Honestly, you have to fight for that extra three hundred bucks coming at the end of the year. Don't go dragging poor Mr. Sefc through this; his daughters are listening to Marley and the fat president, and apparently, he’s finally relieved that they won't be out there committing felonies anytime soon. 😬

it's all soft now, but will everything just go to the major players, or will the underdogs actually get a slice of the pie?

Forget the underdogs. Why should anyone care if they aren't mainstream? And honestly, if those old groups faded away, who's really to blame?

About 60 percent of all the funds collected end up going to foreign nonprofits, international publishing houses, and overseas film associations—which means a chunk of that money even finds its way to the Ramones.

Take a quick look above at who's actually profiting from those CDs.

How many CDs did you end up burning, and how much music did you download from the web?

I agree with you there, though I don't think it's particularly relevant to this new agreement

I don't have any issues with how the money is distributed, and honestly, I'm starting to see the logic behind the collection process too. As far as the payouts go, they're based on units sold. The collection method is what it is, though I find the way concert revenue is gathered to be incredibly inefficient and frankly quite amateurish.

Exactly. At the end of the day, the artists didn't write or record the music themselves, so why should they be the ones bearing the brunt? Arguing over who gets what feels pointless. If you want to watch movies, pay for them; if you want to listen to the soundtrack, pay for that too. That's just how capitalism works, isn't it?

You could complain about sales tax if you wanted, but honestly, there are a million other things to get worked up about.

Honestly, I think everyone is getting a little too worked up over a situation where there aren't many facts to go on. Everyone seems to be coming for RIAA, even though they’ll see the smallest slice of the pie here. About 75 percent of the revenue is going straight to film guilds, and most of that money is heading overseas anyway. Whatever is left for RIAA will just be distributed based on Airplay and album sales. Is it really RIAA's fault that Tomphson is what sells best in this country? It shouldn't be their problem.
They're all such geeks, staying up until midnight at the earliest. Honestly, that's what scares me.
Could we please be mindful of those of us heading to Carnegie Hall for the Death Disc show this Friday? I would kindly ask that things don't get underway before 10:30 AM.
A band with such a gay name has to be put together by Mexicans and Jews.

I can't wait to see how much I'll actually collect in copyright royalties for that little anti-glare gadget, considering it was basically built from a template anyway. One fifth of 60 percent of zero is still 🤔. If it ends up being more than a couple of bucks, I'll buy a round of drinks worth $33
Oh sure, because talking to them is going to be such a great idea, or maybe I should just go ahead and try to lay a hand on them? 😕

I feel like this forum has started to tolerate too much diversity lately. Someone like Cijo is fine if you want to maintain the illusion of being democratic and open to different opinions, but this has gone way too far 😬

Borg 🤮

Anyway, I just read your review of Gaycade and I noticed you left out quite a few of the insults thrown their way—stuff like "go back to Canada," "play Summer of '69," "Sidaš," or "just so they can get Sidaš," etc.

Heading to Mono tomorrow.
