Well, yeah—exactly. It’s all pretty baffling for us, I suppose. If only this were the one thing everyone was split on... but clearly, it isn't.
At this point, I guess we're just left waiting on the feedback from the other ladies on the forum.

That’s essentially how endometriosis develops, which then leads to the formation of dermoid cysts...

I am genuinely curious about where you actually read that, or who exactly told you such a thing.
You seem to have gotten things quite mixed up here—there isn't really any logic to what you're saying, and I doubt any medical professional would ever describe it that way.

These are usually teratomas that arise due to painful menstrual cramps.

How exactly could benign ovarian tumors be caused by menstrual cramps?
Well, it’s a bit subjective, I suppose—it really depends on how you look at it. If we were strictly following a textbook formula, an ideal weight might be around 139 pounds, but life rarely works out that linearly.
It’s difficult to judge someone through a computer screen and just say, "Yeah, that's way too low, you're anorexic."

I’m roughly that same height (5'8"), and I remember dropping down to about 115 pounds during one particularly exhausting stretch of my life—and let me tell you, I was right on the edge. I looked like a walking clothes hanger; just completely flat and gaunt. (which, if I'm being honest, was probably the catalyst for some hormonal issues and all the subsequent headaches that come with that later on)
It’s really nothing to worry about, honestly.
Besides—and I could very well be wrong here—it doesn't necessarily mean my theory holds water. 🙂
It’s entirely possible we might be looking at a bed bug situation here.
Bed bugs... maybe. 🤷

I suppose I can only hope everything turns out alright in the end. What really matters—if there's any silver lining here—is that both of you conduct your due diligence and perform every single search with absolute thoroughness.

Wishing you both nothing but good health and the very best of luck!

Dear lonebear88, I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the nightmare your boyfriend is going through right now. 😢
I can only begin to imagine what you two are dealing with.

If I may offer a bit of perspective—that PAP test doesn't actually tell the whole story; I suppose its accuracy depends heavily on how much time has passed since the actual encounter. He really ought to get some more comprehensive testing done—specifically swabs for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, chlamydia, and HPV.

Just a side note: it’s entirely possible that you won't even be carrying the same bacteria, so it would probably be best if he went in for a full exam—meaning, he should definitely get those swabs done and report exactly what happened. I realize this is an incredibly awkward situation to navigate, but for the sake of his health—and to prevent any further transmission—he really should undergo a thorough screening. In the meantime, using condoms is absolutely non-negotiable.

Hang in there. 🙂

I was hoping to use this as a way to compare different types of treatments—you know, any kind of oral medication designed to target a specific area—but I’m particularly curious about the reasoning here. Since a gynecologist apparently weighed in on this, I’d really love to see what the actual arguments against taking oral probiotics are.
Long-term contraception: Implanon experiences in Women's Health ·
Jesus, Susan Adams66, I had no idea about this. 😢
🙂

I find it quite difficult to wrap my head around the idea that gynecologists—well, some of them, at least—would just push these treatments through without performing even basic due diligence. It seems rather negligent not to verify if certain hormones or specific therapies are actually safe for a patient in the first place, or to simply listen when someone is trying to express that something feels off.

Does anyone here happen to be familiar with the standard medical protocol required before opting for this kind of long-term contraceptive?
Dennis Evans59 said:The "sludge"—if you can even call it that—comes out of both my nose and mouth whenever I cough. It isn't a sneeze; I don't think it's a common cold, because I’d feel significantly worse than this. Basically, I’m coughing up this thick, green stuff, and when I blow my nose, that same gunk comes out too—it's actually quite unpleasant, as I can literally feel it being pulled from deep inside when I try to clear my sinuses.

Go see a doctor. Thick, green discharge isn't exactly a sign of good health, especially if you've been dealing with this sensation for days now.
As for why I haven't found the time—well, that's a long story. I'm enrolled in a pretty demanding school program, so my schedule is packed. I spend my mornings studying before classes start at noon, then I'm stuck at school until about 6:00 or 7:00 PM. By the time I'm done, I'm just exhausted and craving nothing but food and sleep, and honestly, finding a clinic that's still open by then is difficult...

No, those aren't excuses; they sound more like laziness to me. I went through a rigorous high school alongside extracurriculars, followed by an even more grueling college experience and constant travel... and even now, working myself to the bone all day long, I still manage to carve out time for a medical appointment.

Based on these symptoms, no one is going to be able to give you a diagnosis over a computer screen, let alone suggest a treatment plan (imagine if you actually have to stay in bed due to some infection and end up needing heavy-duty antibiotics). Perhaps consider sacrificing a little bit of your screen time to visit a doctor at 7:00 AM. Good luck. 😉
I was under the impression we were talking about phlegm—you know, something being coughed up. It’s just a bit confusing since you mentioned it "prefers coming out through the nose." 😁

Regardless, isn't the whole point an expectoration?

p.s. You've been under the weather, your immune system is likely down... it's clearly either a lingering cold or some kind of inflammation. We can only speculate, I suppose.
It's just baffling to me how someone who is only 15 years old can't find a single hour in their day to actually go see a doctor. 🤷

I’m not looking for counter-arguments here—just actual, reasoned explanations. I'm genuinely curious whether this is merely a hypothesis or if there are established facts that back up your claim.

Honestly, it's just curiosity, no offense intended.

Larry Walker24, it’s actually quite straightforward:

1. Navigate to the specific page—the article you're looking at;
2. Go up to the address bar, highlight everything, and copy it (just right-click and select "copy");
3. Then, click on this little gadget here and paste that copied link from the address bar into the empty field within the tool (right-click and "paste")

Don't bother messing around with any manual URLs, because the link will just generate itself automatically.

I’d suggest viewing linking to articles or copy-pasting snippets of text more as a supplement rather than letting it make up the bulk of your (introductory) post. What really matters is your own opinion, your commentary, or the actual discussion. It doesn't matter how perfectly you quote or link things—which is fine, of course—if you're only going to follow all that effort with a single, brief sentence of "opinion."

We’re talking about a magazine that hasn't bothered to refresh its rankings much in the last 40 years or so—their top 10 usually features the exact same roster of names, mostly icons whose careers kicked off back in the 60s. It's a publication that is far too obsessed with American-centric schemes and shows remarkably little interest in international artists—or even certain genres, for that matter. Because of this narrow focus, they've faced plenty of criticism over the years.

We’re also talking about a magazine that famously canned a writer in the mid-90s just because he wanted to pen a bad review—which, frankly, was deserved—for those then-emerging American pop-rock heroes Hootie & the Blowfish.

And what is the actual purpose of these lists? Well, as I mentioned, it's basically to give people something to bicker about so the magazine can keep the cash flowing. You always see a million comments scrolling by like "why isn't this person included?" 🙂 or "this one should have been at #2 instead of #5," 🙂 and so on. Then you have the types who treat these rankings like gospel, using them to decide which albums or artists are worth their time—I suppose 🤷though who actually keeps track of all these endless lists from various magazines and websites nowadays?

The absolute best one ever, if you ask me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGaTa2TwJ8k 😁 🙂

p.s. personally, I think USA is garbage.
I suppose I should probably start by saying that I don’t claim to have all the answers—far from it—but I feel compelled to weigh in on this. It seems we’ve reached a point where certain nuances are being completely overlooked, or perhaps they're just being intentionally ignored—though I suspect it’s more of the former. It’s easy to look at the surface level of things, isn't it? But if you dig even a little bit deeper—and I mean really dig—you realize how much gets lost in translation when people try to simplify complex issues for the sake of convenience. I guess what I’m trying to get at—and please bear with me if I’m rambling—is that there is a significant difference between what is actually happening and the narrative being pushed by the mainstream media outlets in New York or D.C. It’s almost as if they believe the average American isn't capable of grasping the finer details—which, frankly, is a rather condescending assumption to make, don't you think? Maybe I'm being too cynical, but it feels like we are constantly being fed a sanitized version of reality. It’s all very calculated—the way they frame the debate, the way they choose their words—to ensure that the actual substance remains buried under a mountain of rhetoric. Anyway, that's just my two cents. I'm sure others will disagree, as they inevitably do. kaže:
First, I feel compelled to point out that you are being contradictory once again.
To the question of whether I consider the internet an unimportant method of communication—well, of course not. Through this medium, I’ve managed to forge numerous friendships, gather invaluable insights from people I truly respect, enjoy wonderful social interactions, and so much more... which, as you so aptly pointed out, is clearly evidenced by my ten thousand posts. It seems that something quite unexpected occurred following my previous entry (though, I sincerely hope that isn't the case), even if I find the whole situation rather unbelievable. It feels almost like being lost in translation when someone indirectly suggests I should stop communicating with them, only to follow it up with such a reaction. I mean, why exactly would some random username on an online forum carry that much weight? I guess it’s just one of those questions that seems obvious, yet somehow people still trip over it—though, honestly, it might just be getting lost in translation. "
...
And then—just when you think things have settled—you go and pull another complete U-turn...

The posts are perfectly clear—crystal clear, really—and I don't see any contradictions whatsoever. Just to be safe, I should probably clarify that my comments regarding the "clearing" process refer specifically to the CIN 1 and HPV stuff—you know, the actual topic we were discussing before we got moved over here. 😉
I have absolutely no intention of being repetitive here—though I suppose you might interpret that as me dodging your questions or, heaven forbid, being "contradictory" once again.
I really have no desire to play "lost in translation"—I simply can't stand it when people take my sentences out of context.
If you truly believe you’re nothing more than a digital handle on a screen, then I suppose there’s really no reason to view her any differently either. I mean—if we’re being consistent—what possible reason is there to let your soul ache while reading her posts? After all, if you're just a nickname, then she is too. It’s all just data in the end, I guess.
The only reason you’re reacting with such vitriol in this instance—if I may be so bold—is that you likely felt personally attacked yourself. It seems to me you’ve found yourself in this exact same position before, and perhaps your decision to weigh in was less about the facts and more about venting some pent-up frustration. I suppose, in your haste to release that anger, you didn't give much thought to how your outburst might impact her.

He missed the entire damn soccer match.
I believe I’ve already made it quite clear to you—though perhaps my point was lost in translation—that I haven't exactly found myself in that same position, nor even remotely close to it, when it comes to matters of support and genuine understanding.
The way you handled that situation was completely unacceptable, and frankly—if I’m being honest—I find myself having to condemn it.
Well, you finally admitted it—you’re actually self-aware regarding how you react. You laid everything out on the table and explained yourself, which I suppose makes things okay... and honestly, that’s perfectly fine by me.

Furthermore, you seem to have an issue with my sentence—"I would have left them like that"—and you apparently take offense at my way of "offering advice."
I suppose I should mention that—though it might feel a bit out of place given the circumstances—that offering advice at a time like this feels somewhat misplaced. Maybe it's just me, but I suspect such suggestions can come across as rather tone-deaf when things are this heavy.
...
I simply cannot find a way to justify that indirect advice you offered in your initial post—and honestly, that seems to be the crux of my entire argument.

Alright, that’s actually important. Finally.
But...

If I were in your shoes—though I’m certainly not—I suppose I might have taken a different approach, but personally? I wouldn't.
Look, at the end of the day, we aren't all cut from the same cloth—nor do we all process things through the same mental lens, I suppose. If you find yourself unable to grasp—or perhaps more importantly, accept—my reaction or the advice I’ve offered here, then I guess there isn't much else for me to do. There's really no point in dwelling on it. 🤷
I should probably offer an apology for my previous stances—and for those indirect suggestions I made (regardless of how anyone might have interpreted them)—but I truly have no intention of offering advice of any kind moving forward.
In your post, you managed to touch upon pretty much everything she brought up in her previous comments—so, I guess I was able to indirectly justify myself to her through your writing, knowing full well that she’ll end up reading it.

I think my point in that previous post was pretty clear—it’s essentially what you and several others have been suggesting—that apologies and explanations should be handled in real life, directly, between the two of you. Since you felt the need to bring it into this space... fine. 🙂

edit: while I was typing this out, someone else reached out to me about a different matter.
Look, I don't really know what advice I can offer, other than perhaps suggesting you dial back the intensity if this whole thing has shaken you up quite a bit. It's perfectly fine that everything is being addressed and that you're aware of how you reacted. The actual issue seems to be your disagreement with my specific comment—my advice and my stance. Just try to view it as a simple case of us not seeing eye to eye.

The debate really started heating up the moment you jumped in, mostly because I hit a nerve—just as much as I was hit when I read how your girlfriend is feeling.

Regardless, I wish you both the best—wishing you plenty of health, love, and happiness.
bluemoose21 said:It seems you only decided to take this personally once you actually felt insulted yourself. I truly hope you realize how difficult it is to maintain a sense of decorum when someone repeatedly goes out of their way to tell you that you're making them sick.

It seems we’re having a bit of a breakdown in communication regarding what actually constitutes an insult—it's quite fascinating, really. I genuinely fail to see where I’ve crossed any line here (though, I suppose, I should probably call in the authorities to take a closer look at my wording just to be safe). All I did was condemn your behavior toward that girl—an action I fully intend to continue condemning, regardless of whether it stems from your lack of information, your religious convictions, your specific lifestyle, or perhaps some other factor I haven't even considered yet. I honestly find your actions quite distasteful—whether they stem from a genuine lack of information or if you actually know better and are choosing to act this way anyway. It’s hard to tell, I guess, but either way, it's unpleasant. Do you honestly think I’m going to sit here and respond to behavior like that with cheerful little emojis and sweet, sugary words—all wrapped up in a neat little bow with a Hello Kitty ribbon? I mean, really. Do I actually need to spell this out for you, or are we planning to just spin in circles indefinitely? 🤷

By the way—and I mean this with total sincerity—I wasn't actually offended by being called "shamelessly hypocritical," nor was I particularly moved when you decided to patronize me with those little "childlike qualities" remarks—not to mention that overly polished, rehearsed way you have of lecturing about everything under the sun. But ADD? That’s a different conversation entirely. It’s something else altogether. And since we seem to be on the subject of insults, I would truly appreciate it if you could actually quote the specific insult I directed at you in this thread.
My contention remains that you simply don't have enough information to be handing out breakup advice or passing judgment on someone’s entire character based on a handful of forum posts. And—if we're being honest about the irony here—it’s almost funny that you're criticizing me and my actions for being uninformed when you're doing the exact same thing.

It’s absolutely true—I simply don't have enough information at this stage to form a proper judgment on the matter. I suppose we should look at the whole thing—in its entirety—if we want to be thorough about it. It seems we have ourselves a situation where people feel entitled to judge someone’s character—and then, of course, go ahead and offer their unsolicited "advice." It's quite a pattern, really. I suppose some individuals simply find it impossible to mind their own business without feeling the need to play therapist or moral compass for everyone else. It’s a bit much, don't you think?

I'm not sure if you missed this—but I am certainly NOT passing judgment on... I suppose one could look at the whole situation—if you can even call it that—as a complete and utter mess. It’s all quite overwhelming, really. It’s all written right there in their character—though, to be fair, I don't really have any other data points to go on besides what's laid out in this thread. It’s pretty obvious to anyone actually paying attention.

I find myself compelled to reflect—perhaps a bit too much, if I’m being honest—on one or more of your recent reactions. It seems to me that they were largely driven by a certain... let's call it a lack of situational awareness... following the moment your partner discovered her Pap smear results weren't exactly stellar.

I don’t know about you, but reading that she feels like she’s coming down with the plague—following that whole chocolate incident—honestly just broke my heart. And, I have to say, my stomach actually turned a bit when I read your post explaining that the whole thing was intended as a "joke"—not to mention that part about the kissing. It feels a little much, as if her situation isn't already difficult enough. To make matters worse, we don't even have any clarity on whether she’s dealing with some type of HPV or not.

I didn't go so far as to claim I’d mapped out your entire personality—that would be quite an undertaking—but rather, I expressed my sheer distaste for your incredibly inappropriate reactions (though, for all we know, she might not even have HPV!). My point was simply that you seem somewhat uninformed on the subject, and frankly, you're just spreading unnecessary panic and making things harder for her. To top it off, you think you're being "funny," when what she actually needs is support and empathy—the kind of thing one would expect from a mature adult.

I don't know if you’re up to speed on ADHD, the national debt, or even the logistics of mowing the grass in Central Park—honestly, it's all pretty irrelevant—but I am talking about HPV (and any other STI) and the stigma that comes attached to it. I’m not judging your lack of knowledge on those other topics, nor am I attacking your entire character here. It would be a different story if you were simply uninformed and reacted with total shock, viewing everything as some sort of personal failure; but instead, you tried to keep a level head for the sake of someone you care about. Even in the middle of a panic, you actually attempted to gather information so things might make sense, all while trying to support your girlfriend through those initial, difficult moments.

Prejudices usually stem from—well, let's be honest—a lack of information, or perhaps no information at all. It’s hardly a secret, but I find that kind of behavior quite objectionable regardless. I chose to state my position publicly just to shut down that specific line of reasoning, and I have no qualms about repeating myself. Since I’m not using my full legal name or any fancy professional titles, anyone—and I mean absolutely anyone—can take my words and apply them to their own life if they feel inclined.

It seems something must have happened following my previous entry (though I sincerely hope not), which strikes me as rather odd—I mean, why would some random username on an internet forum carry such weight? If everything really is settled, as you claim, then fine. I'll stick to my guns, and you can stick to yours. 😉
Perhaps "forbidding" isn't quite the right way to put it. But you did tell me directly that this forum isn't a place for "making excuses." Which, frankly, feels a bit ironic coming from someone who just lectured me on user rights. Regardless, I want to reiterate that I was only attempting to explain myself to one specific person; I have zero interest in making grand justifications to the masses.

Actually, I see the exact opposite happening here, given that you quoted me instead of her post—which brings us back to your own words: I feel the need to at least try to defend myself against the advice of these good Samaritans. You "feel the need," okay.

As for this whole "not a place for excuses" business, I simply said "save it for real life," which is just my way of saying you don't need to justify anything TO ME.

You started out criticizing some guy, but it turns out that guy was me. I felt your conclusions were unjustified, so I decided to attempt a defense. As far as I was concerned, the topic of "what some uninformed person did" ceased to be relevant the moment I made my first post.

No, it didn't stop being relevant. By deciding to step in and deal with the criticism, you actually made the issue even more current.

I don't intend to comment on the rest of your post because it inevitably devolves into this "me versus you" dynamic. We are supposed to be discussing your reaction to CIN1, the cause of which hasn't even been identified yet.
