Come on, Gitak, you’re getting old and boring.

It’s actually true, I suppose—it builds up the body's defenses.🙂

I honestly believe there’s some actual logic behind this. I mean, go ahead—walk around barefoot all day (except maybe during the peak of summer, though even then it happens more often than you'd think)—and what’s going to happen? You’ll inevitably catch a cold or something similar, especially my wife 😍
. The old-timers always used to say, "everything starts in the feet." There’s definitely a connection to the cold. Personally, I’m always falling ill once winter hits; my poor sinuses just can't handle it when those harsh North winds start blowing through—they just can't take the chill. So, I suppose this works along the same lines. 🤷 I remember reading somewhere that it might have something to do with the specific materials involved or something like that—I don't really know the science behind it, and I’m sure the experts in bioenergy, magnetism, and all that will have a better explanation (to me, that stuff is all Greek 😁), but perhaps it acts as a sort of shock to the system.

I mean, the original prompt might have been started just to troll, but it could actually turn into something interesting...

Honestly, a topic like that would be great. 👍 You've actually reminded me of something that happened to me last summer (how could I have forgotten 🙄). I was at a friend's wedding—it was roughly a hundred degrees outside, and while the venue had AC, which is fine, I guess—but I was foolish enough not to bring any dance shoes. So, halfway through the night, I ended up taking my shoes off and dancing barefoot on these freezing cold tiles until sunrise. Now, I don't usually deal with much ovarian discomfort, but because of that, I spent the entire next day shivering in pain. It was this horrible sensation—almost as if my ovaries were reacting to some foreign object or something, just incredibly uncomfortable. 😢
I'm fairly certain there's some truth to these old stories; after all, so many people have had similar experiences, so I suppose there must be some logic to it.
The Legend of the Cold Stone in Health ·
From what I can recall—and I’ve certainly been around the block enough to know my own patterns—the constant lecture I received growing up was "never sit on a stone" (especially if it's cold), otherwise you'll end up with some sort of inflammation in your ovaries or bladder; plus, there is everything else > mentioned. Back when I was a kid, I used to just roll my eyes and think, "Yeah, right," which usually prompted some sort of lecture along the lines of: "Maybe you won't feel it now, but just wait until you're older and try sitting down like that—then you'll see."
I have actually heard from some more knowledgeable folks that there might be some logic to it—and not just specifically regarding cold stones—since it acts as a sort of physiological shock, in this case to the ovaries. Even looking at my own circle of friends (myself included), I know we would all deal with some sort of ovarian discomfort for a few days after sitting on something cold, particularly during the summer. It is entirely possible that this is exactly what happens; women just seem to be more sensitive to these things in general 😁

Carol Palmer44 said:... but seriously, can I really claim it’s just blood pressure? Because I genuinely felt like I was about to pass out—like I was fading, losing my footing entirely, until I managed to grab onto the bathroom sink for dear life.

It certainly could be. Personally, I have to be extremely careful about standing up too quickly—especially during those sweltering summer days at the beach—because otherwise, I get these massive black spots in my vision and start to stumble; it knocks me out completely. And if I’m already feeling run down or haven't been keeping up with enough food or fluids? Well, then it’s game over.😉

Just make sure you're staying hydrated and grabbing some decent, nutritious meals.👍
Infertility and low fertility issues in Women's Health ·
wearyranger10 said:... that she probably won't be able to have kids, and if she ever does get pregnant, either she or the baby will die???
...
she doesn't want to go back to a private gynecologist for a full exam
....
but I suspect she might not even fully grasp what he told her...

First off: that doctor deserves to have someone spit in his face—or maybe just a good old-fashioned beating—because he showed zero compassion and didn't even provide a legitimate diagnosis. To tell a patient something like that so bluntly— 😲 I honestly cannot believe my eyes!!! Based on what, for heaven's sake? 😲 You have to realize that every woman—well, probably every other woman, really—runs into some kind of issue, and most of the time, those things can be managed or fixed. There are so many modern treatments available today, and plenty of ways to assist with fertility. 🙂

That being said, a few things are completely unclear to me here:
1. If this girl is truly this devastated and the news has crushed her, why hasn't she sought out a second, third, or even fourth opinion? She absolutely MUST get another opinion and undergo a thorough examination, because that "amateur" checkup was clearly incomplete. She should find a reputable specialist and take her time getting everything checked out properly. I’m fairly certain that if she did, she wouldn't be grieving needlessly; in fact, a different doctor would likely tell her something entirely different. I remember having a doctor who was quite the character back when I lived in Chicago (a few other people on this forum had similar experiences too), and she certainly knew how to rattle my nerves, but then there was another lady here who was told to just accept she'd never have children, only to end up pregnant without any issues at all.

2. What is the actual diagnosis? It makes no sense to me how a gynecologist could be so incredibly harsh and claim with 100% certainty that she’ll never conceive, or that she and the baby would both perish 😕 Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm thinking: either she's exaggerating the situation (since she hasn't mentioned a specific diagnosis) or that doctor is a total psychopath who needs his medical license revoked immediately. 🤷 👎

RUN TO GET A SECOND OPINION, and a third if necessary, and make sure she gets a COMPLETE exam, not just a half-hearted one.
And please, ask her for the diagnosis—what exactly did he say?!? She can't just shut herself away and spiral because of one idiot doctor. Once she tells us what the diagnosis actually is, we can try to help figure things out here.

You’ve just given birth—so you’re already physically drained—and on top of that, you’re dealing with low blood pressure. When it comes to low BP, it is CRITICAL to stay properly hydrated, especially during these warmer months. You mentioned in your post that you aren't really drinking much liquid.
Personally, I have low blood pressure myself, so I am constantly chugging massive amounts of water—and my body tends to crave salt, too, I guess.
I’m not sure if you have a blood pressure monitor at home, but you should definitely keep an eye on it.

Well, would Silver work then?

Here’s the situation—the new rule regarding signatures doesn't allow for any special characters at all, which means even an asterisk is out. Anderlon made that quite clear, so I suppose I have to abide by it.

Greetings!
Right from the get-go, the fact that I have two "r"s in my username has been a bit of a nuisance. I originally went with this spelling because there was already a user named Samuel Morgan4 on here—though they aren't active anymore—but I wasn't quite ready to let go of the name entirely.
Is there any way I could swap out that second "r" for the ® symbol?
Please 🙂

Noppe, the boss says no.

. Thanks for the advice, I suppose, but there’s actually already a thread covering this exact topic

THANKS for reminding me about this song—I had completely wiped it from my memory!!! What an absolute legend!! 👍
Talking Heads in Music ·
They were such a colorful, truly original, and deeply influential group. They flirted with all sorts of different musical genres, yet somehow managed to stay entirely themselves. I’d argue they produced one of those rare covers that actually sounds better—at least in my humble opinion—than the original: taka me to The River from the legendary 🙏Live in Rome 1980
. And that’s without even mentioning their massive catalog of other iconic tracks. Since David Byrne was essentially "originality squared," their music videos were just as unique. When you factor in the golden age of MTV back in the 80s... 👋
I suspect they might be somewhat underrated; I mean, it’s telling enough that we didn't even have a dedicated thread for them on this forum until a few days ago 😱
. We also shouldn't forget that Byrne was one of those rare, high-profile performers who actually made his way to America during the war years. I still have this vivid memory of him appearing as a guest on a major American morning talk show.
I mean, honestly, who could ever forget those legendary David Byrne dance moves and those breezy, oversized trousers? 😍

Wait, who are you talking to? Am I the one at fault here, or is it Paul Mitchell98, since he was actually the one who brought up Sevkurina?
For the record—I am "Z"—and I absolutely hate Serevin. 🙂
How to get rid of cellulite? in Health ·
Karen Adams2 said:Like everyone else has already pointed out, your weight has absolutely nothing to do with cellulite. I dealt with the exact same thing while I was on birth control pills. Once I stopped taking them, my skin cleared right up. Hormones can really do strange things to our bodies.
At the end of the day, you can definitely fight back against it—healthy eating and staying active are the only ways to go, period. No other theory holds water!
And please, save your money on those anti-cellulite creams—if they work at all, they just temporarily "hide" it, but the issue remains underneath.
The weather is gorgeous right now, though; cycling, rollerblading, running, hitting the gym—there are so many options out there!

Well, I suppose I’m living proof that even with a clean diet and regular gym sessions—plus swimming from June through October—cellulite can still hang around and refuse to be totally eradicated. It’s the same story for the other women who have been training alongside me for years. We don't have much of it, but it hasn't vanished; it’s just harder to spot because of our lifestyle. Some lucky women just aren't genetically predisposed to it, I guess.

It’s true that I don't deal with a ton of it, but it shows up in certain spots (if you really squeeze) and there's always a way to bring it down to some "aesthetic" minimum—probably by adding some consistent massage to help "mask" it, or what I call "applying makeup" to the skin. 😍

So, ladies, just stay persistent. Healthy eating, working out, massages, staying hydrated, self-massage... eventually, it will diminish and become almost invisible to the naked eye. 👍

Dieting doesn't solve anything, especially when it comes to starving yourself. I can't tell you how many girls I've seen during the summer who tried that. You can clearly see they lost weight, but their skin ended up looking saggy and flat as a board, while they still had cellulite everywhere from their glutes down to their knees and along their sides.
How to get rid of cellulite? in Health ·
Cellulite is honestly one of the worst things to deal with—and those big cosmetic chains claiming they can fix it with their overpriced creams, mud masks, or ointments? They’re basically lying straight to consumers' faces. You might be able to "reduce" it—and by that, I mean making it look less noticeable from an aesthetic standpoint—mostly through massages, which essentially just provides temporary coverage. But it always comes back, especially if you have a sedentary lifestyle or if there are hormonal pills involved (as is the case for 😉). I suppose consistent, professional massage would be the most effective route. Of course, typical summer activities can help, but anyone under the impression that they can actually eradicate cellulite is sorely mistaken.
