I’m noticing Freyya is pulling in way more points here than that Swedish singer did over the weekend. Honestly? I am totally here for it. 👍 I really feel like if she keeps up that kind of energy and stays this consistent, she could actually shake things up and do some serious damage here. 🙂
I’ve always kinda viewed marriage as this big public statement—you know, like a formal announcement to the world—so personally, it’s never been this massive, life-altering pillar for me. I mean, maybe I’ll tie the knot one of these days? It’s a huge "maybe," though... probably more of a "doubtful," but hey, who knows... 😬 Either way, I don't really buy into the whole idea that there's some "perfect" age to get hitched. If you're looking to have kids and stuff, I'd say your late twenties or thirties are probably the sweet spot for being a parent...
Nicholas King said:A hug is something beautiful, something vital, and—let’s be honest—something deeply intimate.
The problem is, if you’re out there hugging everyone you see, you aren't actually hugging anyone at all.
I suppose this obsessive need to quantify every single little thing is just a way to appeal to a massive, mindless audience—people who probably couldn't care less about any actual depth or analysis. I can just picture Brand from St John in The Middle of Nowhere, clutching some self-help book, meticulously logging her daily hug statistics like it's some kind of scientific breakthrough.
I'm gonna have to disagree with that one. Honestly, I live for those spontaneous hugs—even if the person hugging me was a total stranger just five minutes ago and we basically just met. To me, giving a random hug doesn't somehow make the hugs I give to my family or my best friends feel any less special. It’s not an "either-or" situation, you know?
It’s not like the romance is dead or anything. Actually, I think it's still there. 🙂
It’s just that—compared to how things used to be—romance feels way less obvious to people looking for it nowadays. Why? Because we have a million ways to talk and hang out without even being in the same room. That whole "ritual" side of flirting has basically vanished—you know, back when there were actual rules for how and where you’d meet someone? Back when showing up with a bouquet was a given, or when the neighbors would give you a hard time through the window because they saw you heading out all dressed up and looking sharp...
Edit:
And about this whole debate over what to call people... Look, I live in a long-term domestic partnership, and I don't have any issue calling my partner my "partner" when I'm talking to folks who haven't met her. Usually, I just say "my wife"—mostly because it’s quicker and easier—but I've definitely had people push back on me before, telling me I can't call her my wife until I actually put a ring on her finger, so... 🙂
I don’t always say things the same way twice—honestly, I never do. For the longest time, I've just been living by this one rule: everything is constantly shifting, you know?
But lately... man, I feel like my life has drifted into this weird, messy rut. It’s like I can’t see any kind of real change coming my way unless something absolutely catastrophic hits me out of nowhere—like a sudden health scare or some massive accident—and honestly, thinking about it that way feels pretty heavy and depressing.
Thanks, looks perfectly even now. 🙂
Honestly, if anything, this feature would be a total game-changer for cutting out all those useless posts that just say stuff like "I agree," "Seconded," or "Preach!"—you know, comments that don't actually add anything to the conversation. If people really want to show they’re on board with what someone said, it’d be way better if they just hit the Like button instead of cluttering up the thread with spam. I wouldn't let them express disagreement that easily, though. If you've got a different take, then step up and actually lay out your arguments!
