2009 Car Reveal in Formula 1 ·
stormybadger8 said:🤣Look, you can believe whatever you want, and if that’s how it looks to you, feel free to buy me a beer first😬 but honestly, Williams just has the best livery in my book. Even that car from last year's testing? Still the most beautiful thing on the grid so far.😁

Williams is going to run some temporary colors during testing—they might even stick with that classic deep blue featuring the stripe on the nose 🙂—while they hold off on unveiling the official look until right before the season kicks off.

It seems like they're still ironing out some sponsorship deals, so they're just waiting for 👍 things to fall into place.

Roger Wright94 said:Just like the title says. I ended up with two extra copies, so I’d love to pass one along to someone.

They are 40 x 30 in size. The image quality is actually quite decent—though just a heads-up, there's a small strip about 5-6 cm at the bottom containing some dates.
The collection includes 4 x McLaren, 2 x Ferrari, 2 x Renault, 2 x Toyota, Red Bull, and BMW.

If anyone feels like hanging one on a wall (it’s certainly not a waste of space!), just let me know.

No Frank Williams? Pffft. ☕

I honestly think Tiger Woods is going to have the best-looking car on the grid,🙏🙏🙏 provided they can actually find some speed again like they used to.🙏 It makes me wonder how the championship battle will shake out. Here’s my take:

The Heavy Hitters:
Tiger Woods, General Motors, Red Bull Racing👋

The Mid-Pack:
Toyota, Ford, Honda, Last Place

The Bottom Tier:
Aston Martin,🙂Ferrari,McLaren😬

Now, isn't this just blatant brown-nosing the moderator?🤣

The presentations look top-notch so far, though I suspect some lackluster designs might be lurking just around the corner. 👋 😁

Come Monday, we finally get to see the most beautiful cars—the ones that will likely end up being the biggest surprises of the season, don't you think?🙏🙏🙏

Frank Collins85 said:mistybear87, why don't you just bundle all those images into the first post? It'll make comparing them much easier, otherwise this thread is going to stretch on forever...

I'll find some time to get that sorted over the weekend, along with doing a little bit of housekeeping to clear out the spam from the threads, lol.

I was penalized just for voicing my opinion, yet some people get away with it even after throwing insults at me just because I don't see eye to eye with them...🤷
So, darkmarlin16, be a pal and tell me—how do I get this strike cleared?🙂

He got hit too, so quit the nonsense and stop spamming this thread.☕

He actually did get carded.☕

I wouldn't be so sure; there seems to be far too much activity in one spot for that to be the case.
Besides, when someone mentions "one of two corners," they might just be referring to the Avus.🙂

stormybadger8 said:I'm a little confused here😕 regarding these new rules. If there's now an 18,000 RPM limit, what actually happens with the KERS? Does that restriction apply to the KERS usage as well, or does the limit effectively disappear once the system kicks in? I mean, if you can't exceed those RPMs anyway, what's the point of the whole setup? 🤷 It seems counterintuitive—if you're already hitting your ceiling on a straightaway, what exactly do you gain from using KERS if you aren't allowed to push past that 18,000 mark? 🤷

KERS shouldn't affect the engine's RPM limit (or at least, it shouldn't). The entire system is integrated into the transmission, so during those few seconds per lap when it's being deployed, it's just releasing energy through the gearbox. 😉

steelviper43 said:...and if they put some barcode-looking thing on there, we’d all know instantly it was just a Marlboro ad anyway.

After twenty-five years of seeing Marlboro branding all over those Ferraris, people just instinctively link Ferrari with Marlboro, regardless of what's actually printed on the car. So really, it’s about the marketing, mistybear87, not just the bottom line. 😉

On a different note, the car definitely looks more aesthetic than that hybrid monstrosity Sauber was running during testing.

Wasn't Marlboro sponsoring McLaren back in the nineties too?🤷
There is certainly an element of marketing at play here, but do you honestly believe Marlboro *has* to advertise directly? I’m telling you, a huge part of this comes down to tax incentives.

Kevin Long20 said:I honestly prefer this year's cars; they look much cleaner without all those extra wings, fins, and unnecessary little bits everywhere...

edit: I just noticed Tata is on the car now, sitting right in what seems to be the most unattractive spot on the entire chassis... I really can't wrap my head around why Philip Morris insists on this sponsorship. The last time their product was actually visible was back in China in 2007, and frankly, this barcode design looks terrible.

Is it just because it's a tax write-off for them? 🤷

Keep an eye on those little slots on the sidepods—they’re likely there for cooling purposes or maybe just to help balance out the air pressure.

darkmarlin16 said:I have to say, I’m actually a bit surprised—it isn't even that bad. But looking at it from above? That’s just unpleasant. I honestly don't get why they titled it the F60 instead of the F2008.

Well, it's because it marks the 60th anniversary of Formula 1 itself (and its overall history, for that matter).☕

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally approaching—it's almost time for the first big reveals of the new cars. I figured I’d start this thread so we have a dedicated space to drop images and share our thoughts.

Now, just to keep things organized and prevent the page from becoming a total mess, I’m going to make a few small exceptions to our usual image rules for this specific thread:
- Please try to keep your images under 0.8 megapixels (something like 1024x768 works, though I’d personally recommend sticking to 800x600)
- You can include a maximum of four images per post.

Everything else follows our standard community guidelines. If you have a high-res photo that exceeds these limits, please just use links or thumbnails instead.

To get us started, here is a little something from Ferrari. 🙂

Holiday greeting ideas? in Formula 1 ·

Merry Christmas to everyone, and here’s to a wonderful New Year ahead.

P.S. Just because I'm saying this doesn't mean I'll be disappearing for a while 😛

shadowfox622 said:Well, it looks like we’ve reached the end of an era—this is officially the final standalone issue of Motor Trend. It’s a bit of a shift, isn't it? The next installment won't be hitting the stands until March 15th, and you'll have to grab it through the new subscription service. I took a look at the details on their website, and honestly, I’m quite pleased with how they've handled it. It actually works out to be a pretty decent way to save some money. What do you all think about the change? $8.25 By the moon. 😁

It’s a bit of a mess, isn't it? But honestly, it seems pretty obvious that the lackluster sales numbers finally caught up with them. 😢
