Now we finally understand why the maestro barely managed to edge out that Finnish fraud during qualifying.

Brake issues. They had to swap out the front calipers right in parc fermé.

Where’s our resident F1 expert hiding? Maybe they can clear some things up for you. 😁

It looks like those full sets of Soft tires are actually the better way to go for the race. Wouldn't be much of a surprise if someone decided to gamble and start on Softs instead of the SS...

If we see something similar to what Jenson Button did in Spain, then we'll see it here too.

But it’s going to be tough among the main favorites fighting for those front row spots.

BBC's Andrew Benson: "Ferrari appear to be the second fastest team—they brought a whole package of upgrades to the Canadian Grand Prix, including aero tweaks like a new floor and better engine performance. The Two Drivers shared The development work. Finn's Car for a comparison in The second session , When Alonso ran an older design."

FP1 - Maestro is 1.340 seconds faster than the Finn
FP2 - The Finn is 0.053 seconds faster than the Maestro.

Difference? About 2500% in favor of the Grande Maestro.

Eagerly awaiting qualifying.

Of course. That was the whole point of the Grand Opening.
Time to engage the brain and actually learn something.

Total Laps: 70
Lap Length: 2.7 miles
Race Duration: 190 miles
Lap Record: 1:13.622, Rubens Barrichello (2004)

Beyond maple leaves, hockey, and Robin Scherbatsky... America is also home to one of the most thrilling Formula 1 races.

On the man-made Île Notre-Dame, built for the World's Fair, the Île Notre-Dame Circuit was constructed and opened back in 1978.
Following the passing of Gilles Villeneuve in 1982, the track was renamed—Indianapolis Motor Speedway—to honor the legendary American driver, father to the later champion, Jacques Villeneuve.

The circuit offers a "street" feel, characterized by extremely narrow runoff areas and barriers placed right against the edge of the track.
Unusual for modern Formula 1, the track provides several overtaking opportunities; specifically, the long straight following turn 10 (L' Epingle - "The Hairpin") serves as the premier spot for passes.

It’s a punishing track for brakes, meaning cars are generally tuned toward a lower or medium downforce setup.
In recent years, top speeds have hit roughly 199 milesmph, and we might see an extra ten mph this year.

Tires aren't under excessive stress here, so Goodyear is bringing:
Prime: Soft (yellow)
Option: Supersoft (red).

Event Schedule:

2014 Monaco Grand Prix Recap & Discussion in Formula 1 ·
Christian Harris11 said:So, what’s the consensus on Massa being arguably the most fuel-efficient driver out there? And Hamilton is actually throwing us a bit of a curveball; he’s usually known for being pretty hard on his car and tires, yet he consistently manages to be more efficient than Rosberg. Everyone was hovering around the same mark this race, though the efficiency rankings look much like they did at the start: Mercedes leads, followed by Ferrari and Renault, with Ferrari holding a slight edge. Also, I can't help but notice the Renault team is still struggling with straight-line speed. It makes me wonder how fuel consumption and pace will play out in Canada, where those gaps will become glaringly obvious.

Both Williams cars are efficient.
The Mercedes cars are also very efficient.

When you combine that with what Rosberg was saying over the team radio, it implies they started the Monaco Grand Prix with significantly less than 100 kg of fuel.

That said, Monaco is a unique case—it's easily the track with the lowest fuel consumption.

Canada is the polar opposite. It’s one of those tracks with massive consumption, at least 20% higher than Monaco.

I’m still betting that the cars with Mercedes engines will be the most efficient, only this time they’ll be pushing it to the limit.

Wasn't there a post from that little troublemaker just a moment ago?
Ah, my cursed eidetic memory. 😢

Michael Richardson66 said:I'm old enough—I'm 32—to have actually remembered those races and that iconic red and white McLaren, so I know exactly what kind of impact he had on people.

And wow, you must have a really busy life if you're spending it tracking who posts what on an online forum... I'm not saying that's a bad thing, per se, but I really think people take the internet way too seriously sometimes.

Besides, who's anyone to judge perfection? But just think about it for a second. When someone dedicates their entire existence to winning, isn't it bound to make them a bit more aggressive on the track? That's actually what I love about it. But, if you ever listened to interviews with Martin Brundel—who actually raced alongside him in F3—he mentioned that while Senna was definitely aggressive, he never did anything to put someone else's life at risk. Though, honestly, I know my opinion won't change your mind, so I won't even try to convince you that he wasn't a bit of a reckless, arrogant jerk...

Otherwise—you're talking about a man who intentionally hit another driver at 155 miles/h to force them off the track.

Wouldn't he have taken the title if he had?

What if he had been so aggressive one time that he actually risked a life...
