power supply purchase. I've had some bad luck with those Strider 750/850 units and some older 87+ models, but this XFX deal is actually a steal for the price...

I've ventured into other waters before 😁
Anyway, it’s about time I swapped out this 4830 for something a bit more modern... I was thinking maybe picking up two 460s and just tearing it up in SLI (on a crossfire board 😁), I'm getting pretty tired of all this lag...
Does Fermi still run as hot as the previous generations?
And while I have you, what's the word on XFX power supplies... how's the noise level and the cable length?

Thomas Martin4 said:Personally, I’d probably go with the ATI card... though honestly, they're all basically the same junk... a Corsair CX400W or even a Corsair 430W would be plenty for that setup... and yeah, you could actually play some newer titles... just if you don't mind me asking, what's the price tag on that GPU? Because for about $533 my choice would have been the GTX 460 1GB.

Where on earth can you find a 460 1GB for $533?
gentlepuma96 said:I remember when they showed up at the beach while we were hanging out there...🤣

They don't look particularly fit for cycling to me. Honestly, I think anyone who hits the pedals at least three or four times a week could leave them in the dust...

It was actually pretty funny seeing a bike with "POLICE" written on it.👍

But nowadays, everyone just hangs out at the pier drinking... back then, we used to hang out in the park or around the little garden areas.😁
Anyway, I know one of these guys who’s been riding for a while and wouldn't be easily outpaced, and I doubt the other one is exactly a heavy-set guy either...
Down here in Columbus, you see them on bicycles too, and man, if they're on a bike, you're definitely going to have a hard time shaking them... but honestly, those folks in cars, on motorcycles, or just walking? They don't pose any real threat at all 😁

I really don't feel like typing out a whole biography right now; if anyone actually cares, just go look it up on Wikipedia.
Given the release of this new (absolutely brilliant) single, I think it’s high time we started a thread dedicated to a true musical icon like Lady Gaga.
I keep seeing people trying to draw comparisons to Lady Gaga, though I honestly have no clue why... that woman could only ever be cleaning her sequins.🙏

Lady Gaga - Joe's Diner (01/2010)

Maybe they actually managed to push it to 4GHz on stock settings, but honestly, that’s probably just for some quick validation or a few 2D benchmarks... I highly doubt it would stay stable for any real workload... and don't even get me started on the temperatures 😁
Regarding coolers, if you pick up something like a Scythe Ninja 2 or a Kabuto, you could probably overclock it to 3.6-3.8GHz for 24/7 use and call it a day..
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
I wouldn't recommend overclocking an i5...
Overclocking (Main Thread) in Desktops ·
- the power supply is more than enough even if you decide to go for some serious overclocking
- honestly, nobody can tell you exactly how far you can push it without some real risk
- just forget about trying to overclock via software... it won't work
- and don't even think about touching this without a better cooler (the Katana is fine if you're staying within the range of$67)
- but first things first, go read a proper guide on overclocking; there's one right here on this forum
