I bet more tickets will pop up tomorrow... looks like they probably sold through the cheap ones already.

It sucks if they're playing at 5 PM to basically seven friends, which is usually what happens... It might make sense once people actually get used to spending the whole day at a festival like Coachella, but right now? Not really. 🤷
Look, festivals have a specific vibe and a target audience. If it’s not your thing, I don't get why you feel the need to just trash it...

If you bought a ticket blindly, honestly, that's on you. Nobody forced you to do that.🤷

It’s more like 12 hours max, honestly. If they head out at 2 AM, they'll be there by early afternoon. They could even pull off a Tuesday show—with digital mixers nowadays, you don't even need much setup time...
this seems like the most logical move given how the tour schedule is laid out 🤷
Benjamin Ruiz60 said:My only real worry is that we might lose some of that vibe if the sound system sucks..

What bad sound?🤷

The last few shows I went to sounded killer, so I don't see why this one wouldn't be the same...
The crew over at The Fillmore needs to step up and book our favorite act, but everyone else is just dragging their feet because they're waiting on some theater group or maybe even folks from the Capitol 🙄

Man, I feel bad about this now 😳.

To be honest, I’m not even sure where you're coming from with this attack on Dada Topić. He’s just a musician who doesn't mean much to me personally—mostly because I was born in the seventies and didn't really get into music until the eighties, so I skipped over almost the entire Yugoslavia era of the 70s. Not something I'm proud of, but no point hiding it...

But seriously, his outbursts and scandals fascinate me every once in a while. Since you clearly aren't involved in all the drama, my only intention was to share the news with everyone else, because that’s basically what these forums are for...

That said, you're right. I messed up by citing that article. It was poorly written and gave an incomplete, and therefore wrong, version of events. It never mentioned that four relatives jumped him as he left the courthouse, or that he probably wasn't even directly responsible for the fight...

This is my apology to Dada Topić 😳.

nahhh, I'm just totally fascinated by how Adolf is still such a beast 🙏

Because this is why I had to dig this thread up from the dead 🙏
amberranger said:Maybe some small indie band shows up, but usually? Not really. I knew a group once that normally charges maybe 10-15K, but they tried to demand 100K just for a one-off gig at a bar.

Once you factor in the hotel, hospitality, travel, and backline, the costs for touring acts jump way up.

The first thing that comes to mind is Sonic Youth. Back in the summer of 2003, they flew all the way from New York for just two shows in Europe (one in Belgrade and some tiny village in Finland)... yeah, stuff like that happens.
amberranger said:Since we're talking about Americans, it’s just not worth anyone flying all the way over to Europe for a single gig.

it wouldn't be the first time either...

I mean, what's $4,000 or $5,000 for flights when you're looking at a $50,000 concert budget? It's basically peanuts.
Dennis Lee87 said:The National are hitting the road, they might...

As far as I know, there aren't any festival tours lined up, and whether they'll show up at one of those massive festivals is still anyone's guess.🤷
Arthur Anderson75 said:Playing a festival gig usually ends up being cheaper than doing a solo show.

🙂

Actually, playing festivals can easily cost you three times more than just booking a standalone gig...
Roger Newman50 said:I’d love to catch The National live.

That kind of vibe is more theater than festival stuff...

Their shows are total spectacles, but back when they hadn't even dropped an album, tickets were way too pricey for anyone who didn't know them yet...

Now that they finally have an album out, prices are definitely gonna skyrocket...

Honestly, this Broadway show is such a total scam, so I'm not even surprised everyone's trashing it...
Man, it's awesome they kept the same dates and we already have them locked in... thanks for the heads up
man 🤣
Who would've thought we'd end up with such a fun topic about Fleet Foxes 😁
Look, for those who haven't caught on yet, the student union isn't set up to just wire $50k or $100k from their accounts to some massive concert agency (especially when half that goes straight into production costs anyway)... they just can't handle that kind of volume.
If you want to move that much cash, you go to the big commercial promoters...

The whole point of the music program at the student center is to be self-sustaining, educational, and accessible to as many people as possible, specifically focusing on students.

Whenever we can pull off a bigger name thanks to a friendship with an agent or a musician, we jump on it. That’s how we’ve managed to bring acts like The National, Butthole Surfers, Cocorosie, Calexico, Lambchop, Bonnie Prince Billy, and The Notwist to town over the last few years—all with discounted fees, which means tickets end up way cheaper here than they would be in the rest of Europe.

Trying to get into a bidding war against two other organizers who are already eyeing Arcade Fire + Fleet Foxes just doesn't make sense...

At the end of the day, all that matters is that the show happens; I don't care who's organizing it. Honestly, someone probably would've brought Anthony to a venue like Carnegie Hall this November anyway, assuming he hasn't bailed on his European tour by then.

So, is anyone actually going to show up for Arcade Fire + Fleet Foxes or what? 😁
