Need help picking a monitor! Urgent in Computer Peripherals ·
Hey everyone, could someone let me know if I can connect this cable directly from my graphics card (an HD3870) to my monitor? Also—and this is the big question—would I actually see a better picture this way? Or am I better off just running a standard DVI connection from the PC to the screen?

Thanks in advance!

Well, for the time being, I'm pretty happy with how this monitor is performing—fingers crossed it stays that way! 🙂

So, I was supposed to head out to Chicago today to pick up a monitor, but things didn't exactly go according to plan—life happens! In the end, I ended up asking my brother to grab it instead (keep in mind, his tech knowledge is basically zero when it comes to computers)
. I specifically told him to look for the Samsung 21,5 SM P2250N -$450
. You wouldn't believe it—he comes back, and all he's carrying is this tiny little box XD
. Man, was I caught off guard when I saw what he actually brought home: a Samsung SM2033 HD 20" -$600 🙂
. Honestly? This monitor is way better than I expected 😁—it’s got an HD TV tuner and remote control functionality, which makes it absolutely perfect.
I'm particularly loving the menu system and how easy it is to navigate with the remote. It’s a bit smaller than what I originally had in mind, but honestly, it's perfect for my setup 😉
.
Anyway, check it out here:

That’s a fair point. Honestly, I can't really speak to LG since my experience with them has been... let's just say less than ideal :S
I’ll have to see how things play out tomorrow once I head out to pick up the 🙂
If anyone else has some extra advice or tips, please feel free to share!

So, if you could break it down for me—what exactly makes the LG the better choice here?
Thanks in advance!

It looks like I’ve run into a bit of a snag—that link isn't working for some reason! :X
Anyway, here is what I was trying to share:

21.5'' LCD SAMSUNG SM P2250N
--- 2ms, 300cd/m2, 50000:1, VGA, black
Price:$450

Hopefully, the link behaves itself this time! 🙂

I was wondering if anyone could weigh in here—is this monitor actually worth the investment?

or maybe something like this:

$450Hey, does this model really justify the price tag? My main focus is going to be gaming and watching movies—so I want something that looks good. Also, I’ve been scratching my head over screen sizes—is there a noticeable difference between a 21.5" and a 22" display?
And what on earth does this mean: "Connections 15 pin D-SUB Plug & Play DDC 2B" ????

If any of you have used these specific monitors before, I'd love to hear about your experience!

Why settle for just a 19?
In my opinion, if you're dropping that kind of cash, you should definitely be looking at a high-quality 20 instead.

rustydriver23 said:Honestly, you shouldn't need to worry about much else—it's really just an issue with the audio drivers. I've got the exact same motherboard myself, and everything else works perfectly fine once you get Windows 7 up and running.😉

Thanks so much!!!
Does anyone know if there's an activation method floating around online for Windows 7 (the RTM version)? Also—just out of curiosity—does this specific version actually expire or shut down after a certain period?🙄
Hey there! Good to see everyone.
Windows 7 in Software ·
Could I get a little help here?...
I have a question regarding drivers for Windows 7 x64...
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3-rev2
Since I was planning to burn a Windows 7 release, I went ahead and started downloading the drivers—but when I hit up the Gigabyte site for my specific board, the only thing listed was the audio driver (basically tailored for the version of the OS I selected).
So, now I'm wondering: are there actually drivers available for this motherboard that will run smoothly on Windows 7 x64???

Thanks!

Heh, it works flawlessly within macOS itself—everything is smooth—but the second I launch a game, all the side buttons just go dead on me...
I actually gave it a shot on my buddy's old XP machine yesterday, and it worked perfectly fine during gameplay there.

Of course I know how to do that—but here’s the kicker: when I try to map my knife attack to a side button on my mouse, the system acts like the button doesn't even exist...😕
It’s driving me absolutely crazy right now. I’ve tried mapping just about everything, but nothing shows up in the controller settings.
Has anyone else run into this headache? I’ve chatted with a few people who dealt with the exact same thing, and honestly, I’m still stuck trying to find a fix.

🙄So, here’s the situation—my mouse works perfectly fine in macOS (I'm talking about all the basic button functionality), but as soon as I launch a game, I hit a wall. I can't get the side buttons—left or right—to map to anything at all. They just won't respond. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of nonsense before?
Just to add a bit of context: everything works flawlessly when I'm running an older system like Windows XP!
Everything’s all squared away now—thanks so much! 😉
I’m just trying to get my head around things here. Based on everything I’ve read so far, it honestly doesn't seem worth the trouble 🙂 hehehe
But I am curious—would it actually make sense to shell out those extra $267 for a 3870 and just put it in a CF setup? (I already have a card, and I just picked up this rig a couple of months ago)—or should I just grab something like an HD 4... instead? I’m honestly stumped on what to do with my current card XD, let alone who I’d even sell it to 😢
Also, would running two HD 3870s actually perform better than a single 4850? I’ll admit, I’m definitely not a hardware expert 🙂
I'm trying to figure out if it actually makes sense to pick up another one of these and run them in CrossFire—since the tech supports it, anyway. I'm wondering if there would be any noticeable jump in actual gaming performance or anything else along those lines...
I mean, what am I even really gaining by setting up CrossFire?😕😕

My monitor is a 22-inch model, running at a resolution of 1680 x 1050,

Because there is absolutely no way I'm dropping $200-$300$0.00 on something like an HD 4...☕

Thanks!🙂
