Arthur Ross said:So, what are we actually talking about here? Is it just some sneakers, jeans, a couple of tees, maybe a sweatshirt, and then a random pile of paperwork tossed in for good measure?

Honestly, it’s pretty much that. I think I caught a glimpse of one sitting in an AECOM storefront window the other day, so you could always swing by and take a look for yourself if you're curious.

It’s sweltering again.
The backpack is absolutely killing me; I’m sweating like crazy under there.
I really need to start looking into some panniers.
Every single day it's the same routine: shorts, a short-sleeved tee, and sneakers. My back is just completely soaked.

How are you guys hauling your gear?

I use this storage bin in my trunk where I just toss everything. It’s the exact same model as mine, though I’ve got different stickers on it:

Help! My hard drives are overheating! in Cycling ·
nimblehound32 said:I was wondering if this is actually normal behavior for brake rotors, and whether it’s okay to spray them down with water or something similar? I've seen all sorts of wild stuff on YouTube regarding overheating issues, so I'm a bit unsure.🙂

Thanks in advance 🙂)

The single most important thing you need to learn here is just don't touch the rotors. 😬

The place is still a work in progress; at least it wasn't finished the last time I rolled by. And just for the record, whenever I head up that way, I'm always driving—I've never been one to tackle that route on a bike.
Protein supplements and working out [D] in Hobbies & Leisure ·
black19 - why don't you head over to the nutrition subforum and find a thread that actually fits what you're looking for? As a rule of thumb, you definitely want to be hitting your protein targets, but there’s no need to obsess over it to the point of madness; just try to keep it high whenever you can. It doesn't matter if you're getting it from eggs, cheese, chicken, or milk—honestly, even stuff like beans and whole grains carries a decent amount of protein. But generally speaking, if your goal is to put on some actual mass, you really need to make sure you're eating enough of it.

I'd suggest checking out the workout programming threads instead.

That particular section absolutely kills me, probably because I have to put in some serious effort just to navigate the incline once I get past the trailhead over by the suburbs. 😁

I know exactly which ridge you mean, and yeah, it’s a legitimate climb. 😬
Kevin Rivera41 said:I have to say, Reddit really dropped the ball on this whole event. It’s funny how it works—when there's actually something happening, only a handful of us show up to pay attention, but the second there's an opportunity to start some chaotic flame war in the threads, everyone suddenly becomes an expert commentator. :P

jadetiger962 I spent quite a bit of time hunting down that interview myself, but I came up empty-handed. Honestly, though, if you just scroll through Facebook, there are plenty of photos from it floating around out there.

I was watching this news segment earlier today about the recent developments regarding the local housing crisis and how it’s hitting families hard, and I couldn't help but think about how much things have shifted lately. It’s one of those situations where you see the headlines and think it’s just numbers on a screen, but then you talk to someone actually living through it—like my neighbor over in Chicago who’s been trying to navigate the mortgage market for months—and you realize the scale of the struggle. The report touched on some pretty heavy stuff regarding how urban development projects aren't quite keeping pace with the actual demand, leaving a massive gap that most middle-class Americans are feeling right in their wallets. It reminded me of a conversation I had with Kevin Rivera41 a few weeks back; we were grabbing coffee and discussing how even the most stable neighborhoods seem to be getting priced out by these massive corporate investment firms moving in. It feels like the dream of owning a modest home is becoming a bit of a moving target for a lot of people. It makes you wonder if there's going to be any meaningful policy shift from Washington soon, or if we're just going to keep watching these trends play out until the bubble finally settles. There isn't an easy fix, but ignoring the widening gap between wages and property values seems like a recipe for more frustration down the road.

Around the twenty-five-minute mark, there’s this little sequence that lasts just a few seconds, but you can't exactly skip ahead to get to it, so you're stuck just sitting there waiting for it to play out. 🙄
Richard Lewis16 said:well, they've got all the updates right there on their official website 😉

I took a look earlier but didn't see anything, so I'm going to head back and dig through it again.

unknown, and nobody even caught it on video. 🙄

I’m going to have to pester them to see if they have some kind of recording. Does anyone know the procedure (emphasizing the first "u" 😬)?
How to slim down lower legs? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
quietpilot87 said:Honestly, this level of trolling is so absurdly ridiculous that I’m actually questioning my own sanity for even bothering to reply. 😁

Just go put both your legs in casts and call it a day. 🤷😁

It looks like everyone is having a grand old time here, so I figured I’d hang around for a little longer. 😬

As if getting stuck in leg casts or being confined to bed would somehow work wonders. Though, I suppose if they paired that with some strict medical diet, anything might be possible. 🙏 🙏 🙏

Kevin Rivera41 said:It’s honestly pretty disappointing how poorly they handled one of our biggest cycling events here in Los Angeles. I might as well just go solo next time. 😁

Well, you wouldn't have been alone; apparently, they actually featured me on the local ABC news broadcast. 😍
I headed over to the bike shop today to grab about fifteen of those flyers from Kenneth Reed7, then spent some time handing them out to cyclists around Fifth Avenue. I was basically flagging people down, giving them a quick rundown of what we’re all about, and passing out a flyer if they seemed genuinely interested. Some folks weren't having any of it, others were already in the loop, and I’m pretty sure a good chunk of them will end up rallying a whole crowd of people. 🙂
Cycling through a roundabout in Cycling ·
Sean White6 said:Hey everyone!

My brother was telling me the other day that it's actually illegal to ride a bike through a roundabout. I've been digging through the legal codes and even checking the NCAA guidelines, but I can't find anything stating that cyclists aren't allowed in them. Does anyone here actually know the deal on whether you can legally ride through one or not?

Thanks! 🙂

I don't see why that would be an issue. I mean, what else are you supposed to do when you hit a roundabout? Just stop and wait?
This whole thing is just nonsense. It’s like I’m talking to a brick wall here. Thread locked.
William Alvarez35 said:First, you admit that you don't always follow the rules of the road yourself. Then, after the rest of us openly acknowledge that we all commit minor infractions from time to time, you single out my post just to start lecturing everyone and acting like we're all living in some chaotic, lawless wasteland. What's your deal, honestly? That’s what everyone else is asking—you spend your time calling people out and insulting them, yet you're doing the exact same things you're criticizing.

The difference is that when I slip up occasionally (and let's be real, it's rare), I actually try to do better. You, on the other hand, don't bother following the rules at all, and your only excuse is that everyone else is being just as bad as you are.
William Alvarez35 said:We’re talking about rules of the road, not just the signs themselves. There's a massive difference there.

I’d say my age and everything I’ve picked up along the way serve me pretty well; I've learned quite a bit from life, which seems to be more than I can say for you.

I have no interest in continuing this conversation with you on this subject.

Oh, really? So traffic signs aren't part of the rules of the road? Are stoplights just there for decoration then, not actually defined anywhere in the law?

I can certainly see how much "learning" you've done. 🙄
William Alvarez35 said:I didn't strip out all the specifics because I was just building on what hara said. Look, obviously I respect the rules, but let's be real—when I’m approaching a crosswalk, I don't exactly dismount and push my bike ahead of me like a saint; I just commit to the crossing and give a little kick with my foot where there isn't a dedicated lane. I don't ride out into the middle of the street either; I stay on the sidewalk, though I always make sure to give pedestrians and everyone else the space they deserve. It's not like I'm some maniac weaving through traffic on a red light. And honestly, sometimes when I'm riding near a marked red bike lane, I might drift slightly to the side of the arrow if I'm alone and there's nobody around... Miškooooo nesti, I'm not out here committing major felonies, so please, watch your tone—based on how old you sound, I could easily be your father.

Once again, you're completely missing my point. We are discussing traffic signs and running red lights, not crosswalk etiquette or bike lane positioning.

The fact that you're older just makes this more embarrassing, considering you still haven't learned the basics.
