It’s all just a matter of taste, honestly. Like, at this year's Lollapalooza, there are only about four bands out of 78 that actually grab my attention—Motörhead, Flogging Molly, Social Distortion, and SOAD. You’re looking at this year's Coachella and only one name out of 20 hits the spot for you: Mastodon. The ratio is basically the same. It should be pretty obvious that Coachella wasn't designed specifically to pull people like you in, just like Lollapalooza isn't built for me or anyone else with my vibe...

What you call "A-list" or "B-list" probably means absolutely nothing to me, and vice versa. I mean, sure, some legends like Motörhead are universal, and I guess Nick Cave is alright too, plus Arcade Fire is a pretty big deal...🤷

Lollapalooza tickets are only like three times the price though...

Keeping things pretty low-key here, just another cancellation

I actually just apologized to the guy. I felt bad for not giving him a heads-up about who he was heading out to work with for Ladytron and Tig,\" but honestly, it felt wrong to go behind someone's back to their agents, even if that person is causing all of us trouble. 🤷
Yeah, it sucks, but it’s the truth... we sold about seventy tickets, so we’re looking at maybe a hundred people total...

Once they saw the numbers, the agent and the band asked me to find a smaller, more intimate spot. Luckily, the guys over at local dive bars were cool enough to help us out... I know, I know, sorry for ditching the arena, but this is honestly way better for the band and their small group of die-hard fans here in the States. They decided this was the move.

Larry Morales12 said:Look, I didn't mean they should literally go bankrupt or anything, but they really need a wake-up call. It’s true we can catch some solid bands for cheap right now, but it bugs me how they won't take any risks. Honestly, if they have to bump ticket prices by $50$33 just to land System of a Down, FF, or other heavy hitters
, I say go for it.

The thing is, those massive headliners cost so much that it isn't even about "taking a risk" anymore. It’s more about whether you want the festival to turn into one big concert for a single band plus some cheap filler, or if you want a lineup that actually feels like a cohesive, well-thought-out event...

Personally, I think the second option is way better and smarter for the long haul. Eventually, American festivals will probably get to the point where paying $500k for a headliner is totally normal, but for now, everyone should just be happy we even have this chance. Like I said, seeing great bands for relatively little cash is a win...

Even five years ago, you would've had to pay way more for something like this, not to mention the extra cash for travel and hotels in some huge European city... so yeah, just be patient. Things will balance out eventually. Honestly, things are already way, way better than they were 5 or 10 years ago. 🙂
Kevin Chavez3 said:Plus, that NoMeansNo show in Chicago was basically just promoted through Dave Grohl's constant hype... he's like the ultimate promo guy for them. 😬

It's happening 🙂

hahaha I highly doubt Grohl actually digs NMN... I don't usually bring this stuff up, but seeing him with those wild eyes talking about how Metallica changed his life? Priceless. 😍
I can't remember the last time I actually started a new thread just for a show, but since a good chunk of you guys interested in this stuff usually skip over Jesse Sanchez60's concert threads, I figured I'd just make my own. This felt right.

The legendary Canadian prog-thrash legends Voivod are finally hitting the US for the first time!

Ever since they kicked things off back in '82, these guys have always been chasing something different. They basically took that British heavy metal influence and mashed it up with progressive rock and the hardcore punk explosion that was tearing through North America at the time. That hunger for experimenting is exactly what pulled them out of the pack of typical thrash bands. Plus, their lyrics were on another level—always diving into that classic struggle between humanity and the tech that's trying to take over the world.

They dropped five absolute bangers by the end of the eighties, and honestly, they're all legendary. Nothingface They hit it big commercially, then went on this massive tour across the States. They were actually opening for some bands that were about to completely flip the script on what rock music sounded like. Faith No More I'm here. Ready when you are. Soundgarden.

The nineties were a total roller coaster with people coming and going constantly, but they finally managed to stick with the original lineup through the 2000s. Snake, Piggy I think you might have cut off there. What was on your mind? AwaySo, they sat down with the former Metallica bassist—who’s also a massive fan himself. Jason NewstedLosing Piggy was a massive blow that basically put the band on ice for a while. But after they dropped "Infini" in 2009 as a tribute to him, they finally got back out on the road—and even reunited the original lineup with Blacky on bass and their new guitarist. Dan Mograina Just stepping in to fill the shoes left by the late Piggy.

One of the most legendary bands in Canadian rock history is finally hitting the stage. Even guys like Dave Grohl worship them, so if you’re a fan of Voivod, you seriously can't miss this. It's been decades in the making.

Tickets start at... $40 You can grab them at Dirty Old Shop or Rockmark. They'll be right there at the entrance. $50Doors open at 8:00 PM and the show kicks off at 9:30.

Forget those typical music videos—check out this cool one where... Dave Grohl spent like twenty minutes just talking about why Metallica matters. 🙂
I’ve been quiet for a while, but I can’t stay silent anymore...

Look, guys, please stop trying to compare Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival to Coachella... it just doesn't make sense.

Both festivals have their own vibe, and they're totally different in terms of concept and lineups. They both offer enough variety to hit whatever mood you're in...

I’m sure you don't literally mean they'll "destroy" one another, but saying stuff like that sounds pretty harsh, and honestly, none of us feel that way—it's actually the opposite...

I don't get where all this negativity toward Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is coming from. For a relatively small amount of money, you get to see a ton of incredible bands that would easily cost you at least $50 a ticket if you caught them on their own tours anywhere in the States. If you're into Arcade Fire and Grinderman but can't stand Jamiroquai or Cypress Hill, just skip those sets. I really don't see what the big deal is.🤷

Nah, back in the day he was just an apprentice working for some shady black market guys, but he eventually took everything he learned and turned it into his own successful companies ☕
Ladytron @ The Fillmore, 5/5/2011 in Music ·
Just wondering if this show is actually gonna happen, since the promoter is Arsomnia and not... well, let's just say I'm not sure if they're back in charge yet 🙄
Ladytron @ The Fillmore, 5/5/2011 in Music ·
If I remember right, the promoter went on a total rant after the show in Chicago, blaming the agent and the tour manager for sending over a two-year-old rider. It didn't meet any of the band's technical needs at all. The promoter somehow managed to scramble together enough gear to get through the set, but they wasted hours trying to make it work, which is why everything ended up running way, way late.

And man what a 😲surprise
.
Morgan Palmer2 said:but not with agents from A. Fire or Portishead, right?

Actually, I did work with a Portishead agent, and yeah, I handled some small stuff about six or seven years back. But honestly, that doesn't even matter for this conversation... back then, I didn't even realize they managed Radiohead. I just wasn't really into that kind of industry gossip at the time.

The bottom line is that everyone here is talking way too much and acting like they have all this "insider" info. Just let people do their jobs.

Hey, all my close friends, please stop blowing up my phone. I caught strep from my kid and I'm stuck in bed with a 102 fever. I really don't have the energy to deal with anyone right now, let alone answer three mindless questions at once...

And one more thing: thank God for the common sense I used to raise this kid:

"Yeah, the concert is sold out."

"Yep, that means there aren't any tickets left at all."

"No, seriously, there isn't a single ticket left."

honestly thinking about digging up one more 😬

The show is totally sold out, so I figured I’d just answer the questions people are gonna be hitting me with tomorrow at the venue😳

"Yeah, the concert is officially sold out"

"Yep, that means there aren't any tickets left at all"

"No, seriously—not a single ticket remains"

If you’re planning on hitting the show but haven't grabbed a ticket yet, you better move fast. There are fewer than a hundred left online... honestly, it's a safe bet the concert will be totally sold out by tomorrow.

Definitely my favorite album from 2010, hands down. 🙂

They're touring the US soon... Tobu would've loved it when they played here back in May with Secret Chiefs 3.
