Mr. Wrong said:Honestly, that "let's go to the beach" comment from Malibu was even more irritating. Since I didn't get to go to the beach that year—just like so many other years before and after—it really rubbed me the wrong way. 🙂

It’s tough when you don't have any family living by the coast to host you...😬

lonebison37 said:Wait, was he actually at the train station or just passing by near the road?
The guy at the station was from Pakistan 😍 and besides looking like this: 😬 he didn't speak a word of English, but man, he had great taste in music. He even wrote down who we were listening to on a little note (from a copied cassette 🙏); I’ve honestly never heard better music in a fast-food joint. Some local stuff of theirs 👍
As for the KFC, I only grabbed a meal there once and it wasn't exactly life-changing, honestly.

Grand Central Station

The top two things that have gone wrong for me in the last half hour:
1. My boss called a meeting for 5:30 PM (the second time in two days!), and I have rehearsal at 7:00 PM. I won't make it home in time for dinner, though maybe I'll grab a quick bite at a 7-Eleven, even if it isn't great.
2. I have to head down to the police station tomorrow morning at 9:30 for an interview.

Work is such a grind.

Kevin Chavez3 said:Oh, right—what's the deal with spelling it "kebap" instead of "kebab"?🤔

I suspect they were just trying to market it as an authentic local American staple and protect the recipe.😬

isn't exactly better than what I recall
was that because of that guy from Iran?

If we're talking about that spot near the train station, I have to mention three crazy things about him.
1. Great flatbread
2. That insane spicy sauce—looks just like honey
3. He actually gave us a pass $5.00 when we were heading back from Omar's. When we mentioned we were just visiting New York City, his only response was, "Well, you've got some good KFC over there," and told us not to worry about paying for the last meal.

How many times can I even type "kebab" in one post?

Is there anything quite as satisfying as eating yourself into a stupor, only to spend the entire night feeling like you have a literal brick sitting in your stomach? I had some KFC near the station in Chicago recently—it was solid. I’ve had great food in Turkey, too, but honestly, no one can touch this local lunatic when it comes to greasy goodness. I’ve even toyed with the idea of opening a franchise in New York City. 😬

Aaaaante, I am just so over all of this

The death of Severina is solely because of this nonsense and every idiot who kept singing it to me when we first met

I can't speak on Subway since I don't touch that vegetarian nonsense. And honestly, anyone claiming KFC is bad deserves to die from food poisoning. You aren't even people; you're just cowards.

David Sullivan44 said:I really should have moved into the West End area between the 1st and the 15th. But since I've been sticking to these new dietary habits, I haven't had much time to scout out the local scene. I definitely missed an opportunity.🙂

Oh, absolutely. One massive burger loaded with onions and peppers could easily lead to 🙏digestive issues: I'm taking Robin Williams6 out for some falafel instead! :killthevegetarians:

Has anyone else been walking through downtown lately? I’m really hoping City Kebab is still open.
Hands down the best spot for a kebab in New York City or even further out. It’s got that perfect vibe for the guys—you eat your meal, and suddenly you're wondering if your girlfriend is heading off to Italy because she's questioning your character.

I once twisted my neck so badly in a dream that I actually had to hit up the ER for a painkiller shot because of a pinched nerve, but THIS 😵

and it isn't even Tuesday yet...🙂

Does it only count if you were bleeding? Or at least suffered a concussion? 😬

If you read a few posts back, I think we agreed that landing hard on the asphalt counts as one of the most basic injuries out there.

Carol Jackson45 said:This actually tops the legendary story of falling off a roller skate while standing upright: I managed to pull a somersault this morning without even falling—and in my sleep, no less. I was stretching my neck, something just went "pop," and now I can't turn my head and I'm stuck wearing a neck brace... 😢

I’d like to nominate this for the Grand Prix of most ridiculous ways to get injured. 🙂

I have an even stupider one.

One morning, I woke up, turned toward the wall, and slammed my head into it with everything I had.

My all-time greatest fails

1. I was riding a cart down a freshly paved road near my grandma's place in Miami Beach. I wiped out hard because my foot got snagged, sliding about 20 yards on my backside. The aftermath? A bruised rear end and three weeks of being unable to sit comfortably.

2. Tried jumping off a tree to impress some girl. The result? Several broken bones in my leg and a month stuck in a cast.

3. Got hit in the head by a rock while swimming at Miami Beach. Out of a hundred million people there, a friend from elementary school manages to hit me. Ended up needing three stitches in my forehead.

4. Hit a tree directly with 4. sleds. Now I'm dealing with a deviated septum and chronic sinus inflammation because of it.

The best injury I ever inflicted. I accidentally stuck a dart right in my buddy's head during a game.

vividcanyon2 said:My top two favorite hockey players of all time:

1. Paul Kariya (LW)
2. Mats Sundin (C) 🙏 🙏 🙂

Since we're already on the subject, let me round out the full lineup—forwards, defense, and goalie:

Miroslav Satan (RW)
Nicklas Lidstrom (D)
Chris Pronger (D)
Tommy Salo (G) 🙏 🙏 (Backup - Martin Brodeur)

It's a shame they didn't pick Kariya for the Olympics. 🙂

Which song would fit this? in Music ·
Robin Williams6 said:the real question is whether anyone would even ask😬
I used to think it might be a fun idea on a site like Reddit, but I gave it a shot and... well, what can you say? When a band is actually this good, you need to give them your full attention, and that’s just not always possible.
The ideal setup would be live music—imagine having someone like Slobodan Nikitović playing right in your bedroom while you request songs on demand.

...honestly, this thread seems meant for people who aren't exactly busy with their romantic lives. What am I even doing here? Good grief.😲

Godfather, from everything I've heard, it sounds like life hasn't exactly been a walk in the park since you went back to being single.

Carol Jackson45 said:My post wasn't meant to be funny; it was supposed to be venting because I had to wake up at 8 AM for work on a Saturday, and it's cloudy too (which, by the way, you noticed yourself). Don't undermine my sense of humor by assuming everything I write is intended to be a joke.🙂

As for everything else, of course it all depends on your perspective. Just as Americans might view Austrians as cold and distant while we see ourselves as warm, wonderful, and spontaneous, they probably view themselves as spontaneous compared to, say, Germans, while seeing us as stubborn and overly loud.

However, you are mistaken if you attribute that specific viewpoint solely to me. For instance, among my friends from Miami, people in New York say we talk too quietly. On the flip side, to New Yorkers, those of us from the South sound like we're shouting constantly. Generalizations stem from a broad perspective rather than just a subjective one.

Given all that, the generalizations mentioned above hold true. If people thought a bit more deeply about where these perceptions originate, perhaps they wouldn't complain about their accuracy quite so much.😉

And I won't eat you alive; I've been frustrated for four hours now, so it's high time I call it a night.🙂

@ Nicholas Perez33, being overly proud of your city or country is irritating regardless of where you actually come from.😁

How can you spot a Miami local on a subway? You just listen for the volume of their voice.

The most common clichés and questions from festive locals in the coastal cities:
1. "Man, who is actually footing the bill for this?"
2. "I don't have a care in the world while I'm sipping coffee; life is perfect living in the most beautiful city on earth."
4. "So, are you rooting for the local favorites or the big city powerhouse?"
5. "Go ahead and cheer for the big city team; I'll stick with my hometown legends."
6. "Isn't it true that things are just better here than back in your neck of the woods?"

And there are plenty more where those came from...
