Nicole Murphy21 said:They are expensive as hell, but they really are fantastic!

Honestly... man... after spending years dealing with monthly and quarterly disposables compared to these bi-weeklies, those old quarterly ones feel like trying to shove bricks into my eyes. I don't think I could ever get them back in there again...

Nicole Murphy21 said:Lately, my eyes have been constantly red, and I honestly started worrying that I was having some kind of allergic reaction. So, naturally, I just tossed the Complete, my contact lenses, and the storage case straight into the trash. Now we wait and see if things improve...

Please, do keep us posted on any changes... I am genuinely curious to see how this unfolds!

the new one http://www.lensmart.com/qxp90763_333...on/surevue.htm
versus the old version from LensCrafters.

Oh, goodness... honestly, I am completely lost now.
Have you checked any other major US optical retailers online? Is there anything "interesting" listed from Johnson & Johnson?
By the way—have you noticed how some Johnson & Johnson products are packaged in sets of 3 lenses ??????? I find that so baffling! Why would anyone sell just three lenses? (What, is it like... a spare button for a shirt...?)

Laura Barnes54 said:My contacts are a total mess. Honestly, they’re driving me crazy, but I can't exactly run out and grab a new pair tomorrow...

Well, if you ask me, you can usually walk into any decent eye doctor's office and pick up a new supply right then and there. Most places keep them in stock, unless you have some really "out there" prescription or a specific base curve that isn't standard.
In my experience, during my very first exam at an optometrist in Seattle, they were able to hand me my new Acuvue lenses immediately! I had mentally braced myself for a long wait—I was fully prepared to sit around for at least two weeks waiting for an order to arrive...

I am fairly certain I saw those specific lenses available for order on Lensway and Optica Online too...

Laura Barnes54 said:Alright ladies, so am I reading this correctly? Is the verdict that I should NOT throw away the lenses I already "washed" in the Complete solution?

Well, if I were in your shoes, I certainly wouldn't toss them out just yet... especially if they’re relatively new! I would just make sure to give them a very thorough rinse in a different solution before wearing them again.
I honestly believe the lenses themselves aren't the issue here—it's strictly about the solution used.

Michelle Kelly76 said:I actually just switched over to Acuvue, but honestly, they are just so expensive! I was seriously considering making the jump to Bausch + Lomb instead. From what I gather, Johnson & Johnson doesn't even carry monthly disposables anymore...😢

As for that second point, I really haven't a clue...

Look, if you check out www.lensway.com, there are so many other contact lens brands listed... I'm dying to know if anyone here has tried anything outside of the usual Bausch + Lomb or Johnson & Johnson options?

On a side note: I read somewhere that Johnson & Johnson specifically recommends using their own Complete solution for their lenses, claiming it's the absolute best pairing for them... Now, I can't help but wonder—is there some sort of secret corporate partnership happening behind the scenes to make those ads look so perfect, or is there actual scientific truth to the claim?

Michelle Kelly76 said:There really isn't any need to overthink it; I personally used them for five years before I finally decided to pull them from my rotation.
http://www.jnjvision.com/surevue.htm

Well, good grief... what other options from Johnson & Johnson should I be looking into then?

And if I may pose one general question for the group: when they list the lens composition, is it actually better to have a HIGHER water content—and if so, how much?—or is a LOWER percentage preferred?

northernmarlin79 said:So, most people seem to be recommending Opti-Free?

Goodness gracious, I can't speak for the majority... but personally, I absolutely adore it!

I suffer from HORRENDOUSLY dry eyes... truly. Back when I had that eye exam—you know, the one where they measure tear production by placing those little strips in your eyes to see how much moisture you can actually produce? Well, I sat there for fifteen minutes and didn't shed a single tear. Not one! So, for someone like me, using Acuvue lenses paired with Opti-Free is an absolute lifesaver.

Michelle Kelly76 said:I was just browsing online and noticed there’s both Opti-Free Express and Opti-Free Replenish. Does anyone know what the actual difference is? 😕

That's actually the first I've heard of those other versions.
Personally, I've always stuck with Opti-Free Express—I used it all the time even when I was traveling through the States, and honestly, it seems like most Americans rely on that exact one... partly because you can practically use it as a direct substitute for artificial tears if you need to; it's quite versatile like that!

Michelle Kelly76 said:Thanks! I'm actually picking some up tomorrow. Honestly, ever since I started using Complete, I can't imagine going back—I've already burned through almost the entire bottle. Once my new lenses arrive, I'll just toss the old ones...

On another note, I have a quick question for the group. Is it true that Bausch & Lomb products are actually bad, or is that just talk? Right now, I'm using Acuvue, but I've been seriously considering making a switch.

Personally, I'm leaning toward B&L, though I think I mentioned somewhere before that I was quite unhappy with them. I've tried their yearly and quarterly options, but now that I've finally given Johnson & Johnson a shot, I can tell you all that those marketing claims from B&L about "exceptional comfort and moisture" simply don't hold water for me. They just aren't true in my case.👎
With Johnson, I am incredibly satisfied (specifically with Oasys), although I think I might try their Serene line just because they're more budget-friendly and come in monthly disposables. It would be good to have a comparison point.
Because honestly, since I moved away from B&L, it feels like I've stepped into a whole new world of clarity! When I was stuck using B&L, I genuinely thought anyone claiming to wear lenses they couldn't even feel was just exaggerating. (Well, until I stopped using them!)
But again, that is strictly MY experience—I know plenty of people who swear by them. Clearly, they work for some and not for others. So, I suppose the only logical thing to do is to keep testing different brands until you find THE ONE perfect lens...

Michelle Kelly76 said:I am seriously going to lose my mind! Is anyone else still using Opti-Free? What’s the verdict on it?
.

Well, about a year ago, I finally made the switch over to Opti-Free. Honestly, I just couldn't deal with that awful Complete solution anymore—it never gave me that sense of comfort you need with contact lenses. It was constant irritation; my eyes were itching, stinging, watering... and I was such a fool, thinking I was somehow doing something wrong myself...
until someone finally told me about Opti-Free... ever since then, it's been nothing but smooth sailing.

I actually use those Optima lenses from B&L that you all seem to be complaining about, and I pair them with Complete Moisture Plus... Well, damn it all! I just went ahead and tossed both my lenses and my solution in the trash a moment ago, and now I am a total bat
because I don't have my glasses anywhere in sight!🙂

Oh, goodness, everyone—I really don't think you should have thrown those lenses away; the criticism seems to be aimed at the solution, and I honestly suspect you could have salvaged the lenses by using some other liquid instead....
What a waste of money....😠
Dangerous contact lens solutions! in Health ·
The pharmacist here actually talked me into picking up some extra stuff from AMO along with my new contacts—things like LENS PLUS and OCUPURE... and I was foolish enough to just go for it 🙂
Now I'm left wondering what on earth to do with all this; I can't help feeling a bit paranoid about it all...

On another note, my sister has been complaining about eye irritation for ten days now (she wears those soft contact lenses with Complete)... she originally thought her new mascara was the culprit, so she stopped using it, but nothing changed. Then she figured the office AC was drying them out, so she turned it off, and still, no relief. (Deva has been on the phone for an hour already and I honestly cannot get her to sit down and just tell me exactly what is going on with her eyes...)

Angela Reyes3 said:I was actually quite shaken by this news, so I did a little digging online. It turns out they’re pulling this solution from the market almost everywhere globally... Honestly, I’ve been using it for years and have always been perfectly happy with it. Now I’m just left staring at my cabinet wondering what on earth I’m supposed to switch to? I need something comparable in price, but I don't want to be stuck in a cycle where I'm hunting for a new brand every single time I run out!

OPTIFREE EXPRESS is absolutely top-tier. If you ask me, they might be the only ones on the market who haven't dealt with some massive scandal involving bacterial growth in their solutions...

mellowbadger24 said:I actually managed to grab some Evian over at Vrutak; they carry it every now and then, though it’s a bit hit-or-miss, but that’s really the only spot where I’ve had any luck finding it here in Chicago.

I've spotted Evian at some of the local gas stations—only problem is, it was sitting there for about 13 bucks.$4.75-honestly, that is just way too much to pay for a liter and a half of water.
Especially since, if you ask me, it doesn't even come close to being as good as our Jane.
Questions about water in Health ·
When I'm back home in the Midwest, I always stick to spring water because the municipal tap water tastes absolutely horrendous—it has this awful, lingering stench. It’s especially jarring when I return from my trips to San Diego, where the water quality is truly top-tier. I recall reading somewhere that the water in San Diego is considered some of the finest in the country because of the surrounding mountain ranges and similar geography; presumably, by the time the water reaches the taps, it has been naturally filtered through all those rock formations... or something along those lines.
I have no scientific way of proving it, but I know for a fact that the water there is delicious, whereas just thinking about that Midwestern tap water makes my stomach turn...
mistyraven42 said:I was reading somewhere that you could drop three pounds just by eating a pound of cherries a day for three days straight. Is there any truth to that?

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some truth to it... though at that point, you're probably just losing weight because you're sprinting to the restroom after eating that many cherries!

If I recall correctly, I believe I heard somewhere that the location is entirely fictional... specifically, that there isn't actually a town called Cicely in Alaska.
