Are we all just masochists?

Personally, there’s nothing more nauseating than a stable, predictable relationship where some guy texts me every five minutes with those cringey, over-the-top declarations of love—you know, the whole "I’d pluck the stars from the sky for you" routine. It honestly makes me want to gag.
That’s why I tend to gravitate toward guys where I can't quite figure out where I stand; at least with them, life isn't a repetitive, boring slog like it is with all those "nice guys."
Right now, I can't get the guy who slapped me this past Saturday out of my head. 😢 (I’ve started writing about it—specifically regarding violence and how we react to it)
