Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
I mean, I honestly doubt it’s because of the footwear or anything like that.🤣
I don't know, personally, mine didn't really settle down for maybe two or three years—I've been dealing with it since I was eleven, I guess—and I never even bothered seeing a doctor, so everything just kind of sorted itself out on its own eventually.😁
if I may ask😁, how on earth does something that happened back when they were just a baby still be messing with them twenty years later?
Pharmacy recommendations? in Health ·
swiftbear86 said:During night shifts, the pharmacist is actually only required to fill prescriptions marked as urgent.

Article 17.

Man, I didn't even realize how lucky I was to have such friendly pharmacists at my local neighborhood drugstore.😁
If they were any more rude about it, I probably wouldn't even bother showing up there during the day anymore.🤷

Sophia Nguyen said:Personally, I have zero patience for stuff like this. As much as I try to be polite and helpful during the day, I turn incredibly blunt and standoffish during the night shift. People seem to think working nights is like working a gas station pump, so they think they can stroll in at 2 AM asking for multivitamins or hand cream. It drives me crazy.😠
Regarding Novocain, I wouldn't dispense it either, nor would I touch any other antibiotic without a doctor's order. A patient claiming they've used it before means absolutely nothing to us pharmacists.
I'm sure Novocain ended up being necessary in the end, but people have become way too entitled when it comes to prescription-only meds. They get incredibly unpleasant when you refuse to give in.
And honestly... I don't get how you even dared to wake up an ER doctor for a "simple" UTI. 😲 You could probably blame the pharmacist on duty for pushing you to take that leap.☕

I am totally with you regarding people asking for prescription drugs.
But if the pharmacy is open 24/7, sorry, but people actually have the right to come in and buy their multivitamins.🤷
Jonathan Morris40 said:So, I was just sitting here thinking about that weird, floaty feeling—you know, like you’re watching a movie of your own life instead of actually living it? It's called derealization, and honestly, it’s such a trip. It’s one of those things where everything feels slightly off, like the world around you has lost its edge or looks like some kind of low-budget CGI set. Everything feels thin, or maybe too intense, or just... fake. I guess it’s hard to put into words without sounding like a total nutcase, but it’s that sense that you’re trapped behind a pane of glass, even when you’re just walking down the street in downtown Chicago or grabbing a coffee at Starbucks. The symptoms can be pretty wild, too. People usually say they feel detached from their surroundings, or like the people around them aren't quite "real," which sounds super eerie if you think about it too long. Sometimes colors look duller, or maybe way too bright, and time starts behaving really strangely—like it's stretching out forever or just skipping beats. I mean, it’s not exactly a fun way to spend an afternoon, and it can get pretty overwhelming if you don't have a handle on it. It’s definitely something worth looking into if you feel like you're drifting away from reality, because it's a heavy thing to carry around by yourself.

So, I guess this is actually happening to me for the first time ever, and honestly? It’s still going on, unfortunately.

Even though that description I quoted nails the whole feeling of derealization perfectly, I guess it still feels kind of weird to me that it just won't let up.😕 I mean, I honestly can't even wrap my head around the fact that it’s actually that. I guess I just didn't see it coming, you know? Maybe I was being too optimistic or something, but man, I really thought it would be something else entirely. It's just one of those things where you're sitting there, staring at it, thinking, "No way, surely not," and then reality just kind of hits you in the face. It's wild, I suppose.🤷
I mean, I guess you should probably start by ruling out all the physical stuff first, you know? Like, before you go down any rabbit holes or start overthinking the mental side of things, just make sure there isn't some underlying bodily issue causing the chaos. It’s probably worth checking that out first, maybe.
Jonathan Morris40 said:@Elizabeth Davis/">@@Elizabeth Davis: man, that feeling is just straight-up awful. I'm sitting here at the office, fully aware of everything going on, chatting with coworkers, walking around, and honestly, nobody even suspects a thing—it’s like I’m totally normal to them, but to me, everything feels completely surreal and off...

it sounds like the textbook definition of derealization, really.

does this kind of thing happen all the time for you, or is it more like an occasional thing that just hits out of nowhere?
Hormonal Contraception: The Pill [General Discussion] in Women's Health ·
I mean, I was really just asking if there were any underlying health issues, without actually specifying what kind, you know? I didn't ask anything about my family members either. I just went ahead and had my CBC and liver panel done.

melloworca6 said:He probably just meant you should use a glucose monitor if anyone in your house has one handy when this happens.

That definitely isn't normal. Have you seen a doctor yet? Did they send you in for some blood work?

edit: Jason Reyes9, I think Hrvoje would tell you he suspects something, but since it could be anything or nothing at all, it's better to get the lab results back first before we start speculating on what they mean. 🙂

There isn't anyone here.😬 Nobody has issues with their blood sugar.

And honestly, I haven't even seen a doctor about it yet. I've been eating every two or three hours, mostly because I just feel starving every couple of hours. It's like... I can literally feel this empty pit in my stomach.🤷

vividsailor7 said:And just how much is the IRS taking out of those "hypoglycemic" payouts?

I’ve had just about enough of this nonsense. Seriously, how many times do we have to go over the same tired arguments before people actually start listening? It feels like I’m shouting into a void sometimes. Every single time a new topic comes up, the same group of people pops up with the exact same half-baked ideas, acting like they’ve discovered fire when they’re really just recycling old garbage. It’s exhausting. It’s frustrating. And frankly, it’s beneath the level of discourse we should be having here. We need actual substance, not just endless cycles of repetitive whining and baseless speculation. If you don't have anything new to add to the conversation, then why are you even participating? Just stay quiet and let the adults talk. Period. kaže:
I’ve got this weird symptom popping up, and honestly, I can't for the life of me find anything useful about it on Google.
Look, I’m telling you, it’s happening again. Every single time I sit down to eat, I get hit with this absolutely brutal, bone-chilling coldness that just takes over my entire body. It’s not just a little shiver, either—it’s a full-on, deep-seated chill that makes me want to wrap myself in three blankets and hide. It’s honestly infuriating. I’m sitting there trying to enjoy a meal, and suddenly, it feels like I’ve been dropped straight into the middle of a blizzard in Chicago. It’s exhausting dealing with this.
Sometimes you get those random tremors or twitches—what could be going on there?

Get in touch with your primary care physician immediately.

well, how am I supposed to know?🤣 It just sort of hits me and then fades away, I guess.
If I don't eat something within maybe two or three hours, I start getting this weird restlessness, feeling cold, sweating, just generally weak... and eventually, my vision starts going dark. If I didn't grab something sugary right then and there, I think I would’ve actually passed out.
It doesn't really feel normal to me, honestly.🤷

I’m dealing with pretty much the same thing, mostly just these constant bouts of hypoglycemia. My blood sugar levels look totally fine on paper—you know, those standard fasting tests—but I can't help but wonder what else I should be doing about it.
Could someone maybe walk me through exactly what steps I ought to take?
Lump on my stomach in Health ·
So, I actually stumbled onto this by accident about 14 years ago when I was just, you know, checking out my midsection.🤣 I don't really suspect it's anything major or worth making a fuss over, honestly.🤷 It’s more like... well, the ribs on that side seem a little more pronounced than the ones on the other side, if that makes sense.😁
I mean, who knows, maybe it’s just one of those natural asymmetries we all have going on.
Lump on my stomach in Health ·
I’m not entirely sure if we’re even talking about the same thing here, but whenever I let my stomach relax, the left side seems to bulge out just a little bit more than the right. It’s probably nothing major, and honestly, it isn't super obvious to anyone else, but I definitely notice this weird little asymmetry when I'm looking in the mirror.

I honestly don't think Persen is going to do much for you when it comes to tapering off the Helex.
Maybe give Ativan a shot instead.

Check your DMs. Sometimes they just vanish into thin air, I guess, but usually, they're hanging out there somewhere. You’ll probably stumble upon what you're looking for in one of them eventually.

Is this kind of what we're looking at?

So, yeah, they're technically marketed as women's shoes, but I don't think that’s really an issue if you want to rock them with a guy's fit. My brother actually wears them all the time, no big deal.🤣
Plus, they've got some kind of gel padding inside, which makes them super comfy, I guess.
Low serotonin levels in Health ·
Adam Chase98 said:Understood! I also spent two full years in a coma-like state. I went through endless testing, stayed in the hospital for four days, and consulted neurologists, psychiatrists, acupuncturists, and even tried homeopathy. Eventually, I got my prescription, and everything cleared up! I am just curious—did that person actually recover? What specific medication was she taking (or is she still taking)? How did her symptoms present themselves? And how does she cope with the reality of having dealt with such an illness?

It took her a few different trips to the psychiatrist before she could even wrap her head around the idea that it was a mental health thing. She ended up being put on an antidepressant and Xanax, which she was super hesitant about taking, and since that was only about a year ago, I honestly have no clue how she'll handle things once she eventually stops.
She felt absolutely terrible physically, too—just constant dizziness, weakness, nausea, headaches... everything.
Low serotonin levels in Health ·
It doesn't really matter if you actually felt anxious or anything like that, I guess. For some people, it all just shows up physically, you know? It’s not even that weird when you think about it.🤷
I mean, I know someone who was doing so poorly that she ended up in the ER for a whole battery of tests. They couldn't find a single thing wrong with her, but then she got prescribed some medication and she was totally fine.
Low serotonin levels in Health ·
So, what does it actually mean when people talk about a serotonin deficiency? Is that even a standalone medical diagnosis or just a catch-all term? I mean, from what I gather, everything I associate with low serotonin—like anxiety, depression, and all those weird physical symptoms that come along with them—seems to stem from that one idea.
If we’re really going there, though, I’ve personally been on medication for about nine years now. Honestly, I don't think I could handle it; living with those symptoms without help would be pretty much impossible for me.🤷
Let's talk perfectionism: General discussion in Psychology ·
The thing about Stephen King is that he tries way too hard to apply logic to things that just aren't logical, and honestly, people like that usually don't even have a clue how psychology actually works.
As for OCD, I mean, maybe you should dig through some of the threads on that disorder first, then really sit back and think about whether those folks are actually aware they’re struggling or if they’re totally oblivious to it.🙄
Let's talk perfectionism: General discussion in Psychology ·
I don't think I've ever actually run into a perfectionist who wasn't also, well, kind of lacking in the brain department.🙄
