Are we taking life way too seriously? in Psychology ·
driftingorca13 said:That’s a good question. I once read a book—I can't recall the author's name, just that he was American—titled *Don't Sweat the Small Stuff, and It's All Small Stuff*. One of its core premises is that people tend to take life way too seriously and really need to just relax a bit.

Yeah, I read a book once too—just can't recall which one off the top of my head🤔🤷
Sex and grammar?!? Seriously? in Psychology ·
When a girl corrects my grammar, I honestly feel like she’s just smoothing out
a stray hair—you know, just fixing that one little thing that doesn't quite fit the perfect
vibe of our connection.
It's like how it bugs me if a girl I'm close to doesn't block the sun
when it's glaring right behind her head and hitting my eyes.
Since I'm not really the type to nag about stuff like women do, I won't say a word,
I'll just gently move her head so she blocks the light for me.🤷

Sandra Parker3 said:So, what are you waiting for?
A real conversation, a firm agreement, and probably the inevitable "end."
There isn’t some magic wand or a potion out there to make someone stop loving you.

I mean, sure, maybe if she just gets her head on straight... but if nothing changes, you already know how this plays out.

Then you should be the one giving her a reality check.😬

Ladies, you all look dangerous 🙏 — honestly can't tell who's who though 🤷

🙂 🙂 🙂
Chloe Barnes8 said:You might not see it... but the rest of us are definitely noticing your lack of basic literacy...😁 😁

Oops, my bad—fixing that now.
What I actually meant was how you guys are all just coddling each other's helplessness.
Hopefully that keeps the crazies away. 😁

P.S. A guy doesn't exactly need to be a scholar for women to adore him.😬
Angela Rogers2 said:I really don't feel like quoting anything right now.
But I guess it’s all just instinctual anyway. Why didn't you pick some guy who was dim-witted, unremarkable, or broke? It’s basically sexual selection—why am I saying that? Because, say, a strong, smart, attractive, funny, or wealthy man is generally seen as having good genes. The assumption is that those traits might pass down to offspring, making them more successful or capable or whatever.
I still maintain that women are more tuned into emotional cues than men are, probably because of the whole child-rearing thing. They tend to have higher social intelligence. Like, if a baby starts crying, a woman can pretty much tell why just by the sound; to a man, that’s just a nervous breakdown.😁

Tanya, you should check out *The Evolution of Man* by Jones; you might actually like it. The book is loaded with arguments from a genetic standpoint about how men are essentially genetically inferior to women, and how everything is just one big evolutionary mistake and so on... 😉 😁

As for why some people marry purely for financial gain, it’s actually pretty straightforward. Think about cavemen: if a hunter managed to bring home 10 pounds of meat after a struggle, he was showing his partner he could provide. She’d choose him to father her kids over some idiot who couldn't catch anything. To her, that meat wasn't just food; it was proof of competence. Nowadays, if a guy showed up at your door with 10 pounds of raw meat, you’d probably just stare at him wondering what his deal is. But society has evolved, and when a guy takes a woman to an expensive restaurant in a luxury car or buys her high-end perfume, it’s the modern version of that same signal. He’s basically shouting, "Look how successful and capable I am; I can afford this, so you're safe with me." If a woman isn't looking for intelligence—maybe because she isn't prioritizing it herself—she won't care if he's slow or whatever.
If she does value intelligence, then yeah, it matters.
Some women will also prioritize physical looks, letting their own specific idea of beauty drive their selection process.
And so on and so forth...
I mean, men make these choices too... I'm not just talking about women.

Is it just me, or is everyone here just kind of mutually enabling each other's helplessness? 😉😁
Which two-thirds of humanity do you think forum users actually fall into?😬
Honestly, it would be awesome if someone (maybe someone blind?) could jump in here and just
explain how they actually experience color.
Are homophobes just closeted? in Psychology ·
If being a homophobe means you're just a closeted homosexual
then we're basically saying all homophobes are gay,
which implies that gay people are actually the ones being homophobic.
So, the only way this works is if gay people are homophobes, making it true that
homophobes are just latent homosexuals.
Which basically means—if I'm not gay, then I can't be a homophobe either.😁
Brandon Thomas89 said:I honestly think we need a serious scientific study to determine if a gay man’s gas smells any different from a straight man's... 😲

Now that would be some groundbreaking research.... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Are we talking about the sound, the scent, or just the overall fuel efficiency here?🤔
You can usually spot a gay guy just by his piercings—like, earrings and stuff.
I mean, if someone’s clearly into having something foreign being inserted into them, they've gotta have that potential.
Not saying they actually have to act on it or anything, but...😉

Thomas Martinez67 said:But where exactly does that happen? 😕

On this pagehttp://forum.mensa.hr/viewtopic.php?...r=asc&start=50 just search for: THE ULTIMATE IQ TEST
Since I spotted your avatar there—so weird—you might have actually crushed it already.
Each question is worth 33 IQ points.
I managed to nail five of them, which puts me at a 165.
If you happen to know the answer to the sixth one, please send it my way... trying to get my IQ up to around 200, haha.

Yeah, people are talking—but they aren't talking about me.😬

That’s just not true. You're straight up lying.🙂

mistybison said:It follows that with enough experience, we naturally become more "emotionally intelligent."

But I don't think it's about growing your amygdala—it's more about getting better at inhibition, you know? Like...
suppressing those frantic impulses from the amygdala.
The first time you hear a grenade go off nearby, you're absolutely terrified,
but after a while, you barely even register it because you've rationalized the fear away.
To me, emotional intelligence is really just the ability to keep your fear in check.
High IQ and Narcissism: Fact or Fiction? in Psychology ·
Thomas Martinez67 said:Honestly, who even needs emotional intelligence?

For people who pick up on everything—too much info hitting the amygdala—the path
to the neocortex gets totally jammed, which is basically why you get so anxious.
So, because those intense limbic impulses don't get suppressed in time, some
folks should probably count to ten—actually, maybe even twenty-three (23)—before they
say anything or make a comment.

Lawrence Wells said:EXCUSE ME?😲 😲 😲

Yeah, just so you know.
If a guy doesn't have some chest hair, then his brain—well, let's just say something's off there.
And honestly, if you want to be smoother than a woman, you're basically a narcissist.
We call an intelligent person "straightforward"—they don't mince words.
But if they aren't smart? Well, they're just missing the hair on their chest.
There—think everything makes sense now.
