I wanted to put out a small request here, and I’m really hoping someone might be willing to help me out. Basically, I'm looking to pick up some whey protein since everyone says it's the gold standard.
The thing is, my budget is pretty tight, soy options are way too pricey, and I don't know much about the other 🤷 brands out there. My main concern, though, is my digestion. I'm worried it might really mess with my stomach. Since I can't exactly go out and buy just a 50-gram serving—most of these tubs are a kilogram or more—it’s also quite an investment.
So, I was wondering if anyone would be open to a deal where you might sell me about 50 grams or so? All I care about is that it's a high-quality product and that it's actually whey. Ideally, I'd love something without a ton of additives, or at least nothing excessive.
I'm living in Washington, D.C. now, though I'm originally from California. I’m truly hoping someone can lend a hand because I really have no way to test how these proteins affect my digestion before committing. I figure if I had about 50 grams, I could see how it sits with me over three days. Again, if anyone in the Washington, D.C. area could help, I'd appreciate it. Or if you guys know any other way to test this stuff, I'm all ears.
Thanks, 😉
My advice—hit up some local supplement shops and ask if they carry any samples. Your other option is to head to a large gym that has a juice bar on-site and just grab a prepared shake (like the ones you'd find at a big club near the Trade Fair).

I really want to get my weight down to about 198 lbs.
Starting tomorrow, I’m sticking to a strict diet—breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I plan on posting everything I eat here, including the specific times I eat.
Can you guys take a look at my meal plan and tell me if it looks okay? Do you think I can actually hit that 198 lb goal if I stay disciplined?
We’ve already got plenty of threads dedicated to weight loss, so just jump into one of those.

Ashley Fowler87 said:Hey everyone, I could really use some advice. I've just started working out, and while I'm naturally very thin, I have this stubborn little belly that just won't budge. A few months back, I picked up some supplement liquid, and I'm wondering if anyone actually knows what it is or if it's even safe for me to take. The label says CARNITINE LIQUID (100% USP L-Carnitine Supplement). Any thoughts? Thanks!
Don't bother buying that stuff; L-Carnitine is pretty much useless. It's just throwing money down the drain.

I usually try to stick to things like eggs, cottage cheese, or tuna when I need protein.
That works. You could also toss in a few carbs to help replenish your muscle glycogen after you finish your workout. 😉
Rachel Parker38 said:jadetiger962, I was wondering if you could give me your take on something. I’ve been using the Dymatize All Natural Elite Whey in vanilla. It’s sweetened with stevia, which is a huge plus for me since I try my best to avoid artificial sweeteners whenever possible. Just to give you some context, I’m female and I hit the gym six days a week—three of those sessions are runs. I usually have my protein mixed into some yogurt with a banana in the evening. Do you think this is a solid approach, or am I missing the mark somehow? Thnx
If you're having it right after a workout, you're fine, though you might actually see better results if you paired it with a more substantial meal.
Well, that's one way to start a conversation, I suppose. Not exactly much to go on, but I'll take it. kaže:
I mean, I really hope this thing actually works, right?🤷
The idea behind mixing grape sugar into your post-workout meal along with some whey protein is actually pretty straightforward. You’re essentially looking to spike your insulin levels, which acts like a key to help those proteins get into your cells more efficiently. At the same time, you're using that sugar to quickly replenish your glycogen stores that you just burned through during your session.
I'm not entirely sure about the exact ingredients in what you picked up, but if it happens to be this:
http://forum.teretana.net/viewtopic....d701dfc784a11bSo, at the end of the day, that has absolutely nothing to do with the whey itself and isn't meant for Post-Workout Nutrition, which means trying to pair it with grape sugar is pretty much a pointless exercise.
Donna Wells74 might try to pull a fast one by smuggling him into her office and keeping him tucked away there, though that’s really only an option if she actually has the desk space and a few coworkers who aren't too nosy to look the other way. 🙂
It’s pretty obvious to me that once these things go mainstream, thieves are going to catch on immediately and start finding ways to bypass them. Besides, let's be real—GPS doesn't even work inside buildings anyway...
neongardener21 said:...or rather than heading right onto Slavonian, you could cut right onto Vukovar's (which actually has a bike path).
The thing is, those paths are pretty hit-or-miss, especially if you're sticking to the southern side of town. 🙄
Jose White18 said:The road over by Krešimir is a bit bumpy, but it’s manageable...
Why's that? Personally, I don't find it too bad at all. 🤷
I mean, sure, the ride back is a little rough because of those streetcar tracks... 🤔
Hmm. If I were in your shoes, I’d steer clear of the main transit hub altogether. Instead of heading toward the university, I’d cut right along Slavonian, swing left into Circles, then take an immediate right and follow Držić's via the side road. It’s actually much smoother if you stick to the eastern side of Držić's to bypass the bus terminal—just cross over at the intersection with Vukovar's. Once you hit Branimir's, you can cruise down Šubić's quite easily; even during the morning rush, traffic is pretty light there, and since it has two lanes, you can breeze right past everyone (most drivers tend to head toward Bauer's anyway). The shoulder on the other route is just too narrow, and you'll be constantly dodging pedestrians. When you reach Martić's, you'll be right where you need to be to decide whether to turn right or left, and if you head toward the very start of Martić's, you could always opt for Bauer's instead. 🙂
To be honest, I always make a point of staying dead center in my lane when I’m approaching an intersection. In my opinion, it’s the safest way to handle things—it basically prevents other drivers from trying to squeeze past you right in the middle of the junction. If you're planning a left turn, you just pull up squarely into the left-turn lane and settle in there. That’s really all there is to it.
If you don't mind me asking, where exactly did you hear that?
Hannah Barnes24 said:And then once I actually make it to the mosque, I’m faced with the next headache: how on earth am I supposed to get over to Martić's? Two of the lanes are forcing you to turn right onto Zvonimir, but I really need to keep going straight. Am I just supposed to cut across traffic? How does anyone even manage that?
Just stick to the lane that doesn't veer off toward Zvonimir and stays straight, then take the very next right. When you're hitting a roundabout, honestly, just own the whole lane—there isn't any driver out there who's going to be able to overtake you in a circle like that anyway. 😉

My ride:

Frame size: 16.5
Nice, another navigator joins the fray. Speaking of which, where on earth did elephant go? I haven't seen them around in ages... 😢
Ideally, your seat should be high enough that when you have the pedal at its lowest point and rest your heel on it, your leg should be completely straight. On a bike like this, especially when you're moving at these speeds, it’s probably not quite as critical, but just keep in mind what Arash was saying about making sure you don't get caught in too high a gear. 🙂
hiddenviper17 said:I’ve adjusted my seat height just enough so I can almost touch the ground with my fingertips. 🙂 I’m definitely not going any lower than that. 🙂
Usually, knee pain is a telltale sign that your saddle isn't at the right height, or perhaps your bike frame is just a size too big or too small for you. What kind of bike are you riding?
Donna Wells74 said:Oh, honey, if I actually rode on a regular basis, I wouldn't be in this mess! 😁
On the weekends, mostly Saturdays—though occasionally I'll ride back on Sunday afternoon if I can manage to snag the bike from my folks.
Sometimes I'll squeeze in a quick loop after work, but don't call me an athlete. It's far from a routine. For context, I'm about 5'3" riding a navy blue Jamis MTB 😁, and honestly, I tend to get a bit tunnel-visioned when I'm out there, so please yell if you see something coming and I haven't noticed. 🙂
P.S. And yeah, I know we're technically talking about "commuting by bike." I do intend to start doing that, but first I need to fix up my old beat-up rig. I’m a little nervous about leaving my current one out; our building has a "parking area" outside, and even though the receptionists can see it from inside, I'm just not comfortable leaving it at the mercy of street thieves for eight hours straight. Mmm, new brakes, tires, chain, derailleurs... hopefully, I won't have to replace everything.
Just get out there and ride as much as you can. Your stamina will catch up, your health will improve, and you'll naturally start paying more attention to your surroundings. 🙂
Something along these lines should do the trick:
http://www.craigslist.org/cs/fitness-equipment-ad-3779429Just search for "pull-up bars" over on Craigslist. 🙂
I actually picked up this little recipe from my old man back in the day. It’s incredibly straightforward—you just peel and grate a single vegetable, toss in some chilled, pre-cooked cannellini beans, a dollop of yogurt or maybe some sour cream, and a tiny pinch of salt. It’s pretty delicious if you happen to have a bit of a craving for something with a little kick. 🙂

Look, as far as I'm concerned, I'm fine with it—provided you promise me you aren't going to go back to pushing that whole anorexia thing.
Morgan Moore37 said:Good grief, how many liters could that thing actually hold? I remember having something similar back in the day, but I mostly just used it to stash my sneakers and some old jeans. Either that, or I’ve just completely lost all sense of scale over the years.
They come in all sorts of sizes, really. I'll snap a few photos for you in a bit.
Morgan Moore37 said:If we’re talking about that specific bike pannier, you can pretty much ditch everything else. You’ve already got the kiddo's car seat, so really all you need is a solid bag and maybe some heavy-duty plastic to keep the rain out, and you're good to go.
Basically, instead of hauling a kid, you're just hauling a backpack.
It fits for me, though. I could even show you myself if I had the chance. 😛
