Henry Morris3 said:When do they even hand out a stop-and-go penalty anymore? It used to happen all the time back in the day, but I can't really remember the last time anyone actually got one.

It’s reserved for the more serious infractions. Back in the day, they didn't have the drive-through penalty option, so a stop-and-go was often the only way to penalize certain things. Eventually, they realized that for some minor mistakes, a stop-and-go was just a bit too harsh a punishment, wouldn't you agree?

Michael Lee4 said:I'm leaning that way too... you could tell he was second-guessing himself—hesitating, starting, slowing down, then likely getting the green light from the pits and flooring it again. The crew in the pit lane probably got thrown off by that exit line.

Not that it matters much since those assholes refuse to release the team radio at that moment, even though I'm positive there was a conversation happening.

I’d honestly be willing to bet my life that if it weren't for the Safety Car, Fernando Alonso would have cruised right through that period without anyone even batting an eye. Wouldn't that just be the way it goes?
It was such a strange sequence of events, wasn't it? It looked like Lewis Hamilton managed to pull off this perfectly timed maneuver, essentially blocking Fernando Alonso just enough so that he couldn't make his move before the Safety Car came out—only for Alonso to end up getting past anyway. How does that even happen?

So, I’ve been sitting here wondering about that moment with Hemie. Did he actually misjudge his line and overshoot the Safety Car after that specific turn, or was there something more calculated at play? Was he intentionally putting pressure on Fernando Alonso, or was he simply waiting on a signal from the pit wall that hadn't arrived yet? Honestly, only Race Control can settle that debate, but we'll never truly know the driver's intent behind the wheel.

Hamilton is his direct rival in the championship, so naturally, he’s going to try to mess with him any way he possibly can. 😉

Maybe he was holding out hope for a stop-and-go penalty that would have knocked Hamilton completely out of the points, which explains why he seems so disappointed...

Michael Lee4 said:Totally deserved... though I'm pretty sure his pit crew played a massive role in that too.

And that’s probably the truth of it.😉

I don't really get this part. 😕

I just saw him walking around perfectly fine and acting like nothing happened. 😕
How is that even possible? 😕

I mean, a crash is a crash. Or am I just losing my mind? 🤷

If you or I were sitting in that cockpit, our spines would probably be shattered; those cars are specifically engineered to handle those kinds of massive G-forces. 😉

I honestly wasn't sure, I was just reading up on it and passing it along—that’s why I used the confused emoji 🙂
but hey, at least now we know the reason 😁

rapidstag2 said:Indeed. 🙏 Here we go again. He’ll clock in at over 250 mph, slam right into the rear of someone, and perform a mid-air somersault that looks more like a discarded paper airplane drifting through the sky than a professional racing maneuver. Once the wreckage settles back onto the asphalt, he'll simply fail to hit the brakes and slide straight into the tire barriers. Then, just a second later, he’ll climb out of the cockpit without so much as a single scratch on him. 🙏

On the other hand, if a stray gust of wind so much as grazes that front wing, isn't the entire setup just going to disintegrate? 🤣

That’s precisely why the monocoque is engineered the way it is—to ensure everything else shatters while the cockpit remains intact 😉
and honestly, if you look closely, the nose structure stayed completely undamaged, which suggests the impact wasn't quite as violent as it looked
but even if it had been more intense, the nose would have simply snapped to absorb most of that energy 😉

cosmicridge5 said:The showdown between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton 😁

Does anyone have any idea what Lewis Hamilton actually did there? 🤣

Word on the street is that he slowed down a bit too much once the Safety Car came out on the track. Was he just playing it too safe, or was there more to it? 😕

Honestly, Dragan Hemić gave me chills🤣🤣🤣

No, honestly, why all the panic? It’s perfectly normal that he’s okay; if anything, we should be surprised he wasn't hurt more ☕
With the roll bar, Hans Zimmer protection, his harness, and the fact that he hit the fourth row of tires, of course I'm fine...

Is this just a typo or a copy-paste fail?🤷
What logic did they use to put Hülkenberg at 8 and Barrichello at 9?🤷

To the person who posts the time first. 😉

Doesn't this site have a sub-forum dedicated to TV shows or something along those lines? 🤷 ☕

So, if we could steer the conversation back to the topic at hand for a moment—F1 then versus F1 now... you just don't see this kind of thing much anymore these days, do you?🤣🤣🤣

HEADS UP!!!! Just a quick warning: the links in this thread lead to some pretty graphic photos of Tom Pryce's accident... I wouldn't recommend clicking if you have a weak stomach.
